Judge allows Tom to reask question about cancer
Halsey says no he was not treating #NatalieCochran for cancer
Tom – did you try to verify Natalie’s statements about having cancer
Halsey – technically no but I was trying to help refer her to Duke…

...Tom – did you ever get any result from the Duke visit
Halsey – no, but I tried to get records

I think Michael was allergic to promethazine – it would be in the testimony but I can’t remember who said that first. I know they said he was allergic to benzodiazepine
Tom: is asking what would happen to someone if they were allergic to promethazine and took it…

...Halsey – said a person could experience nauseous, vomiting, diarrhea - their throat could also close up where they could not breathe and would be fatal if not treated. Halsey also said the oral promethazine he prescribed on Feb. 6, 2019…

...was for Natalie not Michael as he did not see Michael that day.

Tom asked Halsey if he prescribed Xanax to #NatalieCochran on the week before Feb. 6, 2019.Halsey said Natalie was on Xanax but does not know when he may have filed a prescription refill.Tom asks if Xanax is a type of a benzodiazepine.Halsey said yes…

...Michael is allergic to benzodiazepine but it was found in his system when he was admitted to the hospital.

Here's what has been previously reported about #NatalieCochran 's medical conditions - cancer and heart problems Natalie had battled health problems in the months prior to Mike's death. She said that she battles chronic illness. After she had heart surgery…

...a doctor at Charleston Area Medical Center diagnosed her with lymphocytic leukemia, which is blood and bone marrow cancer. Natalie said CAMC referred her to Cleveland Clinic, but it did not accept her insurance, leading her to go to Duke University Hospital…

...in Durham, N.C., for treatment. At Duke, she said, doctors told her she did not have lymphocytic leukemia. Duke physicians diagnosed Natalie with myelofibrosis, a rare form of bone marrow cancer that has a slow progression rate but results in patients…

...feeling weak due to severe anemia.

I would just like to point out that neither side is presenting medical records proving #NatalieCochran had cancer.Halsey also never saw records to that effect he simply spoke with Natalie about what she said she had been told by doctors….

...Halsey stopped being Natalie’s family physician in March 2019 which is a month after Michael died.

It doesnt prove guilt of the crime she is accused of; however, absolutely cant tolerance lying about having chronic lymphocytic leukemia or any other type of cancer, shame on her, if true, imo.

Stanley is saying there are no records of Natalie’s cancer for Halsey to receive because at the time, #NatalieCochran was still “investigating” whether or not she had cancer after someone at CAMC told her following her heart surgery, that she had cancer…

...Oh the tangled web we weave.

Now for the defenses final witness - Dr. Priya Banerjee, a forensic pathologist of 14 years from Rhode Island. I thinks she’s suppose to be the defenses star expert witness.

I'm hoping they'll get her on the stand today and then the jury can start deliberating. [Oh, but I forgot that there has to be closing arguments -- don't know if all of that can happen by C.O.B. today -- revising my guesstimate: they'll drag out this witness and then will put NC on the stand tomorrow]

Stanley is about to show a photo taken during Michael’s autopsy – he warned the jury that it is gruesome.#NatalieCochran and Michael’s daughter just left the courtroom, Natalie’s mom followed shortly after. Michael’s mother is crying and visibly shaking….

...Stanley is now showing the picture to the courtroom and Michael’s mom can be heard audibly sobbing.
The photo shows Michael during his autopsy which was seven months after Michael died. I can't even describe what it looks like. I just can't.

Banerjeee said Michael had an enlarged heart. According to her records Michael was taking clomiphene citrate and Sudafed at the time of his death. She said those drugs can cause the heart to go out of beat and kill a person with an enlarged heart....

...We have already learned that the bottle of clomiphene citrate was mislabel and it was actually letrozole and glycerol

Banerjee added that there is also no way to rule out that Michael had a tumor on his pancreas when he died because his body was decomposing when the first autopsy was conducted. Banerjee said low blood sugar is an effect of a tumor on the pancreas.

Banerjee said an autopsy would be conducted within a week of death to get "meaningful results"

Stanley – could Michael have overdosed on benzodiazepine prior to death?
Banerjee – Yes
Michael was allergic to benzodiazepine.
#NatalieCochran had a prescription for Xanax, a benzodiazepine

Stanley – could Michael have a lowered blood sugar as a result of a benzodiazepine overdose

Banerjee - yes

Defense has two witnesses (other than Natalie Cochran) left to call. A local physician and a forensic pathologist. Both are in person in the courtroom – hallelujah

Defense calls Dr. Zachary Halsey - he works at AccessHealth in Daniel’s. Worked there for 10.5 years as a family physician.

Halsey treated #NatalieCochran on Feb 5, 2019 at AccessHealth in Daniels – she was having flu like symptoms, complained of body aches, tested for flu and strep but they were negativeGave her no prescription or shot on Feb. 5..

...Halsey said he later gave Natalie an oral steroid, which Halsey agreed can increase the blood sugar

Stanley asks if its abnormal for person to ask for insulin to lower blood sugar in this case when they're given a steroid showHalsey just states that insulin lowers blood sugarIf you remember, #NatalieCochran texted Jennifer that she had high blood sugar due…

...to a “high dose” steroid injection. This is when Jennifer offers to bring Natalie insulin.

On Feb 6, 2019 sometime between 8-10 a.m. #NatalieCochran sees Halsey at AccessHealth in Daniels again due to illness – she tests negative for flu but Halsey does says that Natalie appears sickHalsey gives Natalie a shot of promethazine as well as a prescription…

...for oral promethazine (likely for Michael) Halsey says promethazine causes drowsiness which Stanley is using as an excuse for why Natalie should not have flown that day. But Natalie canceled the flight to Virginia at 6:30 a.m. – hours before visiting a doctor.

Tom Truman now questioning Halsey

Tom – as her primary care physician were you treating #NatalieCochran for any type of cancer.(Me on the edge of my seat)Stanley – OBJECTION – can we approach judgeDamn.

NatalieCochran pointing out something on the report generated by Halsey regarding getting reports from Duke and CAMC about Natalie’s cancer.

I've been told to anticipate a loooooooong questioning of Banerjee by Stanley is his lovely monotone voice which will definitely not put us all to sleep.

Going to interject my thoughts here for a second.Stanley dissed on Dr. Krieger when she was talking about “cause of death” because she is an endocrinologist not a forensic pathologist. However now he’s asking Dr. Banerjee, a forensic pathologist…

...about “low blood sugar” which is not in her area of expertise. He’s also asking about how long injectable insulin can be in the body. Banerjee is saying she had to do research on insulin and its specific effects but she’s still offering up an opinion…

...Prosecution has been silent – no objections.

Banerjee said she is basing her answers regarding insulin on the manufacturer insert for the drug Humalog insulin and on her research of insulin not from the treatment of any patients with diabetes.Banerjee said it’s “beyond her expertise” because she’s not an endocrinologist.

Tom is now cross examining Banerjee

Tom describing insulin as the “perfect murder” weapon
Banerjee admits that if insulin was used to kill someone it would be “challenging” to detect
