For the member having problems with duplicates. I’m sorry, this is moving so fast that I cannot find your comment but it isn’t you.

The software hangs up. After you post something, at least for me, it keeps that same post in a reply box below the main body of messages. So if you try to reply to another message, both will show up. And then there are the times when duplicates just happen — seems to be a different issue.

I deal with the text that gets leftover by selecting it all, deleting it, and placing an X or another letter at the very top. Give it a few minutes to save the draft and then move on — all the excess will disappear and leave the single character.

Your mileage may vary but this has worked for me.
to permanently erase any content in the reply box the fastest way is to delete it all and then click the save button which is a picture of a disk (for us old timers) once you save an empty comment box as a draft in this way, you should be good to go @Sachi

Is it a genuine exchange or frustrated snark brought about by where this case seems to heading right now (becoming cold) ?

Becoming cold? Tips (alleged sightings) are pouring in from everywhere.

Of course it takes time to ID a body however... How difficult would it be to ID BL? He has tattoos and a number of unique facial features.
It will take more time so they can notify the family in a respectful way.

Thank you for posting that, I would have had no idea how to post the photo. And the photo was kinda the main point (aside from the investigation).

presumably, they would also have to coordinate with, or defer to, the FBI if there is reason to believe it is BL...

It's also weird considering the sister made a point of mentioning how Gabby and her kids were close, how the kids loved Gabby etc. Wouldn't the kids be asking "Uncle Brian, where's Gabby?!" ?? Nobody knew GP was missing at that point. It's weird that they DIDN'T talk about her.
Not really. BL had already shown up at CL's house on Sep 1st with the parents, and without Gabby, again. The 2nd time in two weeks. The parents may well have told CL it was a sore subject and to zip it around BL. CL may have told the kids before the visit on the 6th that BL was sad about Gabby and not to bring it up during the visit. Kids are often shielded from adult problems in this way. jmo

The time has long passed, in my humble opinion. Once they reported Brian 'missing'.. it was over. Ovah. ...

Realistically.. once the Laundrie clan closed off the Petito's calls, ( before they started ringing, the fix was in...) they were expecting those calls from the Petito's.. I have no doubts about that ,, they knew Gabby's mum and dad would be ringing, they put in place the process not to answer any of those numbers.

( I have often wondered if the Petito's had used someone else's phone, would they have got a pickup?>. I think they would have. )
My God, what kind of “people” are they? I’ve never heard of anything like this.

It’s interesting that the search warrant doesn’t state that Gabby’s last text message is from August 30, and that her last text was from the 27th. Does that mean they have definitive proof that BL sent the “No service in Yosemite” text?

At this time, we only know that NS received the text message "No service in Yosemite" on August 30. NS does not think her daughter sent the text message. If BL sent the message, I don't think he was referring to Yosemite Park but to the meaning for the word's origin.

Also, a friend places some of her text messages on a timer for them to be sent at a specific time. Maybe she uses a special app for performing the function.

Missing Gabby Petito's final text message to mom revealed

Perhaps she didn't believe it came from her daughter because her daughter was not planning to go to Yosemite?

In the news article linked above, she says that the message was received on the 30th and the white van was in FL on the 1st:

“I do not believe the text on August 30th was from my daughter,” Schmidt said.

Asked why she had doubts, Schmidt replied, “The van was in Florida on the 1st [of September]. I think I can do the math.”

IKR? The way she said the kids were there, it sounded as though she was saying that of course they couldn't talk about murder in front of the kids! But that was on September 6th and she says she didn't even know Gabby was missing at that time. IMO, it should have been perfectly natural to talk about Gabby in front of the kids. The subject of Gabby should have come up, at least once, to ask how she was doing by herself in WY, had she and BL face-timed or texted or talked, etc.

To quote the NPPD PIO, "There's a lot of oddness."
But if the story was that he came back because they had had a big fight or that they had broken up, why would it be weird to not want to bring her up and encourage FaceTime, etc? I really don't get why everyone finds that odd. They were going to sit around having a conversation with the kids about fighting and breaking up?

A visa or Mastercard gift card? I have used these many times and have never had to register them with anyone. In fact, when I use them online, I have to fill the card holder name as "GIFT CARD RECIPIENT" or whatever it says on the card. MOO

Edit- I would call these the 'burner phones' of the credit card world.. lol

you can call or log in to check on the remaining balance so there is a record of use even if there is no record of the owner/user ID

North Port memorial for Gabby Petitio being taken down, items given to the Petito family

"There will be a permanent memorial including a bench at the site for Gabby"

The permanent one will be a metal bench. Creating this permanent memorial is a man from Indiana. North Port Mayor Jill Luke shared details with the media on Saturday, Oct. 9.

“The family is grateful that their daughter’s life, their relative’s life has touched so many people. This is for her to be remembered. They’re grateful for people who brought things, for the gentleman who is preparing the bench, for those who are showing the respect and honor for their daughter,” Luke explained.

“A man from Indiana is currently working with Petito’s family on creating the steel bench that will permanently be in place in honor of Petito,” the mayor also said. “The bench will be off in between a couple of trees in the shade. Steel in the sun isn’t that welcoming, and we want people to be able to come and sit and reflect.”

Detail, but where the body was found was in a national park, so the FBI is going to be the investigating agency there too. So there's at least one level less of potential interagency friction.

Edited to clarify: not Gabby. This guy, who people are wondering if might be BL:

Sheriff Len Hagaman tells WataugaOnline.com that information would be released by the National Park Service/Blue Ridge Parkway since it is their jurisdiction.

Body found on local section of Blue Ridge Parkway Saturday afternoon - WataugaOnline.com

My God, what kind of “people” are they? I’ve never heard of anything like this.
It's a grim conclusion I've come to, there, but it would be a matter of suspending my critical facilities to believe that not only mum and dad, but sister also 'missed' calls.

It is well within the range of rational to claim that the Petito's didn't ring just once. They would have tried and redialled and tried again and again and again, and each unanswered call underlines the deliberateness of it. One could believe one missed call. Not hundreds. To various numbers.

These were frantic people ringing. People for whom the very worst that could happen to anyone appeared to be happening. .. they left messages. ......

As to what kind of people are they, I just don't have the words. Horrible doesn't cut it, for me.

Agreed, and that's if they would've brought it up anyway. Kids don't really care where adults are, they just want them there. Seeing that she wasn't, they may have been disappointed, but probably would've just assumed she was working, traveling, in NY, etc. JMO

If the story is they had a big fight, and they broke up, why is HER van in HIS driveway, HIM having driven HER van all the way from Wyoming, and HER having to walk out of Grand Teton, with nothing. Not even a change of clothes...and why are we all talking about never answering the phone to any Petito number, huh??

All they had to do is answer, say “she isn’t here, and Brian is not talking. We are trying to find out more info.” The results would have been the same, and they would have at least shown compassion. When I first heard of this case it was very early on since I was visiting my folks in Long Island and it was being heavily reported on the local news 12 network. I immediately got hooked because the idea that a woman was missing, and her boyfriend she was traveling with has returned without her AND HE AND HIS FAMILY WAS REFUSING TO SAY A WORD ABOUT IT” just blew my mind. Like, WTF, are they even human?
