I agree. Plus, I don't know where on his schedule he would have had the time to acquire any significant outdoor skills. He's not long out of high school. In the 2 weeks annual vacation from Publix? Lol.
Totally agree. I have no confidence in BL's ability to take care of himself indoors, much less outdoors. He acted like the victim with LE and they took care of him. He ran back to mommy and daddy so they could solve his problem.

This is the only thing I can find in the media thread that gives a date but I'll look some more.

Laundrie's neighbors say he and his parents packed up for long trip after he returned without Petito | Daily Mail Online
  • Brian Laundrie's neighbors said the family went on a camping trip using their small detached camper after he returned alone without the missing Gabby Petito
  • The family left for the camping trip on September 11 - the day Gabby was reported missing
  • DailyMail.com photos show that the camper was back in the driveway on September 13 - two days after she was reported missing
If that is accurate and they'd had the welfare check or whatever on 10th...!!!

I believe they contacted them, absolutely. I'm wondering how many texts they sent and what they said. I'm curious exactly what the Laundries ignored, especially in text. I can see not listening to voice mail. My parents don't even know how to check their iPhone voicemail.

I'm also very curious about GP calling them during the DV stop, and what she said to her parents, and whether her parents said anything about that to the Laundries (or to BL himself).
I am not sure that she did call her mother in that stop. I know that that male LE thought she was, but we have heard nothing from her mother about that. She did not look to me like she was calling anyone, just that she was fiddling with her phone, that Brian had retrieved from the van and LE gave it back to her.

Bored... watching a sherif helicopter circle an area in the Ocala national forest near trails right now for a while. Probably nothing, but it's soothing

Yeah- for all we know, he’s shaved, plucked his brows, dyed his hair blond & is sporting pink ambrosia lipstick as a trans hiker. The section of AT I know best is north GA into GSMNP & you can be SO UNSEEN for miles & miles of trail- plus adjacent tracks of National Forest & BLM land. When we first learned he headed to his neighborhood swamp, I thought AT. Still think that’s where he is. Imo
There are too many savvy hikers and hostel owners on the AT for someone to go incognito. I was at a hostel where the supervisor (a minister) turned a hiker into LE. Her hinky meter went off. Boom! Wanted by the FBI. He called himself Iditrod because he couldn't spell Iditarod correctly, so I knew he wasn't from Alaska as he claimed, but the minister had clearly been around a few more blocks than I. BL is not going to get far if he's on the AT. It's, like, the whole universe is looking for him, and that reward $$$$$, though skimpy in the scheme of things, is going to look awfully good to a crazy hungry thruhiker and his/her pals. Definitely motivating when you've nothing better to do than put one foot in front of another.

I thought at one point she texted Brian's mom that she was worried about the kids, or asked if she had heard from them. That probably would have been the 9th or 10th. Before that she may have been trying to text Brian but assumed they were still in a place with no service. Imo

The van was seized Sept 11– were they home ?? I think so and that’s when the lawyers card was handed to LE

I have seen two dates for when they went on the camping trip. I kind of believe it was the later date and I think the Labor Day weekend was suggested because it was the most logical date for a 3 day camping trip. Did not have to be that date though.

You sound like me every time I check and Sarasota isn't doing anything. Orlando is new! Jacksonville was out basically all weekend in the same area, but I don't think anything ever came out about it. Orlando seems more likely since his parents were just there.

Probably looking for a campfire.

I knew I had confusion about the dates, now I know why, well, I'm invariably confused re dates nd cannot be trusted .
They had been preparing for the 'camping trip' for a few days, neighbour said?

Didn't police go to the house on the 11th and they were home?

@oviedo, this is from Fox. The next weekend after the 1st was 11th & 12.

Neighbors: Brian Laundrie, parents went on trip with new camper after Gabby disappeared (fox13news.com)
Neighbors told Fox News Wednesday that the Laundrie family – Christopher and Roberta Laundrie and their son, Brian – appeared to go on a trip in a new camper about a week after Brian got back to Florida in Gabby Petito's van.

William and Charlene Guthrie told to Fox News they noticed the Laundries had gotten a new camper attachment for their pickup truck and were loading it up, presumably for a trip about a week into September.

[...]

"They were gone for the weekend," Charlene Guthrie added.

[...]

The Guthries said the supposed trip happened about a week after September 1, when Brian returned to Florida in Gabby’s camper van, which the couple had been driving across the country together.

Yes, I'm not sure she did either. I'm very curious about it. Maybe he was hoping she was calling her parents about it, or texting them. If she wasn't actually telling them about it, I wish she would have.

I'll eat my hat if he is but I really don't think BL is on the Appalachian Trail. As a hiker he'd know it's one of the busiest trails in the country. Even I have done many day hikes on the AT and I'm no hiker - it is always full of people from families on easy trails (or trails that connect with the main AT) to thru-hikers.

I live near the BRP/AT, this is not a time to be heading North on the trail. The leaves are changing, fall festivals in all these little towns, lot and lots of folks from all over the country. Once the trees shed their leaves, less cover, places to hide and most are heading to their mountain cabins. Park rangers and state police out in full force. Locals will be on the look out for him, its in all the private AT/BRP local groups.

The AT is federal land, a national park, all adjoining land is privately owned.

It would not be my choice of places to hide and I know NC and VA AT pretty well. I'd be headed west LA, SF, a large city get lost in the homeless population, change my looks, warm weather, sleep in a tent city.

Moo....
