Zahau Death Investigation

Right, her feet were dirty. I think the lower extremities were discolored from the pooling of blood
(dependent position). I am a hospice nurse. Our patients who have died, who are prone ( on their backs) will often have bluish / dark purple coloring on their backs and other dependent areas even within an hour or so after death. Rigor sets in from 2-6 hours, closer to 2-3 generally. How this dear woman must have suffered at the hands of her killer, and the terror of it.

I know we can't see much but what do you think about the placement/position of the discoloration, blood pooling.

I agree. JS has been deafeningly silent since right after the determination of suicide as COD was announced. A couple of PR statements and that was it. He was nowhere when Dina was making all of that noise about getting Max's case re-opened. He also was silent when it was announced in 2011 that Spreckels was sold to a group of unidentified investors, but in March 2012, he still owned it. Entrance by Zahau Attorney Rudoy to investigate was denied using a very dodgy explanation. After that, major work was done on the interior.

What was he hiding?

IMO, the printing on the door looks eerily like that of Maxie's House logo.......

I think the discoloration is from the pooling ( gravity) of the blood going to the lower extremities, while she was hanging. Not sure the exact cause of death, I can only speculate, but since her neck was not broken, it was not from the hanging. Also not sure of when the death actually occurred. According to the positioning of her body on the ground, after having been cut down, her lividity had definitely been broken.

I have posted seven images / screenshots in the Sticky: Images Only thread taken from the Justice4Rebecca video that appears on the Indiegogo website.

Caution: the images are very graphic. I believe the Zahau family has made these images available to the public as they raise even MORE questions regarding the investigation. Mods, if you feel they do not belong here on WS, please remove.

Not that I needed convincing, but now that I've seen the photos of the actual bindings, I more firmly than ever believe there's NO WAY RZ put them on herself.

Even if I bought--which I don't--the theory that she tied herself up before hanging herself so she couldn't save herself, those bindings are (no pun intended) OVERKILL. Multiple loops around each joint? No way. NO. WAY.

And why are her feet so dirty if she just took a shower and went nowhere except through the house and out the balcony?

Does not compute.

I hope someday Rebecca gets the justice she deserves.

As ever, I have questions...

In the picture of her back you can see the redness there, which I assume is the pooling of the blood (lividity?), am I correct about that? If not, what is it? Why, if she was laying on her side, as the picture shows is the pooling around where her arms would have been around her back? Also, is that a bruise above where the redness starts, maybe a scrape?

So next, on her legs, the much darker discoloration is also lividity, is from hanging? The marks along the back of her calves and the tops of her feet, around the ankles? There is much more dirt along the bottom of her feet than would be had she hopped around that light carpeted room and put one toe print on the balcony. Also, there is at least one, maybe two fresh cuts on her leg.

The photo of her hands, you can see a tiny fleck of paint on one fingernail, also paint along the outside of her thumb as if her hand dragged against it. Why does she have dirt along her cuticles, how would she manage to get it only on her cuticles and only a fleck on one fingernail?

It appears there is a bruise on her hip as well. Also why does it seem like the one band on her wrist is within the bindings but on the the other wrist, there are two that seem above it.

Ok guys, I know I'm going to have more questions here but I have been absolutely traumatized by crime scene photos lately and I just can't look at them any longer. Thank you to Caricoa for getting the screen shots and putting them in the stickies. I'm just so sick of brutal crimes right now.

I can't imagine how anyone, much less professionals could look at these few photos of the scene and not see that she didn't do this to herself. Her hair under the bindings and the shirt, that right there screams that she didn't. I wonder if the Zahau's have the picture of the CLOSED balcony door as well. LE let her be uncovered in the sun for 13 hours to muddy the waters. :stormingmad:

It's way past time for Justice for Rebecca.

It's so hard to know after all this time and with so little information, but to me, it looks like there was a struggle, ( was she hit with something on the back of her legs causing the bruising ?, as well as her head?
(blunt force trauma per Cyril Wecht) She was almost obsessive about exercise and her diet, so I think she was in good shape, but she was tiny. I'd be surprised if she weighed much more than 100#. The dirt makes me wonder if she tried to run and got caught outside, pulled to the ground. To me this looks like a "rage" killing, likely by a female, and very personal ( the mouth gag, naked and hanging outdoors.) A man would not go through all this staging. But from what little we do know, she did not die from the hanging itself, or her neck would have been broken, which it was not. ( I follow way too many crimes on WS)

Those knots look like something on a lobster cage. Someone tied those knots a million times that way, like crabbing or something. Someone who is a fisherman; someone who knows boats. Deep Sea Fisherman. Did his brother have a history in this industry? Does any one know?

Her nail polish is chipped and her feet; it looks to me like she had been through something horrific and not a suicide. This case needs to be reopened.

I still think that the reports early on of a female walking away from the home; were correct.

Her boyfriends brother was a tug boat captain I believe.

Carioca...thank you so much for taking the time to do this! And, to others for commenting on the photos.

I perplexed also by photos 2 & 3 where it seems obvious there are deep rope marks on her hands and ankles. I can't see that this was just from the rope slipping around. Anyone else notice these and think it's odd? What would explain these?

I still find it odd that the paint or dirt on her fingers is only around the cuticles.

Thanks, Carioca, for posting these. I have the same questions everyone else has mentioned. It also appears the rope bindings on her ankles are very tight. You can see they had cut off circulation to her feet, as there is no lividity in them.

I don't see how she could have "hopped" across the bedroom, through the door and jumped over the balcony with them bound so tightly. She would have fallen the first time she tried to hop, especially with her hands bound behind her back.

Her hands look as if they were dipped in black paint, then wiped clean, with a few dabs of paint added afterwards. Not only can you see it around all of her visible cuticles, but you can see it embedded in the creases of her palm.

Those are the first things I noticed.

That is exactly what I thought---those are boat knots/sailing knots etc. And AS is/was a tugboat captain. Yeah, AS, the guy who was alone with her at the mansion and found her the next morning and cut her down.

I think this link was posted before but it has the entire 48 page PDF of what the Zahau family is suing for. I can't figure out how to copy and save it, but it is right under the title. An interesting read...

Thanks! Here's a link to a news article yesterday about their suit.

On edit: Is anyone saving a copy of the Zahau family doc?
