For those of you asking about the Smyrna connection -
We are at the south end of Nashville-Davidson County. The county line is less than a mile away. Just across the line is the small (but growing) town of Lavergne, then Smyrna. It would not be unusual for several people there to be from...
It's not that unusual to hear gunshots from hunters and such (it's mostly woods and lake out here), but once we heard the sirens we walked that direction. Old reporter habits never die. Once I saw the sheer number of units responding, though, I briefly talked to a neighbor outside and went back...
Devin's story is getting a little bump in the local media with the four month anniversary of his disappearance. It's hard to believe there has been no sign of him. I really thought he'd be found quickly...
Foxes also sound like children screaming at times, and there are plenty in that area. I personally don't put too much weight in the scream and the stranger.
It's only four hours or so. Close enough, in fact, that his attorneys are hoping to have his trial moved to Des Moines.

Yes, I can't shake the feeling that this mystery could be quickly solved with just a little more information. I can't imagine I wouldn't take advantage of all the possibilities to locate a lost loved one, no matter how long it had been. Modern technology offers many, many options that weren't...
UM re-aired this case today. Surely his siblings or other family members survive. I wonder if they still believe he is missing and endangered, or if they came to believe he left of his own volition. The lack of online presence and limited information makes me believe they could have stopped...
Primarily the pelvis area. Women's pelvic bones are more open, wider and have a number of other differences for childbirth. Before and during puberty, male and female skeletons are much harder to tell apart. I'm assuming, however, they wouldn't have thought a small skeleton "appeared" male...
Here's the ID and update. What a weird story, but we've all seen stranger around here.

Last night I mentioned all of the sirens in my neighborhood, and the scanner chatter. This is what was going on.

Im a little afraid to think that "filed a report" equates to "called the police" but since they can't legally take a report they just said "OK, thanks." I mean, it doesn't seem like they put a whole lot of effort into it even when JC reported it.
I think that's a great question, and an even better recommendation for there to be promotion of a true third option for reporting tips. I know I wouldn't want to endanger myself or risk her life by calling local cops who seem to not care anyway.
(Also, this whole thing reminds me how lucky I...
I'm reaching out to some journalist friends in Little Rock and trying to identify someone who has the experience to really get their hands dirty on this case, the time to pursue it full force, and the pull/connections to get their publication behind it. Broadcast news (in my experience) is...
Do pre-pay phones that come with the minutes packages also come with a new number? I'm trying to recall buying one for my nephew a few years ago, and I'm thinking they do. The phones are cheaper because you are also buying minutes and basically the service for a little while as well. It's a...
I've searched Montgomery Co and the surrounding counties for info on the possible criminal case. The only thing I can find where an Amy L. Murphy was the defendant was a case filed in August 2014. "C5 HOSPITAL LIEN FLD C5 HOSPITAL LIEN FILED FROM AUTO ACCIDENT ON 11-6-13 AMOUNT OF $1,741.44...
