I generally agree. he is not above average intelligence, has no training or experience in real self sufficiency, survival or evasion. In $1,000 or a couple of thousand is not going to last long. He isn't going to be undetected overseas without a lot of money and I dont see that as rational decision. Of course there is nothing that pre-supposes his decisions are going to be rational anyway or that he might not get lucky. There are a lot of unoccupied structures near the Appalachian trail and if he had been out there before the heat really was on he could be holed up and be scavanging.

My own view is odds are around 50% than he committed suicide and will never be found and be the DB cooper of the decade with alleged sightings occurring regularly.

So my thinking is.. if they ID’d her by her tattoos and clothing, obviously (IMO I’m not trained in anything like this) something was done to her face that was so bad her face was unrecognizable.

I think the fact that the body was for 3 long weeks in the will of nature, flora and fauna were the factors that contributed to its prompt decomposition.

But would the coroner rule homicide so quickly if this was the case? I'm thinking a weapon was involved.
JMO
I'm very behind, but doesn't the coroner take into account all the circumstances known to come up with the COD? For example, last time she was seen, victim was in the middle of nowhere and its reported her van was driven to Florida by boyfriend, etc. , what was not seen around victim as well as what was, to reach a conclusion.

No it could just be she was badly decomposed and obviously the tattoos, sweatshirt and location were enough to spare the family from having to I'D her.

I’m surprised it’s so quiet in front of the L’s house, I thought it would be packed with people.

I’ve been saying this for ages. I’m a pretty fearless person. I travel solo, cut down and timber my own trees and always have a firearm on me. For context, I’ve never even seen a movie that scares me. Ever.

But I live on 100+ acres in VA not terribly far from the AT and I’ve had the jeebies being outside on my land alone since Brian has been missing. If CoD is released today and deductions are made that BL was the likely perp, LE better damn sure not withhold that information from us. IMO that would be terribly irresponsible for the safety of the public.
Now see, being “pretty fearless” yet getting “jeebies” would make me wonder if my intuition/instinct wasn’t trying to tell me something. Keep pack’n! You never know…

Lots of people were in the area. It was a campground. And it was full. Someone definitely would have heard a gunshot/s. From quite a distance, too.

"A handgun shot can be heard as far as 1 mile away depending on the conditions."

How Many Decibels Is A Gunshot | How Far Away Can You Hear a Gunshot

A subsonic 22 sounds more like a high powered pellet gun: much louder than movies depict, but not loud enough to be a disturbance at some distance. Of course, if it turns out that he picked up a box of subsonic rounds then we're looking at premeditation, which isn't really how I pictured this taking place. All just my opinion, of course.

Okay but AGAIN if she was so badly decomposed, how were her tattoos visible? They’re on the skin, not bone.

Hey everyone!

I'm out of the Websleuth jail and glad to be back.

I really hope that the press conference is fruitful in terms of revelations.

I think I saw someone say that it may be as limited as confirming a rough time period regarding her death, and that the body is indeed Gabby. I did think they had already confirmed the latter though, as I'm sure I'd read that Gabby's stepfather had to identify her body, but I could be wrong.

Many are thinking that the cause of death will be revealed to be a gunshot, but I don't know why but I feel that it was strangulation.

It feels almost wrong to guess or conjecture as to what it may be, but I suppose that's part and parcel of why we're all here on this thread.

MOO

I think if it isn’t a gunshot, it will probably be strangulation with a belt or something that was still around her neck, making it very clear it was a homicide.

JB says Petito family has received information ahead of press conference, as expected.

He crossed the creek with her.

Q I'd like to know whether she did it on her own or whether she was carried there. From CS photos looks like everything happened on other side (translation, she walked). MOO We'll see.

I'd also like to know what she was wearing at Merry Piglets and whether she was still in those clothes when she was found.

Finally, who sat next to BL on the SLC <---> Tampa legs and did he talk - because we know he tends to talk a lot (Moab, both hitchhikers, etc.) MOO
My strong suspicion is Brian was still ticked off when they returned to Spread Creek. To teach Gabby a lesson and distress her further, he grabbed a tent and some supplies and huffed off across the creek to make his own campsite, abandoning Gabby at the van for her to "calm down". It got dark. And cold. She puts on a sweatshirt and goes to where Brian set up his own little campsite.

And then, the SHTF and whatever happened, happened. Right there at the makeshift campsite. jmo

From my personal experience, her not "Defending him" in his mind- in public- enraged him to the point of killing her. I can not explain this, but it just sets off an explosion in DV abusers. Idk why. I nearly paid the ultimate price for doing exactly what Gabby is reported to have done. That is why I do not think she lived more than a few hours after they left the restaurant. Jmo

I'm not a DV abuser but when I think for some time and put myself in his shoes the only logical reason I would encounter would be that the reason to enrage for not "defending him" would be because of the fear of being seen as abusive because she is putting him into the spotlight by apologizing for his reaction.

I mean 3 weeks dead outside isn’t going to leave someone looking quite like themselves.

I probably should’ve included a link, sorry

JB Biunno says Gabby's parents have already been informed of the results of the autopsy.

Any chance we can spare the gruesome speculations for another 13 mins. Just a thought.....

If that’s the actual spot where they found her body it does not look like the soil below the stones was overturned at all. IMO I never thought she was buried. Someone would have needed quite a large shovel to dig a hole large enough to bury a body and even if you tried to be neat there would still be overturned earth. JMO
Well it was weeks before they found her and weeks since so any disturbed soil would look normal by now IMO
