4 Univ of Idaho Students Murdered, Bryan Kohberger Arrested, Moscow, Nov 2022 #93

I love cellphones.

For every criminal who thinks he's clever, there's cellphone data showing they aren't so cleve

Airplane mode but GPS tracking.

Phone left at home but glaring blackout period.

Patterns of activity that expose the anomalies.

And here we are. True to form, BK's blackout period corresponds directly with the time frame of the crime.

I don't much care that he has a partial alibi for before and after that window!

His defense is off in the ether. Up, up and away.

 JMO
Cellphone and Walmart surveillance video has convicted half of all criminals LOL. Criminals just aren't as smart as they think they are.

IMO

Yes!

The false information was the survey asking if the person had heard that Kohberger stalked the victims.

This makes it sound like Kohberger stalked the victims and this is false information.

I believe Kohberger was aware of the victims and did some surveillance of them, but he was too clever to leave a digital footprint of having any connection to the victims.

Kohberger specialized in digital data helping to solve crimes.He was smart in covering up his digital footprint and cleaning up blood evidence. To be expected.

I keep thinking about SG's statement that BK was close enough to their house that his phone "found" their network. I don't recall if he said his phone actually tried to join their network, but I do remember the robust and educational discussion about wi-fi and how far away you can be and still have your device shake hands with a network. Unless SG is completely mistaken about that, it sounds like they do have some sort of digital evidence of his presence nearby the house at times. I think about that now every time my phone finds a random network while I'm out and about.

I'm shocked his attorney would present such garbage with a straight face.

If his attorney believes this she is a fool.
I would love to know if BK came up with this alibi after all these months or did AT's team scrounge through all the data and find these random pictures he took in "November 2022" and grab at them like drowning people would grab a life preserver. They certainly know that pictures taken "in November 2022" are not an alibi. Only pictures taken between 3 and 5 that morning would provide an alibi, assuming the meta data would show they were taken in that partk and not in the back yard of King Road.

The

When it comes down to it, the DNA will be the main thing the jury concentrates on to put him in the house on that night.

<snipped>
I agree. That sheath and DNA definitely puts him in the house that night. No way are they going to find anyone to testify that he was ever there for a party, since he wasn't. And, even if he is bold enough to get up there and testify that he went to a party there once and left a knife sheath behind, how would this knife sheath he left weeks/months earlier wind up in the bed and under the body of a murder victim who happens to have been stabbed? A young lady of that age is not going to leave an unknown person's knife sheath in her bed - or even her room - for months. They might keep it around for a few weeks in case someone came back for it, but that's it.

I vote "yes" on the life preserver theory.

But this is like grabbing onto a life preserver if you were on the Titanic. You still need flares, other vessels nearby, a decent chance of not succumbing to hypothermia. Etc.

Can someone explain to me why there isn't more DNA evidence? How is it possible to violently attack and kill 4 people with a knife and move around the house and not leave evidence of DNA. Wouldn't he have possibly left spit from the exertion? AFAIK his mouth wasn't covered like the rest of his body.

As for the phone, IMO there will be lots of evidence. The defense knows this and is trying to disprove the reason he was there. If the phone was off you must let BK off!

But this ain't OJ nor is it a celebrity trial. Ahem!

I'm still puzzling about more DNA.

He was wearing a mask. One of the surviving roommates described it. It's in the arrest affidavit.

Hey y'all dedicated Sleuths! Been traveling and missed this info, so wanted to post for anyone who also missed it.

@cathyrusson

ALIBI: #BryanKohberger's team filed more info about his alibi the night of the #Idaho4 murders. “Mr. Kohberger was out driving in the early morning hours of November 13, 2022; as he often did to hike and run and/or see the moon and stars. He drove throughout the area south ofPullman, Washington, west of Moscow, Idaho including Wawawai Park.” They plan to call a cell tower expert.

@BrianEntin

Bryan Kohberger's legal team filed his alibi a short time ago.They claim he likes to go out for hikes and late night drives -- and that he was driving in the area of Pullman, Washington and west of Moscow, Idaho -- but not near the victims house.

Below is the public records response that details these costs, and that Pennsylvania has no record of a bill sent to #Idaho for the police escorted state flight from Scranton to Pullman for #BryanKohberger on Jan. 4, 2023. #Moscow didn't either. Mystery solved.

