It's a grim conclusion I've come to, there, but it would be a matter of suspending my critical facilities to believe that not only mum and dad, but sister also 'missed' calls.

It is well within the range of rational to claim that the Petito's didn't ring just once. They would have tried and redialled and tried again and again and again, and each unanswered call underlines the deliberateness of it. One could believe one missed call. Not hundreds. To various numbers.

These were frantic people ringing. People for whom the very worst that could happen to anyone appeared to be happening. .. they left messages. ......

As to what kind of people are they, I just don't have the words. Horrible doesn't cut it, for me.

This.

you have to call in or log on and "register" a gift card- and the company in charge has a record of the use of it

No; only if you want to keep track of the transactions. I give these to my kid for shopping on trips with her dad and she never has to register. If you had to register, scammers tricking people into paying said scammers with visa gift cards wouldn’t be a thing.

If the story is they had a big fight, and they broke up, why is HER van in HIS driveway, HIM having driven HER van all the way from Wyoming, and HER having to walk out of Grand Teton, with nothing. Not even a change of clothes...and why are we all talking about never answering the phone to any Petito number, huh??

And no access to money since he took her bank card too. Most likely also her phone.

Well, I really hope it's him, that he took his own life, and that he left a note to let the families know what happened. jmo

Detail, but where the body was found was in a national park, so the FBI is going to be the investigating agency there too. So there's at least one level less of potential interagency friction.

yeah, i just meant that the national park service won't be the agency reporting it if it is him...

All they had to do is answer, say “she isn’t here, and Brian is not talking. We are trying to find out more info.” The results would have been the same, and they would have at least shown compassion. When I first heard of this case it was very early on since I was visiting my folks in Long Island and it was being heavily reported on the local news 12 network. I immediately got hooked because the idea that a woman was missing, and her boyfriend she was traveling with has returned without her AND HE AND HIS FAMILY WAS REFUSING TO SAY A WORD ABOUT IT” just blew my mind. Like, WTF, are they even human?
And for the mum and dad and sister to all reach this same decision to behave in this manner, it is reasonable to assume that the three of them discussed it, agreed to it, and proceeded to act on that agreement, BEFORE the Petito's started ringing.

Because you wouldn't want any mistake made, would you. You would want that part of the agreement to run perfectly, because talking to the Petito's, answering that phone , you know what they are ringing about, you don't want to shoot your own foot off, ey? .

I understand, it's very frustrating not being given more details about what was said and what was done, and when and where. But, I highly doubt they wanted to discuss these questions with the children--I mean, how old are they? That's kind of an unrealistic expectation, don't you think?

Not Nat’l Park. Bridger-Teton National Forest, Spread Creek dispersed camping area.

You think that the family should have laid all of that on the kids? Wow...

I am curious about some details. If BL took off and disappeared after his mom and dad supposedly helped him to disappear like some believe, ...why then would they call police and say he was missing? Wouldn't it be advantageous to not say a word and let him disappear?

Another thing... BL's mom and dad were with him from day 1 of his return. They know or most likely know every single detail of his frame of mind, and they have heard his "story". There is no doubt in my mind that they have had to come to their own conclusions of what they believe happened ..therefore they are the only people in this entire situation, besides BL, who have the information that is needed to find him or to point LE in the right direction. Yet, they hired an attorney to aid them in being uncooperative from the onset....

Which takes me back to ...why would they report him missing if they helped him disappear and hired an attorney to hide behind?

The only reason I can come up with is they hid him somewhere safe because they have come to their own conclusion that he is innocent, even after Gabby was found deceased, and their reporting of him being missing was an aversion/deflection.
The parents did not report him missing. The attorney did.

So … the last time Brian spoke with Bertolino was ON the 13th and the Laundrie’s recently corrected their statement to say Brian left for a hike ON the 13th. But wait. Now there is reference to Christopher being gone for 3.5 hours to search the reserve ON the 13th, which is why the FBI had him out on foot searching the reserve for 3.5 hours, likely to try and show that Christopher wasn’t actually searching the reserve on the 13th.

So, Christopher searched the reserve for 3.5 hours on the 13th, but didn’t report his son missing until the 17th? 4 days later? Hmmmmm.

I have always wondered about this part. When on the 13th did he search? I thought they only realized he was missing when he didn’t come home that night? So dad went and tromped around in a flooded swampy park at night? In the dark?

The man has not been identified yet and due to the body’s advanced decomposition, the LA County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of death.”
Oh no.

Ashleigh Banfield repeat show on now 10 pm EST on News Nation channel.
Apparently she is on every weeknight, probably mostly covering this case as she did on HLN with the Watts case.
Tonight Joe Petito, John Walsh, Beth Holloway, one other parent of murdered child I'm not sure who she is.
Edit: Erin Runnion, mother of Samantha Runnion.
Edit: oh Joe is tearing up. I've actually never seen him tear up. He did while Erin was talking about establishing a foundation, how it keeps your daughter with you every day. Dear God the suffering of these people.
I love john walsh. He is so pissed off and doesn't give a sh*t what anyone thinks . imo.
Also, Sunday night tomorrow HLN 8pm EST new live update on GP case.

Don’t get excited like I did- that was Venice, CA, not Venice, FL. So not BL unless he travelled further than we imagined. Corrected my earlier post…

I highly doubt neither of those children said, where is Aunty Gabby. .. ... to not ask ( and I'm going on the sisters own words, the kids loved Gabby).. as I say, to not ask, is a highly unrealistic expectation. No one is anywhere near suggesting that the matter be discussed WITH the children, that would be silly, but it is reasonable to assume that those children would have not only noticed Gabby wasn't with Brian, but asked why. Kids do that sort of thing. Normal kids, that is...

The kids shouldn't have been there at all, unless they were specifically told not to mention Aunty Gabby, and there you have a very suspect action indeed.

i know people are a bit divided on whether or not they believe Cassie, and i don't pretend to know if she's telling the truth or not...but i'm pretty sure she has stated she didn't know the van was at her parents' house until after GP was reported missing...she also stated in her initial GMA interview that she assumed he flew home...so it's possible that she didn't know any details, or had been told a "story" about what had happened...imo

Thanks for linking this. ^^^

I can't keep anything straight at all.
I also thought his parents said something about last seeing him taking a walk out by the swamp area ?
And that was when they last saw him, and maybe the parents wanted people to know he was not at home; but not 'vanished' ?
Imo.

Just catching up after a while and this post had sirens blaring on it for me! ?

Is it a genuine exchange or frustrated snark brought about by where this case seems to heading right now (becoming cold) ?
It takes a longer amount of time for a case to be considered "cold." A cold case is one where every lead has fizzled out and no new information is coming in to police. Often a cold case sits for years while the investigators moves on to other things. This case right now is red hot with new leads and details almost every day. JMOO

Maybe scared, confused, never dealt with this kind of thing before? Unpolished in this type of situation. Hmmm...totally human.
