IIRC, SA was upfront about TH's visit from the start. I remember watching an interview of him speaking to a news station. He was so calm I thought he had to either be telling the truth or a very gifted actor. He publicly confirmed her visit very shortly after she was reported missing. JMO, MOO, etc.

Another poster up thread suggested Avery used a tissue to cover his hands to prevent fingerprints so I figured the tissue probably prevented the blood from mixing as well.

I still firmly believe SA was under surveillance the whole time. I am beginning to believe LE knew who did it.

(I know how far fetched it sounds that the celestial officials of Manitowoc would frame Steve and just let the guilty party walk the streets..right? Oh. wait, they already did that with Greg Allen!).

It would certainly explain how RH was allowed to play such a pivotal role, and was in constant contact with LE. yet he was never so much as asked to provide his whereabouts on that day, or any day...Also would explain how TH's Brother knew she was deceased before she was found,
(Generally most folks want to confirm a loved one is, in fact dead, before they start looking to move on to the grieving proccess).

as well as, the very strange behavior of both RH MH. Just something I've though about...

ok thanks. I guess it would depend how heavily he was bleeding and how thick the tissue was. Seems awkward to me. Also doesn't tissue leave fibers?

That misstates what I said up above. (and I'm the 'another poster' being referenced).

The question was posed, if SA wasn't wearing gloves then how could he have possibly not gotten his own fingerprints in the SUV.

I said there were other ways of not leaving fingerprints besides wearing gloves and this would also allow the leaving of blood. I specifically used the example of holding onto something like a rag (or a Tshirt is one I've used as an example before) or something that did not cover the top of the hands or the side of a finger that might be bleeding, but would still serve to allow the person to touch something without leaving fingerprints. I did not talk about a "tissue," although a tissue was what Nicole Strum used to touch the outside door handle to determine the door was locked when she and her mother were calling in the location of the found SUV.

BTW, I didn't say that's what happened, I answered the question with an example of how something like that could be achieved.

I think the blood did mix but SA got Brendan to help him separate it.

it might, and it also might leave distinct smear marks, no? After re-reading the size of a normal blood drop compared to what was found in the RAV4, it's hard to believe that if his hand was wrapped that the blood drops are actually larger than normal, logic tells me that the rag would at least absorb some of the blood so the drops should have been smaller than normal. *shrug*

My thought on that is he did not wear gloves but he did hold onto something (like a rag for instance) to keep his fingerprints from being left, but that rag did not cover the top/side of his hand and with the cut on the side of his finger, if he bled it was possible for blood to drip/smear without him leaving fingerprints. Gloves are not the only way to avoid leaving one's fingerprints.

I still think, it is more likely, the blood was came from the old evidence vial. but I like a respectfully expressed opinion even if it's contrary to my own. And this was one. imo

It seems like to me the first and most important test she would run would be the blood smears found in Teresa's vehicle linking SA to the murder. If the blood smear has an additive then it means it had to come from the vial of blood that was SAs. Since they know what they are looking for I don't think that test would take long to complete at all. I cant remember which law enforcement agency ran the first test looking for the additive and found none. Was it one of the other police agencies involved or did the FBI lab do the initial testing?

I agree with Madeline though about the ways his blood could get inside the vehicle. His finger could have been dripping blood and then when moving around in the vehicle he could have smeared it where it had dripped. Or he could have dripped the blood on his own clothing not realizing it during the time he was in the vehicle and the wet blood on his clothes smeared it when it came into contact where it was found. He also could have been wearing cotton gloves and those can have holes in them, even tiny ones, from wear and tear, yet many men will still use them.

In some of the other cases where there was blood transference smears found at the crime scene fingerprints weren't always found since the smearing of the blood itself distorts and obliterates the fingerprint if the fingerprint was ever there to begin with and not by some other method.

As has been pointed out up thread, more than once. Zellner is not looking for EDTA. She is testing the AGE of the blood.(using carbon-dating, since EDTA can degrade) .