@kfixler

Update: Through another records response, I can now confirm the Pennsylvania flight for #BryanKohberger to Pullman, WA, cost $14,100 (as @KTVB reported), plus ~$8,209 for staff escort. The @PAStatePolice did not bill #Idaho for total of $22,309.

BREAKING: Defense for #BryanKohberger met Weds deadline to file his alibi in #Idaho4 murder case. They plan to provide "partial corroboration" of his defense in the early morning hours of the victims' deaths on Nov. 13, the filing said. Initial story here.

Defense in #Idaho4 case said in new alibi filing that #BryanKohberger was avid hiker, runner, moon- and stargazer. They doubled-down that he was out driving alone, and said cellphone data will prove his whereabouts during the homicides. Final story here.

Police and prosecutors have never acknowledged @OthramTech by name for involvement in #Idaho4 investigation of suspect #BryanKohberger. Within my story is the invoice the DNA company sent #Idaho State Police for $5K for rushed
#IGG work in November 2022.

@MorganRomeroTV

If Kohberger does not provide a more concrete alibi by tomorrow, the defense will not be able to use the alleged alibi as a defense during the trial.

BREAKING: Kohberger claims he was out for one of his regular nighttime drives at the time of the murders, and says his cell phone data will corroborate his alibi.

I agree.. but then BK is going to say, "When I drive at night, I did drive by that house on that "main" road and sure it would pick up my cell phone..."

I am actually surprised this statement has not come out as his alibi... "Yes, I happened to drive by that house that early morning... but I did not stop or go into the house. That would be ridiculous"

Never doubt how contorted his alibi can morph to based on facts being established one by one in time

The alibi is beyond ridiculous but when you're a lawyer and your client says they're innocent and wants to go to trial you have to do your best to defend them, and if stargazing is the only defense your client can come up with well I guess you were stargazing. I'm sure they probably know he's guilty

Unfortunately she has to, it's her job to defend BK. I actually admired AT and her handling of this case until the last hearing and a coupe of Motions she filed recently. Even though I believe BK to be guilty, he is entitled to a competent and vigorous defense as are all Defendants.

AT went from extreme professionalism to flustered and accusatory against the State recently. It wasn't her finest moments. I wonder if the pressure of a DP case and having to deal with BK is causing her great angst? I'd really love to know what their interactions are like. :eek:

MOO

I could not agree with this more. Uber-professional to throw spaghetti-at-the-wall and see what sticks, adamantly saying they believe in his innocence. Odd. He's probably disturbing to deal with she wants to profess it and win but he has given her so little to work with she thought there, take the alibi. Maybe she's preserving her mental health.

A significant number of people are buying it, the Moon & Stars defense, everyone here seems to have not lost their minds. JMOO

Thanks @arielilane. Good to see this one

04/18/2024 Order Unsealing States Motion for Order Probibiting Contact

usealed (with redactions to protext integrity of certain evidence state plans to use at trial),

The motion helps clarify and contextualise BT's statements in the two recent hearings of April 4th and 10th Moo. Seems important that this was unsealed ASAP to become part of the public (offficial) record. imo.

Does anyone else wonder if Ann fears him?
If she loses this trial he will blame her. If he is acquitted she may end up looking over her shoulder the rest of her life.

I'm glad you mentioned that...I wonder what their interactions are like also...

If she feels uncomfortable or threatened can she quit?
Imagine being uncomfortable or afraid of your client.
I could not do her job, she's much braver than I am.
IMHO since is the only woman paying attention to him face-to-face daily he is now obsessed with her.

maybe they are going to say that the phone disconnected going from WA to ID but that will not be very believable if that did not happen on his other 11 trips near the residence IMO, or if most residents do not have that happen IMO.
Yeah imo D is going to do it tough in such a scenario unless they can show that AT&T subscribers and/or BK regularly lost coverage in the middle of Pullman. I've just got a hunch D is planning to use their ping man Sy Ray in some other way, It's not going' to amount to much imo especially if BK turned his phone off for those two hours. My understanding is LE phone forensics will reveal if that's the case.' Possible D's gonna use Mr Ray to question the phone forensics and propose phone wasn't turned off (I contend forensics show it was switched off). Can''t see that working for the D but who knows.
