You may be right? I'm just skeptical when it is being reported by NG cuz she's not always on top of bombshells as much as we are.

  • #22
Sorry - it does say Breaking News - but you're right about Nancy Grace LOL.

BOMBSHELL ;)

(Sept. 15) -- A body found on a Wyoming ranch is not that of missing Utah woman Susan Cox Powell, a mother of two who disappeared last December. Officials say the dental records do not match.

Powell's family had been told Tuesday that the body of a woman that was discovered Sept. 9 matched her description

Linky: http://www.aolnews.com/crime/article/body-found-in-wyoming-not-missing-mom-susan-cox-powell/19634782

While I'm glad it's not Susan, I sure wish we could find out what happened to her.

Mel

ETA: how did they identify so quick, while other cases (sylar), we're still waiting and waiting and waiting.....

Thanks, thought they found her ... sorry for the misinformation, I just thought it was strange that it said it was URGENT Breaking News LOL. I guess Websleuths is way ahead of the game when it come to Nancy Grace LOL.

Yes, the Wyoming one, found by a sheepherder is NOT Susan.

There IS one body in Washington, Suncadia resort that has NOT been ruled out however. (According to the last we heard from the family. The family said they hadn't heard, at about the same time a reporter said they had been told it was not...I'm not sure what is true.)

There is ongoing discussion about that body here, this is a good thread to check for any breaking news on Susan Powell: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97345&page=23

The body on the "ranch" isn't on Nancy's page or facebook...but that doesn't mean anything. I wouldn't be surprised if they break into the middle of the show with "news we are just getting right now, as it's happening." If you ever watch Nancy, everything is breaking news. Her show starts every single night with "Breaking News!"

My personal policy on Nancy is to take what she says with a mountain of salt, assume it is several days old and come here or google it to check it out. We are ALWAYS ahead of the game when it comes to Nancy. Even when we do happen to hear about a missing person because of her, we still find far more information about them.

Last night (Tuesday) during her show she "broke into" her own show with "breaking news" about a toddler's body that had "just now been found" in a creek. The little girl was found SATURDAY evening. 72 hours later and this was "just now happening" on Nancy's show.

It of course was made to sound criminal when it had already essentially been ruled accidental...as the child was drawn to the water due to her autism. Google would have told them that.

This article was up about it along with a few others before Nancy's show... http://ozarksfirst.com/fulltext?nxd_id=326045

That's just my experience after a few years of comparing Nancy's information with the real world.

How about Brienne Berry?
http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/b/berry_brienne.html
berry_brienne.jpg

If the body's been there longer than believed, it very well could be.

Sheridan County MT is the extreme NE corner of Montana -- and it's almost a straight line, 632 miles south, to Laramie WY.

Brienne's description is interesting: a 20-year-old Porsche, Liz Claiborne sunglasses and a (99% probability fake) Gucci purse. In a big city, the fake purse stands out like a big red "hick" sign -- but in a small Montana county, could she have been mistaken for someone very wealthy? Interesting that the car hasn't been found.

In looking at the other cases, Brienne's "last seen" location is closer to Laramie, than any of the others.

Have they said anything about exactly where the body was found? "A remote area of a ranch" sounds like she could have been a hunter or hiker.

  • #28
just saw this thread. is anyone aware of a composite sketch of the deceased?

being near Route 80 she literally could have been from anywhere.

This appears to be her Namus link, the same county, the same date, the same height, found on a ranch in a remote area.
https://identifyus.org/cases/8960

Can anybody with GPS verify if the coordinates N41 21 34 W 105 24 54 correspond to the Warren Livestock Ranch, 14 miles northeast of Laramie?

I'm asking because there are some discrepancies in the info. Namus is far less specific about her demographics than the news articles which said she was 30-40. Namus gives her age as 20-100 which is hardly helpful. Alternatively, Adult- pre70. Estimated time of death is 2006-2010, est. postmortem interval three years, and not "sometime between last fall and this past spring" like the trib.com link says. Her hair is described as Red-auburn, not light brown.

She was mummified, and nude, but three articles of clothing were found nearby.

Next to body-XL Wrangler jacket
In the area of the body - Pink hanes panties size 12 (Youth) & Pink tank top size small.

Albany county Sheriffs Offfice and the Wyoming State crime lab have finger prints for comparison. Dentals are coming up and they're in the process of getting DNA.

Namus exclusion list:
Bekime Elshani 1985 Colorado
Angela Finger 1983 Nevada
Jessica Foster 1984 Nevada
Stacey Grater 1970 New Jersey
ANN KELLEY 1971 Nebraska
Brittany Peart 1987 Maryland
Carmela Yacavino 1961 New Jersey

None of the women mentioned in this thread are on the list, not even Susan Powell.

Youth panties and a Small top go together. XL jacket does not!

IMHO Perp is missing a denim jacket....

I'm not sure how Myrna Letandre would end up in Wyoming from Winnipeg, but I think this one should be called in based on resemblance alone.

And BTW, her height (63 inches) matches spot-on, and her weight (95 lbs) is within 5 lbs of the weight estimate (FWIW).

The 4-year timeframe is reasonable to the 3-year estimated postmortem interval.

Possibly some resemblance here, and the timing and body frame size are right. Ms. Bolick was last seen wearing a pastel-colored top, as well. However, given the circumstances of disappearance, it would have been some distance for Ms. Bolick (or, G. f., her remains) to travel from Montana to Wyoming.

Some more information on the UID from the time she was found. Initially it was thought that she might be the missing Susan Powell, but Ms. Powell was ruled out.

http://trib.com/news/updates/woman-...cle_2cd324c6-bf56-11df-bc3f-001cc4c03286.html

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/...y-in-Wyoming-not-Susan-Powell-police-say.html

The early articles variously describe her as being 30 to 40 or 30 to 55 years old, with short or chin-length light brown hair, and an estimated date of death of fall 2009 to spring 2010. The current NamUs profile lists her as 20 to 100 years old (probably pre-70), with red/auburn hair (the forensic sculpture has a brown wig), and a date of death as early as 2006.

This woman is taller than Jane Doe's height estimate, and her race doesn't match, but the timeframe is right, she is missing from Wyoming, and she has a very similar facial shape.

the thread says found July 2011 but it was actually Sept 2010.

I've never seen the age spread that Namus used for this UID - 20 to 100. do you think they might be able to narrow it down? I mean if she had naturally auburn hair you would think she would probably be under the age of 45.

looks like Christine Walters to me. Christine was last seen in Humboldt CA in fall 2008, about 5'2", 115-120 lbs with red/auburn hair.

her profile says DNA is available but not sure if that means she is a rule out by default or whatnot.
