The credit/debit card fraud in this case is interstate credit card fraud - he crossed state lines using her card, therefore it falls under the jurisdiction of the FBI as multiple states are involved from the state where he came into possession of the card, to the state that was her home address to the state where the card was issued to her.
MOO
Yes, we had been talking about the acts in spread creek, if they in fact occurred in spread creek.

Any attorneys that can comment on whether or not the laundries could be using this real estate attorney friend of theirs as a strategy to buy them time? Would any of his idiotic text messages, their strange behavior, etc be admissible in court down the road if they were able to claim inadequate representation? I’m trying to understand in what world a real estate attorney would agree to be the point person in a personal friend’s missing person/homicide case. Unless it’s just to buy time for Brian to get away, or whatever, knowing that attorney and clients can’t be held liable for their idiocy due to his being unqualified to represent or advise them. All of this is just my opinion and hypothetical as I try to put myself in SB’s head and what his thought process could be behind the show he’s putting on. Is he incompetent or is he purposely appearing incompetent? Pardon my non technical legal speak, lol. IMO
Edited to fix typo

I'm glad they have a clear picture of what happened. I'll be back when they find his femur in some random hiking swamp. Hopefully the FBI Denver gives a full report on what happened and there's an independent investigation into how NPPD lost him. But I think he's dead. I hope I'm wrong but I think he's dead.
I'm thinking the FBI, or whoever is still looking around out there in the reserve, must have set up cameras, or some way to bait him. Or maybe they are just looking for evidence, but they must have something that tells them BL is or was in there! Right? I'm heartbroken for Gabby and her family, sobhorribly sad. She had everything going for her, except her boyfriend.

Did they arrest the Anthony’s, no and Cindy did falsify info plus more, but this is not the thread to get into that.. I don’t think these parents will be arrested either….I don’t understand why LE on any level will not hold people responsible for interfering with justice especially like this. Even it’s a huge fine…but nothing happens.
If Laundries agree to testify before a Federal Grand Jury, they could get immunity for their participation in his escape....if they tell the truth. That's their best bet, as I see it. jmo

What are the potential list of defensible positions BL could take ? I believe, for BL to surrender, then his defense lawyer must have a reasonable defense. If not, then BL will remain missing as long as possible. And at that point, the challenge would be to bring him in alive to face justice. That is assuming that he currently has an indefensible positions

IMO there aren’t any legal defenses that hold water under the facts we have. That’s why I think he is being vigorously helped to stay hidden.

I am not convinced that these two were even having sex at this point; they didn’t seem to be getting along, and BL seemed to have some pretty profound hygiene issues, which might make it unlikely.

BL had plenty of issues (not just hygienic ones) that would've made it unlikely - at least with me anyway!
*shudder at the idea*

Ugh, just the very thought if it. Poor Gabby. She suffered in so many ways..... more than any young woman should have to.

Do you mean, they like to scratch while they are being throttled? Jeez-if somebody was strangling me during sex, you can be sure that I would scratch him. Anyway, I am not convinced that these two were even having sex at this point; they didn’t seem to be getting along, and BL seemed to have some pretty profound hygiene issues, which might make it unlikely.
With you 100% on this and to be clear, my comment (which was quoted up there somewhere) was in regard to her fighting back while being murdered by the guy who asked her to marry him at one point.

MOO, of course.

At one point @Cinna proposed another scenario wherein BL is not the killer. If this ends up being the case, I hope GP had THAT person's skin/blood under her nails.

I hope her fight against her killer helps nail her killer.

Last MOO.

If parents lied to help him will FBI arrest them? Is it a felony to lie to LE or FBI? Or is that just on tv programs?

It is illegal but will they actually arrest and indict them?
That's another issue.

I am surprised that people have not directly threatened the parents yet. Have they ?

I do wish they would leave the sister and her children alone, though because I don’t think they have done anything wrong here.
I'm not sure if the parents have been threatened, and I don't know if we'd even know if they had been.

He keeps the FBI and LE at bay and having to make an appointment to go to their home. Having an attorney is how BL was able to escape under LE’s noses. Because the parents refused to let LE speak to their idiot son. They could not have - would not have had the gumption to do that IMO - without their attorney protection and advice.

I’m not a big fan of the parents - in case no one has noticed.

Now, I think we cannot be as definite as we all want to be.

Many members have just pointed out open issues which may leave us back in "we still don't know yet" territory.

@AugustWest pointed out concurrent jurisdiction (which I would think they would kick it to the state) but @dacjess then reminded there are already outstanding federal charges (which I can't see them trying this case piecemeal if it ever gets to that point). So, not sure. Anyone have a thought on this?

It’s being investigated by the Feds. The Feds sent samples off from the autopsy. The Feds are searching for him. This is a federal case.

Once again , many thanks to posters of news outlets / Twitter feeds / SM posts and more . It's much appreciated from here in Scotland ! Followed from thread 1 and never has a case sucked me in so much . Even got DH asking for updates . One of these days we'll get the news of BLs capture and justice for the lovely Gabby .

As I posted a few times, I don't and never expected them to go for Murder 1. I believed and still do that there will be proof problems. This is why it was dumb of him to run. Because he keeps adding counts to any eventual indictment. Bad advice, if that advice was given. MOO

We may not like his lawyer, but I don’t think he advised the Laundrie family to send BL off somewhere to hide. Just my own opinion, but this hasn’t been a good idea, and it is very unlikely to have a good outcome for BL, or anyone else connected to him.

Can we take a minute to discuss how hard it is to strangle someone to death? It's not like on TV. They pass out long before they die. So he would have to have continued to choke her for a couple of minutes after she stopped fighting. It's hard to call this kind of manual strangulation rage/crime of passion because a strangler does have to put so much effort into it.

Yep. That's why it's almost always considered 1st Degree Murder -- it's not like shooting someone in the head or stabbing someone in the heart. It takes strength, and it takes time.
Here is one detective's comment; there are several others:

How long would it take for a person to die of strangulation?

In a fight if I were to hold you down and begin choking you it would take about a full minute for you to lose consciousness assuming your heart is pounding and breathing rapidly.

To kill the person you would have to continue to apply pressure sufficient to strangulate for about 4–5 min in order to ensure death…probably longer in some cases.

I'm 100% positive they have and we just don't know about it. JMO
