GUILTY TX - Belinda Temple, 30, pregnant, Katy, 11 Jan 1999 *Guilty again in 2023*

He's represented Tom DeLay, David Koresh, and Robert Durst, so he's probably been in the news a lot.

ETA He was in Waco representing David Koresh during his standoff with the FBI and the ATF. He pushed Barbara Piotrowski’s wheel chair into the courtroom after she was allegedly shot by exercise mogul Richard Minns. He sat by Lilla Paulus in Houston when she was tried for her involvement in the murder of John Hill. He stood with U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson while she was fighting for her political life against DA Ronnie Earle in Austin. He represented Ramsey Muniz, La Raza Unida’s candidate for Governor, as he fought a losing battle over drugs and he took up for Juana Leija, the mother who tried to drown all six of her children and herself, when the DA wanted the death penalty. http://www.roundtop.com/DeGuerin.htm

His brother Mike DeGuerin, is also a well known defense attorney in his own right.

She's a real winner. I guess that she was on a fishing expedition (sending flirtatious, sexual emails to married men) and caught that big, fat, ugly murderer.

What a shame for his wife and unborn child.

I hope to heck that he is convicted of murder and any monies that he received from her life insurance policy is stripped from him and his floozy wife.

Does this post leave any room for doubt how I feel??

Nan, get ready to feel ... even more! I read somewhere that he used the majority of the insurance money for his legal fees. So the second mrs. won't get anything other than what they have now fiinancially.

That's really not right. Someone should have frozen that money. He should not have access to it to use for his legal fees.

Here's another WS thread on this case.

The prosecution has rested. Now the defense will start. I have no doubts that this man killed his wife. I just hope the jury sees that.

Echoing their opening statements as they rested their case, prosecutors said Monday that the truth is in the details and jurors would be able to see from the inconsistencies that former football coach David Mark Temple is a liar who killed his pregnant wife.

Closing arguments in the case against David Mark Temple came full circle this afternoon when attorneys on both sides looked back five weeks to their opening statements as they tried swaying jurors now deciding the fate of the former football coach accused of killing his wife in 1999.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys addressed all the facets of what both sides agreed is a case made up largely of circumstantial evidence.

Finally, justice for Belinda and her unborn child. Unfortunately, her family has not seen Evan, her little boy, since he was three. He must be 12 or 13 years old now. It reminds me of the Jason and Michelle Young case. I just hope justice is eventually served for Michelle.

...David Temple was sentenced to life behind bars and fined $10,000 for murdering his pregnant wife, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Jurors reached their verdict in the punishment phase of the trial on Monday at 3 p.m. after 90 minutes of deliberations.

David Temple used a shotgun to kill his wife, Belinda, in the bedroom closet of their Katy home on Jan. 11, 1999. Belinda Temple, 30, was 8 months pregnant with a baby girl who she planned to name Erin...

Rest in Peace Belinda and Erin.

David Temple's attorneys claim mountain of evidence will prove his innocence

Temple's attorney spoke out about the findings at a press conference on Monday.

"If she's [Belinda Temple] in that parking lot between 3:20 and 3:30 and her cellphone records say she's there at 3:30 too, then it's virtually impossible for David Temple to have committed this crime," Defense attorney Casie Gotro said. "So not only is this evidence beneficial to the defense, but it completely undermines the state's entire theory of prosecution."

Clappart's Warrant: Judge for Yourself
Thursday, August 6, 2015

Snipped:

While much has been said, about Steve Clappart's warrant for the arrest of Cody Ray Ellis as an alternate suspect in the murder of Belinda Temple, it appears that David Temple's defense team has been reluctant to publish the warrant itself. Additionally, many of the local media outlets, specifically the Houston Chronicle have decided not to delve into the details of it.

Let's take it page by page.
