So my thinking is.. if they ID’d her by her tattoos and clothing, obviously (IMO I’m not trained in anything like this) something was done to her face that was so bad her face was unrecognizable.

:( That's awful.

I really and truly hope that, however Gabby met her fate, that it wasn't prolonged and her suffering drawn out.

Being pushed and her falling and cracking her skull on a rock seems slightly more bearable news than finding out she was badly beaten in a sustained attack.

MOO

Is it likely that the Petito/Schultz family will have known for a while what is about to be revealed to us?

First, he said we can rule out more testing being done or testing being the reason for the autopsy taking this long.

“No kinds of tests would have required a month or even weeks,” Wecht said.

Wecht gets quite a bit wrong. Plenty of sources, including academic ones say up to four to six weeks for full tox report.

My strong suspicion is Brian was still ticked off when they returned to Spread Creek. To teach Gabby a lesson and distress her further, he grabbed a tent and some supplies and huffed off across the creek to make his own campsite, abandoning Gabby at the van for her to "calm down". It got dark. And cold. She puts on a sweatshirt and goes to where Brian set up his own little campsite.

And then, the SHTF and whatever happened, happened. Right there at the makeshift campsite. jmo

My thinking as well. IMO, it happened right there and it was a spontaneous act. I suspect COD will be blunt force trauma.

MOO.

I do hope whatever happened, happened fast. JB on WFLA Now said they have been notified of what’s going to be said but who knows how long they’ve known.. it’s possible I guess.

Okay but AGAIN if she was so badly decomposed, how were her tattoos visible? They’re on the skin, not bone.

How do we know her tattoos were visible? Is there a report I’ve missed? If so, please point me in the right direction lol.

But would the coroner rule homicide so quickly if this was the case? I'm thinking a weapon was involved.
JMO

I still think he choked her with his hands; would that qualify as a weapon?

I find myself going back and forth on this. I tend to agree with you. I am hopeful But the one thing that gives me pause is that Jim Schmidt was not given access (or asked to) identify her. This leads me to believe it was not as good as we hoped, but still sound like it was better than we imagined it could be. MOO

Because of her sweatshirt.

Given that her van had been spotted on video like a 5 minute walk from there probably helped narrow it down.

Thanks for the link! I was looking for TV break-in, not internet. It's all over the internet. I know BE posted NN links and Mass guy has JB link which I am now on. I still have on CNN, NN in background to see if they break into television programming.

Edit: anyone notice JB's feed ripping thru at lightening pace? Crazy. MOO

If your theory is right then:

1) Why doesn't he call the cops immediately?
2) Why does his family lawyer up immediately?
3) Why doesn't he notify his family immediately?

That's the least he can do since it was all "an accident", right?

I hear you , but in this scenario mostly because of potential bullet holes on the scene, he knows he will be the prime suspect, if not the only suspect just like he is now. Nothing it seems he did so far absolutely eliminates a poacher scenario. Of course, he should have called the police, but he didn't.

Well so much for that theory. Strangulation points more to Brian obviously
