I’m kinda surprised the defense hasn’t had more injections. The prosecutor has been making all sorts of comments before his questions (like the “nefarious Mexican drugs”) perhaps knowing the Judge has overruled so many of them they’re not objecting as much. JMOO.

I also don’t think the questions about “did you see proof of these 2 blood pressure pills in his system?” when her answer is there was no testing/toxicology to report *anything* let alone any specific medications isn’t the “gotcha” that the State may think it is. But I really wonder how the jury is taking it. I like this witness, I thought she explained things well and seemed to want to be precise with her answers. But JMOO

Tom states that Michael was driven to the hospital by Chris Davis, with #NatalieCochran in the back seat with Michael. It was around 7:30 p.m. on Feb 6, 2019.It takes 30 mins to get from Daniels where the Cochran’s live to Raleigh General Hospital.Tom is saying it was dark…

...and Natalie was in the back seat with Michael at the time. If I’m understanding this correctly, Tom is alluding to Natalie injecting Michael with insulin while he was passed out in the vehicle with Chris on the way to the hospital. I’m sorry what?!?!?!?!

Stanley – if Natalie killed Michael, would it not have been wise to cremate the body….

Tom finally objected to Stanleys assumptions of Michael’s assumed conditions and diseased prior to death.
Judge agreed and Stanley’s line of questioning stopped.

the State’s line of questioning about things clearly not found in the medical record (example, as this Doctor said that the pancreas wasn’t in any condition at autopsies to be able determine anything…) seems a bit like that whole “absence of evidence is not evidence of absence”.

I understand why the State wants to keep pushing on this “you didn’t see that in the record, right?” lines of questioning but IMOO if something couldn’t be tested, for whatever reason, automatically going with the more negative answer (which also happens to favor the state here, in that there was “no pancreatic tumor) seems a bit disingenuous to me. JMOO tho

Going to interject my thoughts here for a second.Stanley dissed on Dr. Krieger when she was talking about “cause of death” because she is an endocrinologist not a forensic pathologist. However now he’s asking Dr. Banerjee, a forensic pathologist…

...about “low blood sugar” which is not in her area of expertise. He’s also asking about how long injectable insulin can be in the body. Banerjee is saying she had to do research on insulin and its specific effects but she’s still offering up an opinion…

...Prosecution has been silent – no objections.

Banerjee said she is basing her answers regarding insulin on the manufacturer insert for the drug Humalog insulin and on her research of insulin not from the treatment of any patients with diabetes.Banerjee said it’s “beyond her expertise” because she’s not an endocrinologist.

Tom is now cross examining Banerjee

Tom describing insulin as the “perfect murder” weaponBanerjee admits that if insulin was used to kill someone it would be “challenging” to detect

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Banerjee has been testifying for over two hours.

Tom finally objected to Stanleys assumptions of Michael’s assumed conditions and diseased prior to death.Judge agreed and Stanley’s line of questioning stopped.

Judge say's he has to deal with "legal matters" with the attorneys at 9 a.m. on Tuesday but the jury does not have to report back until 10 a.m. tomorrow

I don't think #NatalieCochran is testifying. At all

For those of you asking about #NatalieCochran ’s counsel – Matthew Victor and Stanley Selden (I’ve been writing Seldon but found out today I was wrong) are appointed.Natalie sent a letter to a Raleigh County Circuit judge on Nov. 20, 2019, the day after she was indicted…

…for first-degree murder in her husband’s death, asking for an appointed counsel. In the letter Natalie says she’s sure the judge is aware that she’s currently in federal prison and that she’s “bankrupt.”She also tells the judge that she’s innocent and…

…“There is evidence to exonerate me and I am anxious to put this matter to rest once and for all.”

Attorneys for both sides are in the courtroom debating jury instructions.Jury instructions are the legal guidelines given to the jury that they rely on to come up with a verdict. There's a discussion about if the jury could potential render a verdict to a lesser...

...charge of involuntary manslaughter instead of first-degree murder. This is the first time a lesser charge has been brought up so I'm not really sure of the protocol here.

LIVE: Husband Poisoned Murder Trial — WVA v. Natalie Cochran — Day Eight

Natalie Cochran is set to face trial after being accused of killing her husband, Michael Cochran, by poisoning him with insulin in 2019. Initially charged with first-degree murder in 2019, the charges were later dismissed until new evidence emerged in the case. If convicted, Cochran could face life in prison.

Here's what's going to happen next

1) Defense will rest their case
2) Prosecution will call its rebuttal witness
3) Closing arguments
4) Judge will read jury instruction to jury
5) Jury will deliberate
And then we wait...

Prosecution just handed the defense a stack of documents. The first page looked like it was print outs of text messages. For the rebuttal witness maybe?

Truman and Stanley arguing about the documents I think. I heard Truman say “I’m not caving in on this.”Then Matthew called them both children and now they’re back up with the judge for a sidebar.

I think the judge’s face says what we’re all thinking…we’re now taking a 10 min recess.

Judge is back in the room and wants to bring the jury back in to hear the prosecutions rebuttal witness. Stanley says no he is definitely not ready – the prosecution handed him a “stack” of documents and he’s only half way through them
Truman said the defense has already...

...had these documents as they were downloaded from #NatalieCochran ’s phone. Now they’re going through the pages one by one and eliminating some. Judge says he will give them 5 more minutes and it setting a timer.

Stanley has two more minutes by my timer...

One more minute
