I do know that in other MP cases public searches were called off during hunting season.
It should be the other way around, but I know how the hunters are around here. They plan for months, save their vacations just for deer season.

Archery deer season came in this morning... or at least I was told that by my son and son-in-law who both took to the woods. There is public hunting land up near the Stonewall Jackson Lake--this could put more people in the woods who might stumble across some valuable info...

Maybe a local could be sure that all of the sporting goods stores that sell deer tags, hunting licenses and supplies have her flyer on the counter at the register or in plain view at each check out if allowed by the store owner?

This opinion doesn't really help but it shouldn't be this way....hunters should only be out there hunting and communing with friends and nature (except maybe they shouldn't be killing wildlife, oops I digressed ;) ), they shouldn't have to look for evidence or remains...I wish I understood why the world is the way it is....

How do we change it? (just venting, don't want to be OT or derail this important thread)

It is so frustrating to not know how to help find this precious girl, except to pray and send positive vibes out....

O/T The trouble is there are so many deer here, they would starve to death if they don't get thinned down some. At least many do hunt them for food. They also have a program where if they want, they can donate the venison to feed the hungry.

The most recent article, it sounds like LE is throwing every possibility out there, wandering child, taken for her own good, etc...do they really have nothing more than they did a week ago?

  • #27
"taken for her on good" I hadn't thought of that but it is sure something to think about.

  • #28
If someone had taken her for her "own good", it is still kidnapping and the FBI is involved, I think they would have made contact. They are also at risk of being liable for this search that has gone on for 8 days now. I don't believe that is true.

Deer hunters are excellent searchers too. They find stuff a lot of times.

Yes they are. I found 3 deer skulls Thursday while searching. We came upon a very nice camp some man had built. He was very nice to us and let us look around even though he had already searched his property. I was more scared of coming upon a meth lab than anything. Alot of the searchers were in bright orange but quite a few were in the dark camo also

Every hunter I know eats what they kill. I know several who divide it among some of their elderly in the community. (After it has been prepared for cooking or freezing).

These cases just break my heart, kids just dissappearing with no trace, Haliegh, Kyron, Joshua , Lindsay and on and on, a week now and not a thing, I fear this little one will not be found either, bless her little heart

We would probably starve if my boys didn't hunt! Bow season and squirrel season opened here today.

Maybe someone could open a thread about hunting...:(

I was just about to type, "If people would send me some tasty deer jerky I'd be more than happy to test it out for them," but I'll abstain.

No news is so hard. But it seems that LE are doing the very best they can at keeping the public informed about the situation without hindering finding Ailayah or any criminal investigation that may be going on. I love Websleuths! The owner and the mods are the best! The people that post here are also the best. I'm proud to be a member of this site where so many care.

Hunters could be a real blessing. They go out at the crack of dawn. Many use deer stands. They sit very quiet and watch. One of them could hear or see something that no one else has or will. Praying for Aliayah and for all the hunters.
