I have to agree- most of these elected officials are lawyers. Regardless, they should know better than to mouth off during any trial, let alone one of this magnitude.IMO

IIRC, during the Manson trial, Manson got a hold of a newspaper with the headline "Nixon States Manson is Guilty" (paraphrased). I don't have references close at hand, but I don't think a mistrial was declared. (Although Nixon was a fool to say that). IMO ETA: Manson flashed the paper at the jury.
