I don't think there was an official gag order. From what I'm reading on the internet from the extended family members who are now talking, they hadn't even talked to LE until this week.

I was trying to search oil & gas records last night to try to find out the legal owner of the property on Vadis rd. I didn't have much luck.

Sharedspirit,

Something (or someone) keeps waking me up at 3:30. I have no clue who it is or why they are doing it -but its making it so hard for me to do my school stuff..That being said, when i woke up I searched about this property, and from what I read the land is "supposed" to be in the Lunsfords name, but the phone is in someone else's name. This person-(im not sure I can post names)
is listed on the SOR. It seems everytime I search a male name in this case it circles right to the SOR. THAT is scary because if that many are ON IT -I know there must be many that SHOULD be on it -that aren't.

I'm sorry, Kimbreeley. (hugs) Just like everyone here, I want to know what happened to little Aliayah. I hate going to sleep without knowing, and its worse waking up in the morning, with no news. I hate feeling so helpless, and wish that parents who are too stressed to deal with their littleones would just be generous enough, to give the children to someone (like any of us) who would just love them to pieces.

Little Aliayah-my prayer is that one day, you will know how truly loved you are.

I agree with you CJMajorGirl - this case is just devastating.... I think about this poor baby every single day, and pray she will be found soon.... it just breaks my heart that nobody in her family ever stood up for this child...

(Hugs) back at ya!! And Hugs to Aliayah, as well.... you are loved by so many that never even met you baby girl....

Where are you little Aliayah?? :(

RL's step father's picture is in our local weekly paper this week as a new registered sex offender for our county. He was convicted in march in 1990 and served 17 1/2 years. If he was released recently, he must have been back in for another charge. Or, he recently moved from another county.

Sharedspirit, He is listed as being in Ritchie County, 48 FREDRICK ROAD AUBURN in the SOR. Is this the address that was given in your local paper? I am a bit confused.

I'm not home right now but I'll check this evening. I'm pretty sure it's that address. I'm positive that it was auburn but not positive about the road.

Our local paper puts in names, pictures & addresses of every new sex offender when they are added to the list.

Law enforcement authorities have refocused their search for a missing 3-year-old to the western end of Lewis County. Federal Bureau of Investigation Special agent Jeff Killeen said the move was made based on what he called "valuable information" received from the community.

The search for Aliayah Lunsford, missing since Sept. 24, in now centered in the Vadis area, which is located off of U.S. 33 west. According to reports, it has included both boat and K9 searches.

In an effort to strengthen the search, the FBI mobile command unit has been moved from its location at the West Virginia State Police Barracks just off of U.S. 33 east to near the Midway Volunteer Fire Department.

That's exactly what my wife said. It's almost as if the extended family is using the "gag order" to cover their slow response to releasing those photos. But that is just my opinion.

You posted very closely to what I was going to reply with regards to family releasing photo's this much later after a person has been reported missing. In general, when I have spoken directly with LE regarding other missing persons cases I have been told "only photo's available" are generally due to lack of cooperation from family providing photo's.

I'm not sure about a gag order, but I have to wonder if there is some fear which might exist in Aliayah's extended family based on LL and RL's criminal record. I'd almost guess they had initially decided to hold back or stand back from LE's investigation hoping LE would have solved it by now. As for my reasoning, let me try and explain. Extended family would have no idea what kind of contacts or networking RL and LL may have met while doing time. That might have instilled some caution or fear in them. I know for myself it would. They may have decided enough time has passed that they are no longer willing to allow that 'fear' to continue refraining from further cooperation with LE. I could be wrong, but it seems plausible to me. (jmo) ETA: I'm not trying to make excuses for them. I am simply putting myself in a scenario of cooperating with LE fully knowing I am dealing with persons who have experience with hard core prison inmates.

Please come home today Aliayah. We are all praying for your return and answers into your disappearance.

Thanks again to the local members for their valuable posts! And, if you are reading, a really big special thanks to the family members who are now speaking out! I look forward to seeing some pictures of a happy Aliayah.

I am probably naive, but I am still hoping somebody has this little girl and she is still alive. Abused, but alive, is better than dead to me. I need to believe that love and time can heal many of the scars of abuse at 3 years old.

This little baby girl deserves to have a full happy life...if that is not possible, I bet she will be a guardian angel to her little brother and the unborn twins.

Grandma isn't related to Ronald Cummings by any chance is she? (Kidding....don't start that rumor)

I was going to try and avoid commenting about the family....but I can't help myself.
I have no problem with extended family making pleas in the media. Especially since the immediate family doesn't see the need to. But what I do have a problem with is the extended family only coming forward because they feel they have been represented unfairly. Did they come forward to defend Aliayah or themselves? all imo.

