Generally speaking...

If YOU take a picture YOU have the copyright.
If you take a picture WITH someone's permission, you have done nothing wrong.
If YOU take a picture WITH someone's permission and then share it, they are going to have a hard time doing anything about that.

Now, if you had someone's child and photographed her without permission, that's different.
That would be a violation of privacy.
But if they took pictures at her birthday party?
Obviously her parents were going to be aware of that.
They'd have a really hard time doing anything about it this long after the fact.

Just my opinion as a photographer (who refuses to post pictures of other human beings regardless of the legality of it.) :seeya:

Is anyone else bothered by the fact that new photos were released on facebook and not the media?

Absolutely not.
You mean they released them, for FREE... instead of getting PAID by the media for the pictures??? :woohoo:

That doesn't bother me, even a tiny bit.
The media will pick it up, it will be sent to them.
They should be put in a central place online then that link sent to the media so they can ALL have it... not just those who are willing to pay. :twocents:

Someone please look at Grandpa and tell me that is not the RSO step grandfather

There is a label under the picture on the FB page and it says that Grandpa is JE. So it is LL's Stepfather, not the RSO, which is RL's Stepfather.

Another little bit on the RSO that some might find interesting. In 1968 he had a baby boy who died at 9 months old - cause of death: asphyxiation by a thermal blanket. http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=4938224&Type=Death

Could that have been SIDS? I don't know if they used the term SIDS back then.
(yes I was around then, but little myself)

As far as posting the family pictures of Aliayah, it is fine. A family member sent me a message to say it is fine.

They just want her home. They want her found. They love her.

I have withheld comment on the newest pics til we could establish if they were okay to post/discuss.

Now that that issue is resolved (at least to my own satisfaction with thanks to AmandaReckonwith) may I just say the birthday cake - highchair photo is so adorable. What a lot of personality is wrapped up in that one photo. Even at that young age, you can see more of the actual personality of this child in that one photo than in any of the previously seen photos combined.

It brought a smile to my face, as I am sure to many more parents, as many of us have that same photo of our own children in their highchairs enjoying that 1st birthday cake.

My thanks to the relatives who posted them on the FB site.

Thanks to the family for sharing more pictures of this adorable little girl. I really loved the 1st birthday series of photos on FB. We did that when my babies turned one...just gave them a piece of cake and let them have at it. Watching them enjoy that cake is among my favorite memories. My babies are now 22 and 24 years old.

That is a tradition in our family for babies first birthday. It warms my heart to know that Aliayah got to have that simple pleasure as well.

Where are you little angel?

Yes SIDS was around back then. SIDS can only be diagnosed if no other cause of death can be found, and there was another cause of death in this case.

I agree, Kimbreeley, another day has gone by and no news. IF this were my child I would be in the psychiatric hospital right now. This is heartbreaking.

It snowed for most of this morning, but it melted fairly quickly.

I always cringe this time of year when those who are missing that live in impending climates. Their searches are put on hold for the winter. It makes me so sad to think of them out there. I can only hope someone has Aliayah and will keep her warm.

No new pictures in the media yet.

Tonight was trick or treat in my neighborhood. Every little girl I saw reminded me of Aliayah. It was a rough night. I wonder what she would want to dress up as?

I picture her as a princess. Snow White, perhaps. Poor little sweet pea. I am so sad we haven't had any big news about Aliayah. So disheartening.

I hope her siblings are doing alright. This whole situation has to be so confusing and upsetting for them particularly. I hope they are being cared for by experienced and loving fosters.

I am convinced after seeing the new pictures of little Aliayah that she is an old soul very similar to Caylee. You can see it in their eyes-it's amazing, I wonder if anyone in her family ever felt this way too?:waitasec:
I pray you are found soon Princess!

We're all waiting for you little one!!
