Federal Indictment: James Burke, Former Suffolk Co PD Chief, December 2015

Did Kessler get this tip from an unnamed source from the 5th floor USAO office where he literally had a desk set up for him? It's amazing really, making a career out of taking points that the USAO hands for "news stories". His bias towards defendants and defense attorneys has been pretty...

    Possible Victim: Shannan Gilbert

You are correct that it will be on a case by case basis. The party must have a subpoena "so ordered" by the judge. An application must also be made to seal documents. If you have the case number for the Hackett case I can check to see if there are any entries of sealed material.

    Possible Victim: Shannan Gilbert

Actually NY law is pretty clear in releasing 911 calls for civil litigation. Please review the attached decision. The statute is not intended to prohibit the disclosure of matter that is material and relevant in a civil litigation The courts have continuous ruled that discovery be liberally...

The Rumor Mill -- unsubstantiated, yet possible relevant information

Quite simply, he could have lied throughout the deposition. He would not be the first individual who committed perjury. Why he would lie I do not know. But Mr. Hackett's truthfulness has been inconsistent to say the least.

Federal Indictment: James Burke, Former Suffolk Co PD Chief, December 2015

Meant he enjoyed being retired from SCPD. Creighton did not want to get with the program :)

Federal Indictment: James Burke, Former Suffolk Co PD Chief, December 2015

Hawk, hows was Dormer lured back as Police Commissioner? He was my criminal justice teacher at Suffolk in 2001, (I enjoyed his class). But I distinctly remember him staying he enjoyed retirement. I believe he was also head of security for the sports complex that was across from the smith haven...

Federal Indictment: James Burke, Former Suffolk Co PD Chief, December 2015

Call me cynical, but I don't see this going as far is it needs to go. Sure we will see the EDNY rack up some convictions, and some press releases will be issued stating no one is above the law, but the sad fact is institutions will remain above the law. Do you really think the FBI is going to...

Federal Indictment: James Burke, Former Suffolk Co PD Chief, December 2015

That's some chutzpah from Spota. One other question, you think Burke will flip if the Feds squeeze him hard enough with a superseding indictment? Or could all this be a moot point if the new fbi investigation finds him responsible for the dead prostitutes.

Federal Indictment: James Burke, Former Suffolk Co PD Chief, December 2015

Hawk, how far do you think the US Attorneys office is going to take this? Call me a cynic, but if this is being led out of Central Islip I don't see anything but a few more scpd guys arrested only.

Ironic indeed, but I'm assuming Burke is in protective custody since he was LEO and is not getting any general population contact.

    GUILTY NY - Sarah Goode, 21, Medford, 6 June 2014 - #2

It could be years before this case goes to trial. Pre-trial motions will need to be filed, discovery needs to take place so the attorney can learn more about the prosecutions case, and actual trial preparation is needed if a plea bargain can not be negotiated.

    Unclassified Victims **MERGED**

Before the bodies were found, Manorville was only know for the exit you get off on the Long Island Expresswy to go to the Hamptons, and the Long Island Game Farm. Compared to Western Suffolk, Manorville only has a few strips malls, gas stations and a 7-11. I remember driving out east in the...

Rita Tangredi, 31, and Colleen McNamee, 20, 1993-94 ** John Bittrolff ARRESTED **

Sometimes the newspapers publish a PDF of it, the Wall Street Journal and NY Times Deal Book are pretty with white collar complaints.

Rita Tangredi, 31, and Colleen McNamee, 20, 1993-94 ** John Bittrolff ARRESTED **

Was the indictment made available for public viewing? I am on my phone and cant really search for it. From a legal standpoint, the statements the DA made and what was reported in Newsday left me underwhelmed. Granted it could have been bad reporting, but any attorney on par with Jose Baez could...

Rita Tangredi, 31, and Colleen McNamee, 20, 1993-94 ** John Bittrolff ARRESTED **

Hi all, Just happened to stumble on this site when I was reading up on the Sarah Goode murder. Wish I found this site sooner, I am impressed with some of the posters. I'm not as funny as Leslie Nelson, but I have him beat on criminal justice and legal of experience in the field. Graduated from...

Rita Tangredi, 31, and Colleen McNamee, 20, 1993-94 ** John Bittrolff ARRESTED **

Of Course it prejudices the jury. The District Attorney and Law enforcement hold all the cards in the game. It starts with the papers and tv getting a shot of the defendant doing the prep walk, press releases are then released by the Police Agency and another by the District attorney's office...

The Rumor Mill -- unsubstantiated, yet possible relevant information

I didn't say it was popular theory within the surfcaster community, I meant Oak Beach, Gilgo, RM, and Jones Beach has guys fishing from sundown to sun up. The back bays are also popular with the boat guys fishing for striped bass. Burlap is used to handle live eels at night, they are slimy and...
