I don't know how big one of those storage deals are...but it looks like you could fit a person in one. I understand that having one on the roof makes it easier to spot, but dumping it makes it findable. Why not take it off the roof and put it in the back section of the suv?

They don't fit that well in the back ...that one looks pretty big, and if he had a mattress and stuff for weeks of travel, he wouldn't have room. (Don't ask me how I know that they don't fit ... and also don't ask me how to get stuck in a parking garage with one on your own Toyota 4wd, and don't ask if I had to take it off to get out, and maybe that's not how I know they don't fit totally inside...)

But you could fit a person in one, especially a kid. They come in different sizes, of course (the boxes), but that one looked to be a decent size.

It's okay, it's a blogger's truck that another poster found his name associated with (as in they follow each other's blogs). They may even utilize similar equipment, so your question is valid, just didn't want you to think you were looking his actual truck.

I just typed "Jesse Speer wedding" into google and it looks like he was supposed to get married last October 1st...maybe it was called off or something and October was a trigger month for him ( the person in the title is the gf from the "living in your car" blog)... just wondering?

I think someone called in a tip about the suspect based on the released sketch and the vehicle description. The arrest happened pretty soon after it was released.

LE released a security camera image of his vehicle while it was traveling in Cody the day of the abduction. The image clearly showed the Thule roof carrier on the top of his vehicle. The day after that image was released by LE, the suspect dumped the Thule roof carrier, and LE subsequently recovered it as evidence.

I think it took LE less than 24 hours to trace the carrier straight to the suspect in Montana. IMO, the suspect made 2 critical mistakes when he saw that security camera image. He panicked and dumped the car carrier. His second mistake, just as fatal, in his panic he ran back home for safety. The star's aligned and LE found the car carrier and easily traced it straight back to him. The minute LE found the car carrier he was toast.

Do we know where he was arrested and caught?

A possible suspect in a child abduction and sexual assault case in Cody, Wyoming was arrested in Belgrade.

According to the Gallatin County Detention Center roster, Jesse Paul Speer is being held on a $2 million bond for law enforcement from the State of Wyoming. Gallatin County has not confirmed that Speer is the suspect, but he is the only person listed on the roster being held for Wyoming officials.

Earlier today, Wyoming Highway Patrol said the Cody Police Department announced the capture of the suspect. A press conference will be held Monday morning at Cody City Hall at 10 a.m.

They very well could have modified their trucks the same way. My brother lived out of his truck for a while, built a platform for a pad and sleeping bag and stored all his gear, some in plastic tubs, under the platform. Ski bums live this way in winter, climbers, kayakers ...

Can anyone guess why LE will not release HOW the girl from WY got away? I would think that would be valuable information for the public to know how someone was successful to get away from her abductor.

It says he's from Manhattan? Would that be the same fella everyone's been thinking (who's from the Wyoming/Montana area)? Cause I did find a man by the same name from NY...he has strawberry blond hair too. And THAT may not be him either, just wanted to point out the Manhattan thing... :waitasec:

Where was it found?

The carrier was found near where KG was found. I think he took it off before he let her go and left it behind. I believe even before they said they found the carrier, that it may no longer be on the vehicle. I think KG was able to tell them that.

I also noticed he posted his new pic on Oct 10 2012....

His pic from Oct 10th is of Grand Teton. I would suppose he drove through Teton National Park and then up through Yellowstone and went out the east entrance into Cody.