I won't go into all the drama-rama between some of the family members that played out on FB (not VB). But they did not feel compelled to speak out in the media, only on facebook?

I totally agree with you though Lynnb, their attitudes are defensive. I'll overlook that if they put more pictures of Aliayah out in the media. They stated they were going to do that!!!

The "public materials" are more pictures of Aliayah. The extended family is just now gathering them for future release. After being told by these people "personally" that there are no other pictures available, I am just beside myself. Our community has spent thousands of hours searching, passing out flyers, organizing petitions, the balloon launch, calling/emailing news media around the country, and now the extended family comes forward saying that there are more pictures.

OK, now we know there are other pictures of Aliayah. Why haven't these pictures been released on Monday when the so-called gag order was lifted? Only by getting the most up-to-date information out to the world would this help Aliayah if she had been abducted.

My take on the gag order being placed on the immediate family was to insure that LE got the information first, rather than hear it on the TV. I don't see why it was placed on the extended family, or even if it was actually placed on the extended family.

I have to hand it to Agent Killeen. He took over an investigation that was already floundering, and I'd hate to see all of the blame placed on this man's shoulders if Aliayah is not found. What I've read about him is that he is a no-nonsense investigator, who prides himself at getting the job done. I can't imagine the weight he must feel.

Thank you for sharing that, I feel for the frustration this has caused you and other locals. Did the pictures magically appear? Why wouldn't they have came forward with them earlier? My only thought is they are going to be older than the two we have seen to date.

I too think Killeen is doing the best job he can, with the info he has.

If what I'm reading is true...that may not be happening.
What I'm reading is a lot of excuses. The FBI took all Lena's pictures.....grandma is too distraught to look thru any pictures to see what she has...etc etc.

I am hoping to see some pictures surface, but at this point I'm not holding my breath.

I think the family's concern about talking to the media is valid. That is based on my own experience with watching local media. They make a lot of mistakes in reporting and in a situation like this, I can see why they don't want to be mis quoted on the media. That said, I would still talk to the media if this child was my family member! Mistakes or not, at least the story would be kept out there so folks would see it.

I agree. That distraught, she should be hospitalized! Anything short of that, get the pictures out there! LE still hasn't ruled out an abduction. She could be anywhere by now!

I searched for Aliayah the first week, and I have since lost hope. I searched for Robbie Wood earlier this week, and had just about lost hope, when lo and behold, he was found.

Let's hope something positive breaks in this case soon.

And Christ, I hope I don't have to search for any more missing kids for the rest of this year.

Sharedspirit, He is listed as being in Ritchie County, 48 FREDRICK ROAD AUBURN in the SOR. Is this the address that was given in your local paper? I am a bit confused.

I checked. Yes, that is the address. The newspaper specifically says that both RSO's, including RL's stepfather, are new to the list for Ritchie County. I could scan & post but I think that's a copyright violation.

Just to let you know, this week on the Aliayah Law FB group we started profiling a child a day who's been killed or injured severely by abuse and focusing on how the perpetrator is/was handled in the court system here in WV. I got to the second day and found 21-month old child, which I call Baby John Doe.

John Doe was injured back in August of 2010 by Christopher Sheppard in Buckhannon, WV. That's only 15 miles down the road. The child died sometime earlier this year, with CS charged with the crime.

I have searched news archives, news websites, obituaries, social security death index, court filings and have found NOTHING! This poor child doesn't even have a name and will not be fully avenged when the perp is finally convicted.

I spent three days travelling, digging, pounding my head against the CRT and came up with zilch. Is that how West Virginia wants it's image to be - totally callous when it comes to childrens rights?

VM is saying she only could gets pics from Aliayah's 1st birthday as the newest but they all have to be cropped to take out other children.
She is claiming the authorities have all the other pics of Aliayah and have not returned them yet.

So I'm supposed to believe that the authorities have a ton of current pictures of a missing child but they do not feel the need to let the public see them? I'm calling BS on this one.
(I do hope the family will prove me wrong)

As with most google searches, the baby's name can be found by using carefully-chosen keywords. I found his obituary very quickly. However, since some articles I read stated that the State Police weren't releasing his name (and it appears that it hasn't been released in court documents yet), I'm not going to share it, either.

I don't know that the use of John Doe instead of his name can really be called 'callous', though. Perhaps there is a policy about not releasing a (minor) victim's name in certain circumstances.

Back to Aliayah... I'm really hoping that the FBI knows far more than what they're saying publicly about this case, and that there are some answers soon.
