I did see where there were possession charges in NC under one of his aliases listed a couple pages back, although it seems a stretch that he would have sufficient credentials to get charged and convicted under an alias, but who knows?

Well, they certainly seemed to have removed a lot of evidence from the house which, considering it was searched using dogs, would seem to indicate a viable reason for taking it.

They have dogs, so they may have detected something there as opposed to the woods...

The Google maps street view pic taken in 2007 shows the windows in that condition then, so probably not a factor. (First post, very impressed with this forum and thread).
