This painting, by Nessie, made us very happy yesterday when we saw in on her preschool's wall. It's a self-portrait (Nessie is determined to have long hair but hers grows quite slowly!).

Court-appointed shrinks are still puzzling over the trial fitness of accused killer nanny Yoselyn Ortega, charged with the heinous bathtub slashing deaths of two young Upper West Side children under her care.

The court-appointed psychologists need more medical records before they can determine if Ortega is mentally fit for trial, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro said during a brief hearing today.

Ortega's next court date = March 8. (which ironically falls on the International Women's Day -- March 8).

The only hospital I am familiar with in NYC is Hospital for Special Surgery and that is a top-notch hospital. Elmhurst sounds like a hell hole. YAY.

NEW YORK -- Doctors say they need more time to examine a New York City nanny accused of fatally stabbing two children in her care.

Lawyers for Yoselyn Ortega appeared in a Manhattan courtroom on Friday, but the case was adjourned until March 8.

Killer nanny Yoselyn Ortega in Manhattan Criminal Court on Friday, March 8, 2013, during her first court appearance on charges that she killed the two children she was hired to care for: 6-year-old Lucia Krim and her 2-year-old brother Leo.

The nanny accused of viciously stabbing two children before trying to slit her own throat made her first court appearance Friday, standing mute and pale in front of a judge at a psychiatric hearing.

Yoselyn Ortega, 50, was handcuffed and dressed in tan prison garb when she shuffled into Manhattan Supreme Court.

The hearing was quickly adjourned until April 5 when the judge learned none of Ortega's psychiatric examinations had been completed - including one that's been requested by her defense team.

"Once again, the clinic has not interviewed the defendant, examined the defendant. What's taking so long?" Justice Gregory Carro asked her defense attorney.

Ortega's lawyer said the medical report she requested was still a work in progress.

"Six thousand pages have to be read. That might take a while," said Valerie Van Leer-Greenberg.

"They've had them for awhile," Carro shot back. "It's not like they got them yesterday."

Make her listen in English because she obviously spoke it. I know the court is doing this to make sure nothing can come back on them, but this witch can understand English very well&#8230;.if she wants to.

I am glad to hear the judge is getting impatient. I think that is how we all have felt these last months waiting on this witch to show up in court and get off her butt in a comfortable hospital. She obviously is able to get around quite well. No telling what kind of a show she is putting on for the psychiatrist.


Question: I have read in several publications that Leo was asleep when he was attacked. How do the police know this? Surely they are not taking the nanny's word for it?

Before the Casey Anthony trial happened, I would've had all the confidence in the world saying this woman will be found guilty. I no longer have any confidence in juries.

I hope if this goes to trial, the jury that is selected is a whole lot smarter and is interested in seeing justice for Lulu and Leo, instead of just wanting to go home.
