It's horrible - kidnapping an elderly person, and crimes against the elderly in general. Poor woman must have been so frightened. I'm so glad this had a happy ending.
Oh y'all.... ;) Come on now. I just, honest to God, don't think LE did that. I was a public servant once. Not with LE, I was with the state, but I worked with LE on cases. I'm telling you, I never saw the organization to come up with and impliment something like that on the fly - especially...
muderer in their spare time... that cracked me up.
One of my initial theories on this case was that somehow either one or more of the sibs, or perhaps SP in a fit of anger, lethally injured Somer and that mom helped dispose of the body in a trash receptacle somewhere and then flagged down...
Plus all of the potential suspects. It would be nice to know what, if any, backlog there is in processing the dna of RSO's in general and getting the profile attached to them. I'd bet anything there is a backlog.
This case is prob a nightmare in terms of dna. Let's say that they come up...
huh. I don't know. you could be right and they officially confirmed prior to the autopsy. I had thought it was after, but I don't honestly recall. I think my point, if I had one, is that I think they would have called the parents pretty soon after finding the remains, and that enough info...
Oh for sure. I mean, I think all of us were hoping against hope that by some miracle it wouldn't be her, but at the same time... I think the Sherriff had probably already given them (the parents) enough preliminary info about the remains, how she was dressed, etc, that at least DT, if not both...
That said, since LE was following trucks, I can see easily what MommaD said, that they could have requested no compaction.
I think they told us exactly how many trucks there were at one point earlier in the case didn't they?
The thing is, other bodies and body parts have been found in dumps, presumably having also gone through compaction. But they are still recognizable as human remains.
I... just have difficulty thinking that LE is hiding the actual dump site of the body, and that they sent officers out to the garbage dump in some type of charade for the cameras. I mean, to what end? LE does withhold info from the public, but I can't see them announcing they found the body at...
I know. It's truly one of those things where you have to be aware and vigilant with your family and children because there is a lot of bad out there. Certainly, there's a lot of good too... But we really have to acknowledge just how at risk our children - and we ourselves - are so that we can...
In reference to dna, the Adam Walsh bill does state that SO's have to turn in dna upon registration.
Ok. Now that bill is a 2006 bill. Think about how many RSO's there are in Florida. I am willing to bet that there is a backlog on actually RUNNING the dna of many, if not most, of the RSO's...
I'm saying this from memory, so don't quote me, but I was thinking that number of Registered SO's is estimated to be about 5-10% of the "actual" number of people who offend sexually.
Alabama state law does require registration upon release from incarceration, or on conviction if the perp isn't incarcerated. So maybe those guys haven't been convicted yet but haven't made a court date in their case or something. I don't know. I just find it scary that there is this whole...
Thanks noway for the info you posted. I'm going to look specifically at Alabama's registry rules. It really freaks me out to see all those guys though in SOME part of the judicial process for sex crimes - and they aren't registered. There is a most wanted warrant out for this guy, HE isn't...
That's what I wanted to know. And some of them have warrants out for not registering. I know they have to notify the court, but aren't they at least initially automatically registered (upon conviction) so that they'll be on the site whether they are compliant or not?
ok y'all, I have a question. Are the statutes that require sex offenders to register state, federal, or both. Is there any date past which SO's are grandfathered and not made to register (like if their last crime was prior to a particular date)?
Also, at what point in the process do they...
