She was very free spirited. If he believed she left him and took off with some other guy ,I can see him returning without her.It happens. He waited as long as he could then gave up and figured she liked some other dude better.
It's. still their joint transportation, referred to consistently as "their van" or "our van."
And if he thinks she took off with another dude, he ought to have still notified someone of this. Not just leave her (and take all of her stuff and the van they shared 3000. miles. away).
If he wanted sole possession of all her stuff, he needed to get some declaration from her that she was agreeable.
I will be very curious to look at what the phone records say. And where her phone is and last pinged.
"Waiting as long as he could"? Really? What does that mean? It's wilderness territory. You're suggesting that she abandoned her entire life for this other dude, despite copious numbers of posts about their amazing trip together - right up until...SLC, anyway.
You really think it's okay to take joint property and convert it to one person's use, while denying someone the use of that property? I. don't think that's legal in Utah or Wyoming, thankfully.
If in fact, his story is that she ran off with another dude, hopefully. his attorney. will guide him through the process of bringing that information to LE, because no one is going to just let this go - he's done everything in such a manner as to increase suspicion, not dispel. it. He needs to produce a good-bye text or a "go ahead and go home in our van" text or something - no one is going to believe that he just left her in a campground somewhere (other dude or not) and took what she indicates are all her worldly belongings.
