I hadn't seen the latest FBI document release until today. That additional domestic violence witness report (the one where Brian was reportedly seen closed-fist punching her while driving) was so sad. That, and it was really interesting to read the TikToker's FBI report -- it certainly matched the story she told publicly, and it sounded like the FBI thought it was credible.
Was that part 3?

edited to add: I can't believe a family did a U-turn to stop and watch Brian Laundrie act like a "lunatic" for 10-15 min?

A Utah Judge has ruled to dismiss the civil case filed by #GabbyPetito's family alleging officers failed to protect Gabby during the 2021 domestic incident involving Brian Laundrie.

The Petito family says they will continue pursuing justice for Gabby.

I guess I should have expected this outcome.
We are powerless when the police refuse to follow procedure.

This case is similar, the city cited Castle Rock v Gonzales to explain away why police should not be held accountable for failing to enforce restraining orders:
Lawyers for the city of Bellevue had argued in court that the police department shouldn’t be held liable for failing to enforce a no-contact order and arrest warrant for Christopher Prichard, who subsequently murdered his estranged wife, Angela Prichard, in October 2022.

Angela Prichard died a preventable death. Restraining orders should be enforceable.

There are a few big legal distinctions between the Petito matter and the Castle Rock case. In that case, the events unfolded quickly, hours between the police failure to act and the deaths of the kids. In Gabby's case, there was a month. So honestly even if Gabby's family appeals and gets the Utah Governmental Immunity act overturned, I still don't think it helps. There is no way they can show that the Moab Police officers action or inaction is the proximate cause of Gabby's death. There is just too much intervening time and intervening actions.

American Murder: Gabby Petito, a new three-part documentary series, goes beyond the media frenzy to let Petito’s family and friends share her story. Illustrated with real text messages, video footage, and excerpts from Petito’s personal journals, the series captures the reality of a young woman enmeshed in an abusive relationship behind closed doors — even as she put on a happy, “Insta-perfect” face for social media.

This is going to be SO sad to watch... :(

After having followed this case so intensely as many of us did and knowing every single thing that happened I agree totally. I can’t imagine what it must be like to have to relive this as a family member or friend, it makes me feel a little anxious bringing it all back but I know they’ve fully participated in it so it’s their choice. I’m curious about it but at the same time actually quite hesitant to watch it.

I actually don't know the story that well, but knowing the victim's family participated in the documentary will watch it as i do want to know Gabby's story. Feel so sad that another woman was killed by her partner and had such a stressful relationship with someone abusive. :(
I really respect Gabby's father for advocating for victim's that have not had the privilege of media coverage that his daughter had and will 100% support his show when it comes out.

Agreed. I still cannot believe that this happened to Gabby and that the police did wth they did, which was basically NOTHING to help her--it still grinds my gears something awful :| Hopefully young women everywhere will learn something valuable from this documentary and it can prevent something like this from happening to other innocent lives. Especially and including young budding Social Media 'influencers'. mho

Prayers up to Gabby's entire family for continued healing and for helping Gabby's name live on for the greater good and education of abused people (women AND men) everywhere.

To me, the most mysterious part of the whole story is Brian's trip back to Florida and Gabby's solo stay in Utah. When was his trip planned and why did he really go? (I suspect it was unplanned, they were fighting and wanted some time to cool off, but that's not the explanation his parents gave -- did they know why?). How did she end up going to Ogden (where she was photographed in front of the Monarch butterfly mural)? Did she drive there? Did she have plans with someone, or did she go alone? I hope that the doc explains that "lost week" in the timeline.

I speculate there was talk of breaking up. He might have threatened to leave her, left for Florida WITH HER CAR KEYS. Abusive as hell.

They were both enmeshed, codependent. Who knows what garbage he was spewing. Came back full of all kinds of promises perhaps.

Cycle of abuse.
