Desperation has a way of motivating people as well. Who do you call to help you dispose of your child's body?? That would be something she would have to do on her own IMO.
While we discuss BPD and it's variations I think it is important to keep in mind that all of us, ALL of us are capable of violence regardless of whether or not we ever are given a diagnosis of any type. Of course, some people are more capable than others as their coping skills may not be as...
ITA. It is also important to point out that Casey's relationship with her parent(s) may be completely different from april and her mother's. Those with BPD come from all types of families with an array of relationships. However, they tend to share common behaviors and characteristics which...
I'm so with you on this one. Nothing else makes any sense given what we know (or don't know) at this time. Somehow I'm still holding out hope that this case will become even more bizarre with the safe return of this little girl.
That makes more sense, thanks for sharing. I once knew an eight year old boy who had started burglarizing houses. He was violent with his mother and anyone who "got in his way". Nothing the family tried seemed to help. I had similar thoughts about him at that time and often wonder what...
Can I ask what antipsychotic drug he is taking? I agree with OneLost about it sounding more like ODD than OCD...I've never heard of a OCD diagnosis for lying but who knows. However, I have some concerns about a psychiatrist referring to a child as a psychopath. You really cannot diagnosis a...
Oh, I agree that she doesn't necessarily have Antisocial Personality. However, a lack of remorse or empathy isn't common at all among those with Bipolar...you are lucky enough to feel all the grief and guilt as those of us who are not Bipolar..;) I have to say that Casey's PUBLIC behavior has...
I have to agree that most of us have done/been most of those things at one time or another. However, they are not part of our personality or part of how we go about viewing ourselves, others or the world in general. I do agree that symptoms have to be viewed in context (frequency and...
I would suggest that those of you dealing with adults read up on the following diagnosis in which deceit is a prominent feature
Bipolar Disorder- these folks can be almost unbearable when they are in a manic phase. They love to get under others' skin and become very good at it. Medication...
In your sister's case the cause of her lying could be alcoholism as lying is very much a symptom of addiction. If she has an underlying mental illness (could be "self-medicating' with alcohol) it cannot be properly diagnosed until she is in recovery from her addiction.
That is what has been generally believed. That is why the PD's are on Axis II with Mental Retardation. However, I don't know that I completely buy into that. I've seen some Borderline folks make positive changes after group interventions at a local agency. IMO though, any change is slow and...
Green, please don't take offense. You'll notice I said unfriendly OR introverted. Not necessarily the same I agree. I tend to be on the introverted side myself but I am not unfriendly...unless you catch me on a really bad day. :yow:
Do you know your brother's diagnosis? I would bet he has an Axis I diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder. Psych meds usually are never prescribed for a Personality Disorder because they are not effective.
Hare agrees with me that Antisocial isn't as descriptive and he dislikes the term as well. However, if you are going to make an official mental health diagnosis you HAVE to use the term Antisocial. If Casey's psych report includes this diagnosis it will appear as Antisocial Personality...
