GUILTY WY - Jesse Speer for kidnap, rape of 10yo girl, Cody, 8 Oct 2012

First off. kudos to the people who must have spent innumerable hours reviewing the video evidence--it's clear that was so key to catching this guy!

I've seen a lot of comments about this guy's hair color and have to say that mine is similar--it gets darker (less red) during the winter months and when it needs to be washed. I'm thinking that his time living in a van gives him limited access to shower facilities, so it would make sense for his hair to appear brown in some pics.

Yes there are, just like there are serial killers that don't hurt their own family.

Gary Ridgeway springs to mind.

The psychology is that their victims aren't "real" to them. They are prey. They have as much regard for their prey as a tiger would.

Their own families are part of their own lives, of their own creation, often viewed as an extension of their own ego, therefore are not viewed as prey.

Probably went and cleaned up in Yellowstone in one of the camping spots maybe..I've never camped there over night but I know there are tons of restrooms all in their.

It was a bitterly cold night, only a few degrees above freezing. She was dressed only in leggings, tennis shoes and a thin jacket.

She hopped in the back with their two sons, both around her age, and Laske said that the relief on her face was palpable. They gave her the phone to call her mother and then phoned the police. None of them knew anything about the abduction or the Amber Alert that police had issued for her.

I have a family member through marriage not blood who has been arrested and charged with molesting his niece ( again through marriage not blood ), through his wife's family. Anyway he has a daughter the same age and he would always bath her in her bathing suit (before he was caught) for fear of temptation.

I hope that answers your question, not saying at all that that's the norm, just how it was for him.

Right, she was not found in the national park. Cody is about 60 miles east of the park's east entrance.

I just read that an FBI agent saw the vehicle while going through video footage from the NORTH entrance of the park. The FBI agent discovered the car in the footage on the 13th and that led to running his plate and ultimately arresting him that day. I have not yet read what day the footage was taken but I would suspect it was late on the night of the abduction. He no doubt few home as quickly as possible.

Forgive me if someone has stated this, but that footage from the north entrance was from 10/7, before he did the crime; ie, he was on his way TO Cody, not FROM Cody. I'm assuming this is also what cleared him of the CO murder.

Did anyone figure out why they wouldnt release the perps name during the presser? Does anyone think it could be because they suspect him in some other cases and dont want to give anyone/someone a heads up on that?

Chief was asked not to by the city and state prosecutor not to name him at the press conferencet.

That could be right. Is there hunting allowed inside YNP?

No according to this link

Hunting is prohibited within Yellowstone National Park boundaries but Big Game, Upland Birds, and various Waterfowl can be hunted in season on public and national forest area land near Park boundaries, and on private land (60 million acres in Montana alone) when owners grant permission.

Well, I will add years ago my then BF and I were driving through YNP on a peaceful rd with no one in sight. Suddenly we went around a bend and it was like a parking lot of stopped cars! We look over and there were a bunch of tourists running after a herd of Moose trying to get a picture. The next thing we see are the tourists are running back towards their cars as the Moose started chasing them lol. I will never forget it.
Sorry for the o/t but had to share.

I'm hoping he's responsible for Lindsay Baum, too.

It would be wonderful to know where she is.

:please:

It would be wonderful if they find her and others.

Now LE has to go through all those pictures of these children that were in back of his car. :furious:

So does this guy bring his stack of naked girl photos with him every time he goes on vacation? BARF.

I was wondering why authorities would confiscate his eyeglasses. This answers my question. They are one piece of evidence.

ETA: Here is the quote matou cited that I'm referring to:

Quote:
In another surveillance video, Speer's glasses had a blue line on the side of the frame, matching a description the girl gave to police, Beck wrote. The victim also told investigators she saw stacked photographs of naked young girls in the vehicle.

Speer will be kept at the Gallatin County Detention Center without bond until he can be transported back to Wyoming to face charges of kidnapping, aggravated assault and use of a firearm.

A hearing is set for Oct. 30 in Gallatin County for Speer if he has not been extradited to Wyoming by that day.

Thank you for this. Here's another picture of his hair showing its true hue. I'm on my cell so I can't capture the picture:

I'm still going through his site archives, looking for something, anything, that may appear abnormal. Haven't seen much yet, just his cousin's death.

I am having a hard time seeing him abduct and kill other girls but then letting this girl go. If she had escaped, then I would be back to that theory but he let her go.

Sadly, I think we just have a lot of sick people out there. Judging by the number of unsolved cases I've followed, it's apparently pretty easy to abduct a child and never get caught. :(

Okay, that's interesting. Wow.

Maybe I am wrong but I thought he escaped through the Cody entrance of the YNP I did not think he actually took the girl there. He would have had to go up through Gardiner entrance/exit to get home as the other one is open but you cant get past Cooke City as the Bear tooth pass is closed.

He did not take her to Yellowstone National Park.
