The many faces of Brian Laundrie | Banfield

What would Brian Laundrie look like now with more than a month of new growth on his head and a beard? With a different hair color? Completely different clothes? Could he be hiding among us? Guinness Book of World Records’ most successful forensic artist Louis Gibson joins Banfield to try to answer these questions.

He looks like any number of men here. Could blend right in. If he can grow his head hair, look like a hippie , thin his eyebrows , hes golden. These days with sunglasses and face mask , no way he’d be recognized

It is hard to believe the FBI would be spending what looks like 1/2 years budget on tracking Brian down, and no one else.. the aircraft, the boats, the highly paid trackers, and staff and comms, and technology etc.....all that can't be for just a $1000 bankcard fraud.

I mean.. maybe it's a distraction while they track down the real person, but it seems a terribly expensive way to deflect...

Sorry, hit reply too soon.
I just wanted to say
That is subtlety in action.
Nice one!

Great thoughts, but don’t think the enviro crowd will offer him any respite or refuge. He killed one of their own in Gabby & I think they’d ostracize him & turn him in. Which brings it back to wilderness & the occasional trek to a petty theft spot. It’s just him, his burner & his parents imo. Mighty miserable existence ahead… imo

Just about anybody that sees him will turn him in for the $170,000.00+ reward.

If he is smart he will not try to make any "friends".

;)

MOO. She wasn’t protecting him, she was protecting herself from what would happen if she didn’t mitigate this situation for him by taking the blame. Sadly, the outcome was the same, but she didn’t know that would be the case.

This is a well-known dynamic of abusive relationships.

She doesn't want to be hit later because she "made" him do it.

a consciousness of guilt.. why run?..why not, in the company of a suitable legal representative rock in to the North Port Police,.. preferably, the Wyoming state police, but . perhaps he shifted her from where she was found from where he killed her (interfering with a corpse ) which the autopsy may refer to...
Crossed my mind too.

Do you know what gets me in the newly released body cam? The officer starts strong; he gathers information, checks statutes, talks to a witness, plays the good cop, shows empathy, connects with a supervisor, presents insight and options to the other LE on the scene. Nonetheless, paperwork and the seemingly green LE individual made the final decision.
Allegedly, and my own opinion.

Massively expensive waste. :0)

There is a very good article I found written by a domestic violence nonprofit. It clearly explains reactive abuse and the signs of it. I would like to post the link but I’m not sure if it is allowed. Which mod should I DM to get approval? (I don’t want a five day timeout! :)

That was a great vid- thanks for posting. Looking forward to seeing the sketch Gibson creates for what she thinks he will do to disguise himself. I keep wondering- do we know if BL is actually bald or does he just shave his head? I’d like to know if he has the option to grow out his hair or not…

Raw: Second body cam angle on Moab police stop of Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie

52 minutes

Sitting here in my jammies in the comfort of my home it's easy for me to second guess the call the officers made. I couldn't help but think that they didn't seem to run various outcomes through their talks with each other. Even if they thought the female was the aggressor, seeing her agitated state and how she became distraught when they mentioned separating, why did they not take into consideration that a mere few hours apart wasn't going to escalate the situation? So if it continued on she was still in very real danger of being harmed. Even if he was only trying to defend himself a shove could lead to her hitting her head and becoming injured or if it was near traffic she could accidently be pushed into a moving vehicle. Even if they went with the premise that she was the offending party and they arrested her perhaps she would have been so beside herself that she would have called her parents and they would have had an idea that she needed help. In an effort not to give her a criminal record they bent over backwards to give these "kids who had a slap fight" a pass. It was a deadly mistake.

Watching that new bodcam footage, which it feels like shows just how adamantly it portrays Gabby as the aggressor, well I had a terrible thought. I know we don’t have specifics on COD but what are thoughts as to whether BL would try to use self defense as a defense..
Would his ego let him do that? Mr. Mountain Man. Hiker above all others? That little girl who was crying while he was laffing with LE the day they were stopped? "Oh, don't let that mean girl (yeah, girl in his eyes) hurt me. All I can do is run and hide from her. I'm a wimp." Would his defense attorney go along with it?

Yep, exactly. I made far too many excuses for my ex and I know a lot of abused partners do every single day. It comes so natural at some point, the victim doesn’t even realize they are doing it. Poor Gabby. She deserved so much better.

That is interesting- and I agree, he no doubt excluded himself.

That aside, his use of the term brings to mind two points made by other posters:

1. He is probably going to be living a hand to mouth "racoon style" existence of soup kitchens supplemented by petty theft etc.

2. It is far easier to change ones appearance than ones habits.

The "people are an infestation" comment could point towards radical environmental beliefs or ideology. By habit, he may seek out like minded people who share (well to varying degrees of course) this belief and other environmental ideologies.

The next question could be: What areas feature a radical environmental "scene" including like minded people, book stores, coffee shops, hand out spots, travelling speakers and heck- I dont know concerts? and..... are also conducive to a racoon lifestyle?

I think most rural areas can be excluded. While they support raccoon life styles, they usually dont have radical environmental scenes. Moab might be an exception- but he would dare return there. Instead, I am thinking Portland, Seattle, or San Francisco. All have the eco scene and all of the cities tolerate and even facilitate raccoon life styles.
HaHa! BL is not going to be able to hang out with anyone if he tells them people are an "infestation", eco movement or no.

And I guess the irony of describing people like himself—guest visitors at National Parks and other outdoor settings—as an "infestation" completely escaped him.

I'm not sure what the idea is about Portland, Seattle, and SFO tolerating raccoon life. IME it's rather the opposite: there's no room left for people who are barely scraping by, and cities are pushing the least-advantaged out of their purview. Last time I was there, I was getting cruised by LE for cooking breakfast at a picnic table while I was traveling around.

There's no shame in having to use a soup kitchen and shelter facilities. There may be posters on WS who have that in their life situation.

BL isn't in any of these categories IMO. He comes from a family that seems to get by easily. He doesn't seem ever to have wanted for anything. Coddled by parents. Dependent. Taken care of. No way would he ever go for a hobo life eating meals at a soup kitchen. That's waaaaaaay too far beneath someone like that, at least right now.

Thread moving fast so maybe this has already been stated, but involuntary manslaughter--as in a simple push that resulted in her death--would still be homicide.
I had been looking that up earlier. Manslaughter involves the killing of another person, but it's distinct from the crime of murder. ... The absence of malice aforethought means that manslaughter involves less moral blame than either first or second degree murder.
But I think both would fall under homicide.
