Sometimes I wonder if Jessica could have been saved if there wasn't an 8 hour delay in her being reported missing. It just kills me.

You are correct, Cody is in Wyoming.

You asked if he was going to be taken to Montana and I answered no, he is already there (as he was arrested there and is being held in jail there) but needs to go to Wyoming to be prosecuted because that is where the crime occurred.

Sorry I misunderstood what you were asking!
Thank you!!! Not a problem:seeya:

what would you say to adults and children for next time. What have you learned.

Can't respond with this incident alone. Detailing other crimes.
innocence of town lost in the last year. Cody is not the same as it once was.

Flipside, in each situation, we have suspect in custody.

I hate it when they say things like "not the same as it once was" -- especially since the perp is from another state.

I'm old enough to remember all kinds of crimes in my own area - crimes that were never widely reported, because they were reported (if at all) in the local newspapers. YET, I hear people talking about how dangerous it is now. It's not. We just hear about everything, we talk about it.

What was reported locally-only prior to 1985, is now reported worldwide.

It's only been the past 20 years or so, that crimes against children and sex offenders have been noted and criminized to a higher extent.

Let's go after the real crimes, but please. We can't cower in fear.

Oh me I thought it was the opposite...I thought Cody was in Wyoming, duh!!

Cody is in Wyoming. Cody is where the crime was committed.

He drove from there to Bozeman/Manhattan(where he lives)/Belgrade area in Montana via Yellowstone Park, which is the most direct way when roads are open in the park.

They arrested him in Belgrade and took him to the Gallatin County Detention Facility (aka county jail), which is in Bozeman MT.

Now they have to go through extradition procedures, which is the fancy name for the paperwork and hoops that have to be gone to if you want to move an accused person from one state to face charges in another. Then he'll be back in Cody, Wyoming to face charges.

eta: here's a quick map of his route.https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=...oq=Belgrade&mra=dpe&mrsp=1&sz=8&via=1&t=m&z=8

I notice from Harmony's notes above (THANK YOU HARMONY :yourock:
that Chief/FBI are still not naming the supsect? What's up with that? Anyone have any ideas for not publicly naming him - I think that is odd?

I put together a map of the places. A=Cody, B=Belgrade where he was arrested, C=Manhattan, where he lives, D=Bozeman, where the jail is. There are other ways to get from Cody to Bozeman, but we know he went through Yellowstone Park because the press conference said they used video surveillance from the gate cameras to ID the van.

state's attorney doesn't want him naming him yet.

my guess: semantics and legal paperwork

A photographer! If tru, how convenient. 40+ years ago when my first girl was a toddler, abt 1 yr old, an elderly gentleman that lived in apt above us paid her a lot of attention when we were outside. He asked me if I would let him take her to his home to take pictures of her. I don't think I ever saw that man again. I was 18 at the time, glad I had the brains not to let him do that!

I just wanted to say, sorta OT, that I am glad to have you guys, mods included, to get thru this with.....your maturity here and that fairness is what first attracted me to this site, the sleuthing, well, pfffftttt, beyond compare, but the attention and the consideration are what keeps me here.
I hope someone caught the presser...I have a construction guy here, working, lol, and missed the links posted and the time. I am so happy in anticipation of this being the guy. delving in to see if there are more cases he is involved, which IMO he has had to.

When I was growing up in the sixties and early seventies, a Boy Scout I knew was stabbed in his tent at a camporee (turned out by a really random serial killer whose victims included an older woman and a small girl) and a couple of hitch-hikers murdered and ate a guy who gave them a ride. Not to mention several rather nasty spousal murders.

And this was in the Gallatin Valley, Montana, which was about as remote, pure, and pristine a place as you could find.

That is same photo on his FB, where he indicates he is a photographer!

Editing to add: that photographer's FB is no longer viewable! I think that says a lot!!

This seems totally viable to me. I have one problem with the theory that JS is responsible for Jessica's murder, though... where would he have dismembered her? (It disgusts me to even have to type and think that!) That's why I'm thinking Jessica's murder has to be tied to someone local to Westminster. Who else would have access to a bathtub or some other place to carry out such a disgusting act? I don't think JS did.

This is from his photo page in the about section:

"My photographic efforts frequently take place in the wild and rural places of the Rocky Mountains and western United States. I find inspiration in both the quiet rural road and the lonely wilderness trail. Yet, I am most captivated by an addictive mix of solitude and solace that comes from my interactions within nature. My portfolios feature favorite moments and meditations from these places."

I wonder if his court appearance will be on TV today

Well, let's all pray that Wyoming does not mess this up. There is an unsolved murder here in Newcastle, Wyo., of Katherine Coffee, which is a thread here at WS. Once Wyoming gets hold of a case, it goes eerily quiet. No nada info let out to the public. Sad really. I could be in a grocery store with Katherine's killer and never even know it.
