From what I read, the TikToker account was that he was alone and pulled off while she passed. She then saw the van parked elsewhere the next day or two. GP may have been at another location (maybe with wifi working on videos) and he went back to get her after checking out the campground. JMO on how the two can coexist.

I think she saw the van in the same spot over all those days??? No??

Thanks. I wasn't active for quite awhile. Seeing lots of oldtimers here on this case. I've got some time now, I'm still in Facebook jail...
I took a break as well. This case drew me in. Yep lot's of oldtimers and new faces. I would bail you out of FB jail but I'm still mad at it :D

But it hasn’t been proven by a prosecutor that he did murder her. So, who owned the van as of 9/1 when it came back doesn’t matter.

And that’s the last imma say about the vehicle ownership discussion.

(I feel bad for the night mods coming in. Hugs.)

It likely only matters in retrospect, from a legal perspective, if you're desperate to find something with which you can charge BL and BL is available to be detained. For example, in the Kara Kopetsky case, Kylr Yust was not initially charged with murder, but he was charged and detained because he stole and set fire to her car.

My mind is absolutely blown how can this guy outsmart the fbi?????

I'm just catching up on this Merry Piglet's situation now. Maybe that's why Brian REALLY didn't want to go back to Jackson Hole. IMO

im just catching up too and had the exact same thought, makes sense to me

What job are you referring to? I wasn't aware Brian had a real job.

At one point Brian and Gabby worked together at the same Publix. At least for a few months.

Friends stunned by Gabby Petito's disappearance, said couple was always happy

That is the only evidence I've ever read or seen that he actually worked anywhere.

IMO - a short-term Publix job would not provide adequate salary for someone to travel for months and months and pay for a nice customized van and all their equipment. They had a lot of good camping equipment that would have cost hundreds of $$$. Even if he's living rent-free at his parents' house. IMO

I just saw John Walsh on FoxNews say that it was the parents who went to the Mustang (Not that I believe anything the parents say) and left a note to BL pleading with him to not hurt himself. I'm not sure if this is true, but it seems that Walsh has connections on the inside and he may have been given this information.

I know there's been quite a bit of speculation being thrown around but for the most part I think he's a reliable source, IMO
It’s possible. I doubt they would have opened themselves up to those searches of their house unless they were scared that their precious son was likely to do himself harm. It’s pretty clear they’d go very far to protect him.

Now the gang's all here. Been almost 2 years for me. Kelsey Berreth case case was just too hard and I needed a break. It's good to see familiar faces.

I don't know the answer to your first question though it's possible the van was in another part of the Spread Creek camping area or somewhere else nearby.

With regard to why BL might've freaked out when hitchhiking. There were two roads going south from Colter Bay Village. One goes much closer to the Spread Creek dispersed camping area. If that indeed was him -- and I think it was -- he freaked out right where it would have been clear that they were on the road that was further from Spread Creek. He got out when they were pretty much west of Spread Creek -- he may not have wanted to pass it and go further south on that road, which was already further west than the campground.

JMO
I am very much in agreeance with this "wrong road" theory because most people would have taken the quickest route not the scenic. BL probably wanted to be on the quickest one not the scenic.

We have no idea how long the two of them have been planning and saving for this trip and how much family financial support they got for it. Also how much credit they had accumulated to use for hotels , etc

ha ha ha!! Not really trying to be funny....but this very same issue of "protection if institutionalized" is all part of two other outlandish cases many of us follow---the Daybell/Vallow Case, and the South Carolina mother/son murders....

sorry... not trying to make light, but it did trigger a laugh.

No worries, we can all use a little bit of lightening during this.

I'm on the newer side of the "true crime" scene, so I'm not familiar with those cases or the "protection if instituionalized" issue. :(

To me, to start building a defense of sorts would just make more sense than trying to keep him on the run long term. But, am not sure how that works legally speaking.

Cams? I thought the only “source” for this was a neighbor who did not have an exact date.

A camera catching the trio out and about in the camper would validate the source, and show when and where they went.

There are so many times while reading these threads that meme ‘Some of y’all never_____ and it shows’ pops into my head. I fill in the _____ with ‘experienced a missing person/murder case play out live in the media’
Amen!!

THIS is the important thing about the van. Not that he stole it, but that driving it to FL before her body was located could be used to support the proposition that he knew she was dead before anyone else did.

Or that he didn't know she was dead. I think that works both ways. Guess that why they have attorneys on both sides.

Yeah, and like I mentioned probably ten threads ago (wow), Al Capone did a lot of heinous things but what he ultimately got tagged for was tax evasion. The van thing could maybe possibly conceivably be something, anything, to charge BL with, and that's probably the only useful outlet for the "who owned it" discussion. And legally, it was hers. Sweat equity is not a real thing in terms of property ownership, it's made of feels and worth as much.

No one said it was an entry level job. Publix actually pays decent especially if you have been there for awhile. We have no idea how long Brian had worked there or what his wage was or that he was financially reliant on his parents.

There is a LOT of "opinion" of BL being touted as fact here. IMO

Agree with you. And truth about Publix as well.

Can someone confirm the letter on the Mustang? I thought the parents left the note for Brian and not the other way around.

I read someone who essentially stated all they had to do was fly over with heat sensors and they'd be able to find him. No need for all this manpower on the ground.

Yeah, I'm sure the FBI and all supporting agencies didn't think of that

I think they were too busy celebrating over the tip that they should check gas station receipts and phone records.
