As a lifelong NW coast person, I believe it absolutely. The Pacific ocean is incredibly powerful. Especially this time of year, as big weather fronts come in off the deep ocean and hit the shore with spectacular force. There are a couple of points where the wind regularly hits 90-100 mph during...
I am disturbed by this case for a lot of reasons, but one is how much Jen and Sarah remind me of a couple I knew for years. They are divorced now. Our friend group always strongly suspected the "Sarah" of the pair was being abused by the "Jen"--there was one incident in particular where she had...
Nope.
They had already started beating the little ones in the first set of siblings when they finalized the adoption on the second set. If they were so overwhelmed, not adopting another three siblings would have been a great way to keep things under control. They chose to go ahead and adopt...
So they hated the attention from the photo sooooooo much that after it finally started to die down, they went and gave another interview to the Oregonian and put themselves back in the news cycle. Interesting strategy!
I have a gaggle of cute little look-alike daughters and we get attention in...
Oh I believe she had stitches--since I don't think she fell, I think someone socked her in the face. That would do it.
Jen's nasty "I told you so" tone in the post about her poor kid getting both front teeth knocked out is very unsettling and not what I would expect from a loving mom.
Honestly I don't know that I could have done much better than they did, if I were in the DeKalbs' shoes. They called CPS, which was a good call. Calling the cops the night Hannah came over probably would have been wise, but I don't know that I would do it either, if the parents showed up with a...
Anyone remember Shantina Smiley? One of the first threads I lurked on here, years ago. She also drove into the Pacific ocean. Never been found, 8 years on now. The Pacific is strong and fast. I have thought since the beginning that all the kids were in the car, and those not found at this point...
Or possibly have the kid let it slip, yep.
Even if WA Medicaid didn't cover it, you can get that kind of work done at a discount or charity rates at the Oregon Health Sciences University dental school right across the river in Portland. And with their gift for blarney, no doubt if they had...
"Kwashiorkor is a form of severe protein–energy malnutrition characterized by edema, and an enlarged liver with fatty infiltrates. Sufficient calorie intake, but with insufficient protein consumption, distinguishes it from marasmus"

I can't help but think that if any member of their "Hart tribe" really had cancer, they would have milked that for all the attention, donations, feature articles, and heartwarming videos they could get.
Cancer? Another medical diagnosis? Surgery? I wonder how much of this is true and how much is another Jen fable like the cross burning story. And if any of it is true, I wonder who the person or people were who were ill.
This is what I found. Mods feel free to delete if necessary. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/maxribner/max-ribner-band-presents-leap-to-flame-dream-show
Someone mentioned the "Hart Visions Photography" possible business upthread so I searched for it. I didn't find a business website or anything but it is given, along with the "Hart Tribe" a "special thanks" on a Kickstarter campaign for the Max Ribner Band. You may be onto something.
ETA: there...
Nahko is now using a "defend the Harts" hashtag on Twitter and telling his "tribe" of followers to go after people posting critically about the murderers. Odd that he would choose to involve himself in that way.
ETA: he claims Devonte had an eating disorder.
I am certain the "burning cross incident" in Minnesota never happened. That would have made not just local and regional but national news. The USA has problems with racism for sure, but it's not at all commonplace for a hate group to literally burn a cross on the lawn of a family for crying out...
For being a lesbian couple, they spent an awful lot of time hanging out with weirdo men who go around half nude. Sorry, I am so creeped out by the photos online of this Ribner guy, and of the Xavier guy mentioned earlier.
At the high school level though, Waldorf kids should be doing coursework that is pretty similar to mainstream high school. Algebra, chemistry, literature. Here's a store that sells Waldorf-based curriculum for that age range. I don't think these kids were being homeschooled so much as kept out...
