Wish I'd seen this sooner; I'd have gone to support them at the courthouse!

The video is well done, I think. Disturbing, but not sensational.
They need a lot of money.
Who will get this new evidence? Gore? The AG? Maybe a grand jury?

I can't answer your questions!

But, I did note in watching the press conference that they will hopefully get the evidence they seek and be able to narrow down a suspect(s) to file a civil suit.

On a minor note they said the the call to police at 5-6 the day of the murder was from Paul Pfingst and it was concerning Adam Shacknai.

Forgot that they also said they were suing the county, the Sheriff's office and the ME in this suit.

In the video, there are a few new pictures taken outside. You can see that her feet look fairly dirty. What surprised me though is that her fingernails and hands/wrists/forearms look dirty - I can't quite imagine this is paint. What does anyone else think. I thought she had just taken a shower?

The darkening on her body is not dirt, it is discoloration due to her death.

A. Has the lawsuit actually been filed yet? It is unclear to me from MSM.
B. Why did they wait so long? The SoL is so soon with the wrongful death claim and it sounds like they don't have funds to file it and no way this suit would wind its way through courts before deadline passes?
C. Bourne, terrible time to be on time out--- ;)

It almost sounds like they are filing/going to file a Right To Know lawsuit for further public records. I imagine that will most certainly negate the weird exception we discussed earlier in the legal questions thread. Even prior to civil suit, then, it should make the investigative file open to the public.

Very interesting and I hope the family keeps fighting for Becky.

From the same, but updated, CBS8 article I quoted above:

http://www.cbs8.com/story/22189885/...eriff-bill-gore-seeking-evidence-in-her-death

>>>snip

...The suit also seeks information related to the death of the 6-year-old son of Zahau's boyfriend, Jonah Shacknai. Max Shacknai died as a result of an accidental fall over a stairway railing at the mansion in Coronado two days before Zahau took her own life, authorities concluded.

"We think the two deaths are intrinsically related, in that, if nothing happened to Max, then nobody would have done anything to Rebecca," Rudoy said.

<<<snip

Interesting! I wonder if they'll be able to get the records re: Maxie's death. It sounds like they (the lawyers, anyway) are working a very specific theory, with the motive for her murder being the key to Rebecca's death.

Hell yes!

I realize a lot of it is discoloration, but it was said her feet were dirty before this. I really didn't think it was dirt on her legs or most of her feet, just on the bottoms.

Did you look at her hands in the video also? It's either paint or dirt.... some on her wrist, but definitely around the nail edges, like near the cuticles.

You may have to go to the video the family posted on the website to see all of the pics....around 2:10 is a good pic of her wrists/arms/hands/fingernails.

Just a WAG (wild ***ed guess), but I'm thinking they had to wait for the AG's denial before they could proceed.

Right, her feet were dirty. I think the lower extremities were discolored from the pooling of blood
(dependent position). I am a hospice nurse. Our patients who have died, who are prone ( on their backs) will often have bluish / dark purple coloring on their backs and other dependent areas even within an hour or so after death. Rigor sets in from 2-6 hours, closer to 2-3 generally. How this dear woman must have suffered at the hands of her killer, and the terror of it.

Does anyone know if Rebecca's family had an autopsy done, or if we have results somewhere?

Some time in October 2011, I signed a petition to reopen the case and donated to a fund that the family had set up. I got a personal thank you message from Mary and we corresponded a few times. She said this:

"I just wanted to let you know that we appreciate your donation and support. Please ask your friends and family to sign the petition to reopen the case and investigated by independent agency. We were supposed to get police reports and case files last week from SDSD but that's not the case. We are hoping this week. I don't know what they are hiding if what they did and found is true.

I don't think they realize Becky's family is not giving up. Please conti nue to pray that justice will come."

And this:

"Yes I do read news articles and blogs as much as possible. I enjoy reading them knowing so many see that Becky was indeed murdered.

We have extra set of footprints on the balcony found by our expert other than the supposed LE partial print. By the way Beckys feet were filthy dirty more than the dust from the balcony. So she ran at some point."

Very sad to see the photos? And why doesn't JS donate? That amount is pocket change for him...
The message on the door is written in a very unique handwriting.

Hi celticthyme - RZ autopsy can be found online and am sure it's in the documents file here on WS somewhere. The second autopsy performed by Dr Wecht, I don't think an official report was made public.

Comments on images from the new video at the indiegogo website..

Note the rope marks embedded in her arm above the bindings. Also the markings on her back. Lividity except where her wrists and rope were pressed against her back. Note the dirt around her cuticles. IMO that’s not paint, it’s dirt. Note the Bionic band ON TOP of the rope, not under the rope. Note the dark stains/dirt and cuts below her right thumb facing below the wrist binding.

On image of her ankles, note on her left leg above the binding, there is a definite fairly large indentation from something. It's not from the rope. This image appears to have been taken in the position LE found her as can see the red tiles of pathway in the background. Bottoms of feet filthy. On her right leg, indentation from the rope above the binding. How would that happen unless the binding was moved...

Pathetic investigation. Pathetic ME report/conclusion.

I have screenshots of the images but they are so disturbing don't want to post them. BTW IIRC Anne Bremner is no longer involved in the case.

I agree. JS has been deafeningly silent since right after the determination of suicide as COD was announced. A couple of PR statements and that was it. He was nowhere when Dina was making all of that noise about getting Max's case re-opened. He also was silent when it was announced in 2011 that Spreckels was sold to a group of unidentified investors, but in March 2012, he still owned it. Entrance by Zahau Attorney Rudoy to investigate was denied using a very dodgy explanation. After that, major work was done on the interior.

What was he hiding?

I think you are right. She left the law firm that she had been with, but Rudoy was working on the case with her then. Nice to see that Rudoy is still on it.
