My personal opinion is that GZ is guilty of 2nd degree murder, but my guess is that the jury will vote for manslaughter. I think any hope of claiming self-defense or trying to assert that he was in fear went out the window when he got out of his truck.
New Rendering of Jane Doe from Cold Case
Story Updated: Dec 11, 2012
RACINE-A new rendering of a Jane Doe found in Racine 13 years ago, may finally heat up the cold case.
The forensics rendering is suggestive of what she may have looked like and not an exact depiction...
I think the cross looks very ordinary, and similar to the type of thing you find in the 'novelty' section in convenience stores, souvenir shops, etc. Could also be homemade.
To me, it looks more like it goes on a keyring rather than a necklace.
Just an FYI that may help some people if WS is loading slowly or if you're trying to catch up on a thread quickly... I just go to the 'Archive' version (which is text-only) and read through the posts there. You can't post from there or thank a post, but it's a good way to bring yourself...
This has been such a sad story to follow.
My guess/theory is that the perpetrator is someone who lives close Jessica's home. Maybe not right on her street, but very close. While it could be someone with a history or a record, I tend to doubt that right now. His actions don't sound like what...
Well, many many people who saw those initial photos that you've been referring to have not changed their opinion of Zimmerman's actions that night. Even if people somehow thought that the first picture of Trayvon that we were shown was him at 17, I'm not sure how their minds would still be...
I don't know where everyone got their information when this case first broke, but I never heard the story as being one about a fat man and a sweet 12 year-old. The way I heard it, a 28 year-old Florida man shot and killed a 17 year-old. I think that perhaps you're assuming that most people who...
Yes, you say something. Period. You do not take it further than that. You say something to LE, the ones who are paid to take care of it. You call them and step aside. Period.
Songline, I know that you made several posts earlier criticizing the media, so I want to say something briefly about...
Going back to the issue of when the PD identified Trayvon, I think that all plays into their acceptance of Zimmerman's story. IMO, they might have checked into Trayvon's cell phone early on and found out he was from Miami. They then might have thought that his not being from the area bolstered...
More than a little harsh, IMO. Really, what had Trayvon done to earn any name-calling whatsoever from this guy? What is it about a teenager walking along that makes him either an a-hole or a 'punk' (or whatever the word turns out to be)?
Yes. How is it possible to hold one's hand over another's mouth while beating him up? I mean, what part of Zimmerman's body is Trayvon supposed to be beating at that point? And if Trayvon's on Zimmerman as Z claims, how did Z get his gun unholstered and get off a shot? He got the gun out and...
I just read the Reuters article called Before the World Heard the Cries.
This part, where Trayvon's father is relating what Investigator Serino gave as Zimmerman's version of events is more than a little confusing to me:
I can't even picture that. It makes no sense to me whatsoever...
I've wondered that myself from the beginning. I'm not clear on just when Zimmerman parked wherever he was when he called the PD, or how he came to be there. I think I missed that part of the timeline.
I find it hard to believe that a kid is going to be walking around with a can of warm Arizona Tea for any length of time. I'm not sure where you're going with this, unless it's to claim that he wasn't on his way back from the 7-11? Why would that even be an issue?
Perhaps the point is to try...
I agree completely. That sounds like something a person would say after a long (days, months, years) pursuit. It would fit in a Wild West movie, or a thriller in which a detective has been after a suspect for a long time, or a Mafia/Mob thing. I don't for a minute believe that Trayvon said that...
When it comes to pictures, I think the media showed what they had. With a breaking story, you go with whatever is available; you don't wait for better/current pictures. And it doesn't seem that there are a lot of pictures of Zimmerman out there, so showing that one picture of him shouldn't be...
And his response to 'What is your name?' on two calls, one of which was the night he killed Trayvon, was just 'George'; the dispatch employee had to ask for his last name. I find it weird that anyone on the phone with the police would think they just want to know your first name.
