Honestly, I can see the dad, but the light makes her image unclear. I could not see who was next to him, at that point, before we “knew” the family so well, it could have easily been missed. Brian wasn’t a POI at that point, there was not the current interest in the case, and if things are like most cities, crime is well above normal, so it wouldn’t be the only case they were working on. I wish we could go back, get him back alive, make him answer, I wish we could go back and bring Gabby home alive on the 26th. But unfortunately, we cannot. Best case is that people learn more about DV, and that the Gabby Petito Foundation can help save lives. Gabby wanted to be a you tube star, and as sad as it is that she was killed, she will be far more famous, as I believe she will save so many more lives. As her dad said, she touched the world.
Well, I think we're trying too hard to justify what is possibly a pretty serious blunder by law enforcement.

They are trained professionals, and surveillance should be a routine thing for them, you know? I hope they usually do better.

I'm not trying to be argumentative here, but I think mostly Gabby wanted to travel and see the world. I think she thought maybe she could put her considerable artistic talent to work and earn a few bucks while she did so.

She has touched the world. I agree with that.

Genuinely surprised the L's are back home already. JMO

I agree. It could be a matter of wanting to be away from all of the scrutiny but at the same time wanting to be there to protect property, etc. IMO.

I think they should have gotten it right the first time, but I'll give the benefit of the doubt, maybe they <modsnip> weren't as vigilant as they should be. But there is no excuse for the next time they saw RL someone not saying " wait one <modsnip> minute, when did she get home?"

According to this - MP does NOT have wifi - https://www.allbiz.com/business/the...18zNCUoO.YU-1635284219-0-gqNtZGzNApCjcnBszQhl

Does The Merry Piglets Mexican Grill have Wireless Internet (WiFi) service available?
No, The Merry Piglets Mexican Grill does not have WiFi available at this location.

This info is outdated - The Merry Piglets definitely has WiFi.

Just including what the article stated. Again, SB is the only one who has stated that the FBI has the new phone Brian purchased. LE hasn't confirmed that, not that I was ever able to find. I've been confused by the phones since the beginning.

It started with MSM putting out stories that ATT had Brian and an "older woman" on camera buying a phone on 9/14. Brian Laundrie DID buy new phone on the day he went missing, lawyer confirms Then Brian's attorney stated Brian and his mother had purchased a new phone sometime after Brian returned home on 9/1 but he wasn't sure of the date. FBI Investigating New Phone Obtained by Brian Laundrie After His Return to Florida Later Brian's attorney stated the phone had been bought on 9/4 and that Brian had left the phone and his wallet behind when he left on 9/14.
Brian Laundrie bought new phone, attorney says Then we found out Brian had actually left on 9/13. But I've never found an article that states LE actually saying when Brian bought the new phone or whether they have it. In fact, at one point Brian's attorney kind of recanted and stated the FBI is in possession of a phone, but he's not sure which one. So if the waters are muddy enough, there you have it! :)
IMO I don't know what to believe. I certainly don't trust SB when he says anything because too much of what he's said has been either a mistake or a carefully worded lie. Until or unless I hear it from an FBI spokesperson, I remain confused.

According to the Laundries' family attorney, Steven Bertolino ... they did purchase a new phone, and he believes it's the one Brian left behind at home and the FBI is already in possession of it.
Feds Investigating Brian Laundrie's Alleged Burner Phone Purchased Day He was Last Seen

Excellent summary. I was especially confused by sB initially backing up the purchase was on 9/14-the day BL went missing.
I can’t come up with any good guesses why SB and the Ls were initially pushing 9/14 as the escape date. (Moo).

and SB first excuse/explanation was that the Ls were “relating” the incident with other incidents around that time and confused it. so they didn’t accurately remember the day CL searched for “4-5hrs?”

I’m smelling something in Denmark…

This case makes me mad, sad, disappointed.
Other than her parents, informed people of the Vanlife community and the dedicated people of LE who followed orders,
everyone failed Gabby.
If this case doesn't leave a lasting legacy of what NOT to do when young women are murdered by
their companions, we have lost a golden opportunity
to assure our daughters a long, happy and productive life.

: This misidentification did not have a big impact on costs and the investigation. Other than confusion, it likely changed nothing. There is a very good possibility that Brian was already deceased. He still needed to be found.

Hah! I should just repost my last post about this. They’re doing a cya and pointing fingers because of the $$$$$$

eta. Do they not get that they would not have had to do a “search” if they kept their eyes on Brian? It’s as easy as that.

Not sure what you are getting at, though there is a lot of posts and media attention spouting all sorts of nonsense the past month this tragic event was most likely over within 3 weeks of it starting. In that time the murder occurred, the murderer killed himself and the deceased remains were found. There is nothing stopping people from encouraging our daughters to not just leave toxic relationships, but to try to avoid getting into them in the first place.

If this had happened yesterday, that would have been a much different thing. What I was trying to convey, is that on 9/13, 9/14, we were not where we are now. Most of us were just starting to get into this case, as I am sure the NPPD and FBI were. Crime is uptick everywhere in this country since the pandemic. There wasn’t the focus on this case when it first happened. If this had happened a week after, knowing what we know now, a different story, obviously I and 99% of this page wish we could go back, but we had barely known about it at that point. She was reported missing 9/11. He is gone on 9/13. I don’t think that any of us saw the magnitude of this case until later. LE was watching, but not as closely as they would be this week or a couple of weeks prior. It is completely tragic, and looking back, yes, if we all knew now what we know, Brian could have been found sooner and we could know 100% more. If we could look back, we all would have saved Gabby. But where we are now, we can just hope that from this, Gabby’s foundation will save more people, and help the missing.

Oh my gosh, these two need to get a room. :( This is such an ongoing bad look for NPPD and for the Laundries. Can't everybody stop sniping at each other and just tell the truth? Including fully admitting all the mistakes that were made all around?
Seriously. Those two are one and the same.

That's a good point, privacy vs. protecting their property. JMO

How confident would you be doing a match based on dental records if only half the jaw were present?

Extremely. Forensic dentists do this with mass casualty situations frequently such as an airline crash or bombing. As long as there are dental records, they can usually figure out who they are, even if they are identifying more than 100 people.

My thoughts, too. And saying that they thought Mrs. L was BL, well maybe s/he only had a from shoulders up view. Yes, weak...

I was hoping to get an answer from a professional in the field. :)
I don't even know if the question can be answered because we don't know what's meant by "partial skull". It might be a small piece missing or it might be a small piece they found. I wondered how much of the jaw and dental area could be missing and still be able to make a confident id.

I was under the impression that some teeth were in his scull. I don't remember anywhere that the teeth were found alone. LE would not surely have had BL positively identified by a single tooth found independent of a partial scull.
Agree -- nothing about a single tooth.
I'm thinking they had either the lower jaw, intact for teeth or nearly so, or more likely had the upper jaw, hopefully teeth intact or nearly so. The ID using the teeth sounded certain.
COD who knoze?
Fingers crossed for an anthropologist's certainty.
