Huh. Look at the massive amounts of second guessing and speculation - and accusation - Bertolino (and Laundrie) have received. If they now had a so-called death penalty attorney show up (publicly) just imagine the cries of "see, even they know he's gonna get convicted). Tell me the news - and this very message board - wouldn't be bursting with such commentary the instant such counsel was known.

I don't think anyone would think it strange for someone closely associated with a homicide to hire a qualified criminal defense lawyer. A qualified criminal defense lawyer may have been able to end this weeks ago with a negotiated surrender.

Bertolino has been criticized because he lost his client, he's not admitted to practice law in Florida, he doesn't practice criminal law outside of DUI, and he released false information about where the Mustang was on Tuesday. I don't see how anyone could think this is the right step to protect the defendant's rights.

Based on how uncooperative they have been with GP’s family, and GP’s family BEGGING them to assist, my guess is they have not been transparent.

This photo is from the FBI raiding their home. To me, it doesn’t appear as though they were dealing with cooperative people.

Police slammed for letting 'person of interest' slip away after likely remains of Gabby Petito found | Daily Mail Online
It's Gabby's home...figure after she was found they would HAVE to visit HER home. I get that it is easy to conflate that with his parents, but it was her home. It is completely logical and understandable that they would need to check it out, separate from anything related to his parents' actions. But we most certainly do not yet know. As far as I am aware, the warrant or request for that visit is yet to be released.

For those of you who truly believe BL is on a suicide mission of one kind or another...
he had 2300 miles of open country between the crime scene and North Port to chose for a suicide.
He didn't.

True of course but MOO he wasn’t yet being very actively pursued by the entire region. That and the pressure of this sort of environment can get to you, not to mention potentially water, food, sleep and shelter compromised.

Why would the investigative team leave an elaborate cross made out of rocks at the site of GP's recovery? That seems so tacky and unprofessional
Do you know for a fact it was them? I can't find anything that confirms that it was the investigative team. Can anyone confirm this? If it was in fact them, that does seem very unprofessional.

New here - but has anyone other than family confirmed BL was physically seen back in Florida? And if so- when?
Well how else would the van get back to Florida?
Neighbour claimed she saw him too.
yes understood- I think he is likely in Fl and likely drove the van. Some have speculated a parent could have flown out nd driven it back (as he had just flown to Fl himself to move storage items) I think it is most likely BL drove the van. But- important to line up the concrete facts of evidence. Has he ever been documented as being seen in Florida by anyone other than family?

How can he possibly still be alive if he's hiding out in the wild with no resources.
Everyone is going to feel so cheated if this turns out to be the case.
Wish I could come up with another scenario where he could still be alive, but I can't seem to...
IF he was hiding in the wild with no resources - fresh water, food, shelter - he would not be alive after more than a week. And that's especially true giving the nature of the Reserve, which has been discussed a few times on these threads.

The scenario in which he could still be alive is that he is no longer in the wild and has water, food, and shelter. I vaguely recall an incident where two escaped convicts hid out in a cabin for a while, for example.

The thing with BL is that he was allegedly hiking on foot. (Where is his bike?) I haven't been able to keep up with the threads, but did anyone actually SEE him hiking in the Reserve?

"I was recently made aware of photos of Gabby Petito on the Yelp page for my law firm. Please know that I do not control the Yelp page nor did I upload the photos. I urge Yelp to remove these images immediately."

Where's my $300/hr?

Yes, it wasn't very tactful on his part. Now is not the time to get defensive when there are grieving parents involved.

A Petito family spokesperson has confirmed to our partners at

that this cross was left by the investigation team at the spot where Gabby’s body was recovered in Spread Creek.https://kutv.com/news/local/makeshift-cross-found-in-area-where-crews-searched-for-gabby-petito…

Bringing this over from the other thread so the links might not work.
I knew this was the case because it's exactly where the live feeds caught her remains that I saw. MOO She wasn't buried. There were some rocks pushed over her at most.
It's so beautiful there for such an untimely end.
I really think they were hiking and he lost it. I think it happened right there. :(
AND I really hope this isn't him in this pond because I want him to face justice.
