This is the first time we're hearing this.
It's not really substantiated in the report. Lopez clearly asked about the rifle - if a rifle was used in the TB killing - and LE won't say.
Lopez could be editorializing incorrectly about 'long range'. To my knowledge, he hasn't reported on this...
Not sure what to make of this latest from the Local. Might have some truth to it, might make good inspirational material for an interpretive dance. Who knows.
Malibu Canyon Shootings: Smoke, Mirrors, SWAT... and Sacrificial Lamb
Yes, we've mentioned on here before about the TB omission due to park jurisdiction. However, it has been included in the statistics on the LASD Lost Hills report on the LASD website.
The Acorn's most recent sheriff's blotter doesn't cite the break-ins. I'm not saying these burglaries didn't...
I looked on crime mapping and there are a couple of home burglaries in Monte Nido - this is about 2.5-3 miles from the park entrance - both were in the daytime and without forced entry. One was on 25 June; the other was 17 August.
There are an additional three home burglaries up toward the 101...
Detectives investigating possible lead in mysterious killing of father at Malibu Creek State Park (KCAL9)
But detectives do know that Beaudette was shot from long range. Was the murder weapon a rifle? They're not saying.
Veteran reporter Dave Lopez does a good report here and there are visuals...
This is pure clickbait. No original reporting at all - a content farm article - and a regurgitation of the story in the most sensational way.
The headline is not borne out by any evidence. A man with a rifle breaks into an office on a Sunday to steal food. Patch.com decides to call this an...
There's also no other activity on his phone that would indicate that people would know where to find him or were contacting him to find out his whereabouts.
I suppose they could have seen the snapchat posting but the Dateline article (which was very good and a welcome alternative to the...
<modsnipped against TOS>
I'm not sure why a burglar who's looking to steal food from an office would need to have a rifle. That strikes me as really conspicuous and drawing attention to yourself when stealth would be more effective.
It isn't unusual to have people living in the wild areas of...
Is there finally some movement on this case?
Armed Burglar Sought for Questioning in Malibu Park Slaying (NBC/LA)
[LASD] were searching for a masked burglar who broke into an office nearby early Sunday morning and stole food, the Sheriff’s Department said.
"A video system at the location...
@joeconejo, has it been established why the gate was open that day?
I'm asking because whoever would have been working up there that day (gas/utilities/FD etc) might have seen something.
From the scent dog info, it sounds like someone might have picked MW up and driven him to a different...
joeconejo, has it been confirmed that Matthew's car was not seen leaving the area at all during that day or evening?
I'm assuming if the vehicle was on Mulholland or Topanga Canyon or Old Topanga for any stretch of distance, it would have been picked up by a camera somewhere enroute.
@joeconejo, thank you for your post. As you can see, there are numerous total strangers posting on these threads who very much want to see Matthew return to his loved ones.
You might consider becoming a verified insider if you'll be taking questions from Websleuthers. That process is explained...
If foul play is suspected, then there are other persons involved. That would definitely change the search parameters.
I would think cell phone/data records would show who he'd been in contact with that morning - this would be a better place to start than to continue tromping around the...
The Local's reporting of the canine findings is - as is all too often with the publication - garbled and incoherent. This is what it says:
So the dogs lost the scent... somewhere.
The cadaver dog would be looking for human remains but the other dogs could be either tracking (ground) or...
Possibly. But there where did those people go? Why was the car abandoned? Why wasn't anyone found? Why didn't anyone come back to retrieve the car? Why didn't any one of the group try to make an emergency call on their phone?
No one reported hearing gunshots.
The Local has the gun report up again. And the screen shots of texts between MW and his gf are back up.
Disturbing detail emerge in the disappearance of Matthew Weaver, Jr
Female and male voice were screaming for help and saying that “somebody has a gun.”
Which begs the question as to how...
So if there was a male voice and a female voice, is LE concerned that there might be TWO missing persons?
The previous reports described the voices as 'cries for help'. Is that still the case?
And then the Local - after speaking with family, they said - posted something about witnesses hearing...
A question for you: in your version of events, at what time was the vehicle parked there?
If the car incident coincides with the last text, the vehicle is there at mid-day, with people passing by intermittently - but not reporting the car - for the remainder of the day until it was 'discovered'...
But they had the dogs out within hours of MW's disappearance and for several subsequent searches. They've said cadaver dogs were out. The other dogs would do things like air scent or trailing - and it would seem within a relatively short time frame.
The redundancy of the searches should cover...
But then he couldn't have fallen very far. It's a hillside, not a cliff face, and the vegetation is so thick, you'd get caught up in it before you went too far.
Like Christineisfab said, this doesn't really fit his early-morning time frame at all. People would have been up and down through the...
