Maybe the bones were in a clear evidence bag.... no contamination.
Maybe they just told her they were Haleigh's.... but I agree, doesn't sound like something LE would do. However, I have read of them taking a suspect to view the body at the crime scene... it's shock value. They could have shown her some other bones and she wouldn't know the difference.

It's my understanding that bones can't be cremated in a regular fire. A bonfire wouldn't have a high enough heat for the bones to turn to ashes.

I am well aware of that fact and was not making reference to ordinary fire.

I actually think that they could have shown her something and if they are telling the parents to prepare for a funeral, I think they did find something. Do I think it's disrespectful to show MC remains in order to help bring justice to this poor little baby? No, I would do whatever it takes. Letting her killers roam free is more disrespectful to me so if LE did show her bones to help with the investigation, more power to them! MOO

Anything LE does at this point, I believe, is all for affect. I think they are hoping the 'right' tidbit of info might send one of these 'characters' off the edge. Unfortunately, I don't think it will be MC. It's more likely ToC will crack. And FORGET RC, he seems so emotionless about all of this. His fits of anger are more for show. Not something he is feeling!

Was MC and TC taken to the dock two separate times? I have heard that TC was there and also I saw the video of when MC was there. At that time there was no mention of TC being with her. So, I am confused as to the number of visits to the dock for each of them. tia

In the 911 call RC seems more pissed off that someone "stole HIS daughter" than worried about Haliegh, as if she was HIS property and someone else invaded HIS property.
I'm not sure if I think he had anything to do with her disappearance (murder), I'm leaning toward no. But I do tend to have strong feelings about his him. He really seems to be dominating, as if those who are in his life are his belongings, and he has his priorities ALL screwed up.
Hope I didn't step over a line there, just telling it like it is.

I know that anthropologists can pretty much tell an animal bone by looking at it, although they always do definitive tests when asked.

Showing her the bones may explain the stiffness in her body--almost reverence, that MC shows. And it may be a touch of revulsion (though I also agree she may only have seen deer bones in a muddy box).

TexasMist just posted this article in the media thread.

Snipped:
Croslin, now jailed on drug charges, was brought in shackles to the boat ramp.

According to the sheriff's office, divers had uncovered many bones and placed them near the dock to dry.

They were mostly deer bones, with some alligator and possibly other animal bones.

An anthropologist was on the scene to identify them.

The sheriff's office said Croslin saw the bones as she was being led to the ramp, but at no time did investigators tell her they were human bones.

The sheriff's office also said many of the bones were shipped to the FDLE lab for further investigation, and that some of those may be shipped on to other labs as well.

So, LE is claiming they did not show her the bones, she just saw them while being led up the dock.

But, IMO, they were laid out so they were sure MC saw them.

Great tactic. They did not "officially" show her the bones, she just happened to see them.

I thought they were animal bones as soon as this was posted.

I'm SOOOOO sick of these self-proclaimed 'journalists/reporters' who merely talk out their butts. Only to cause drama and make headlines on NG, etc. Right now, I only watch NG and read blogs such as this for amusement and entertainment. I've mentally shut them all out to await news from REAL reporters where the information is 'juried' but mostly I'll just await LE naming their POI's.

I'm done with it.

I have to give you the credit for finding the article Good job!

They are selling it but I am not buying it.

While some items have been shipped to a human remains lab in Gainesville, investigators said that was only for teaching purposes at the lab, and they do not need those items back.

It's my understanding that bones can't be cremated in a regular fire. A bonfire wouldn't have a high enough heat for the bones to turn to ashes.

And I recall there were several suspicious fires around the time after Haleigh disappeared. One I believe was a boat, another a storage shed, another 13 acres... each enough to incinerate most of the bones...

Here is my take on it - and I'm not being sarcastic or derogatory toward the PCSO at all - just stating my opinion....
It appears that every time that someone puts out an "article" that hits close to home with PCSO that they always try to "refute it" - without giving us or anyone else any info. Sometimes I just want to smack them - LOL.

First the Mondex - no they weren't draining a pond - when locals reported oh yes they are - then it became it was a training exercise and nothing to do with Haleigh. Then when questioned further from info rec'd from various sources they admitted that yes it was in regards to a search for Haleigh.

Then the search at the St Johns River - end of March - everyone could see them out there - but it was in regards to a 2 yr old case from (IIRC) Volusia County? But yet, Volusia County wasn't even involved in the search? That was noticed right away....

Then the latest river search - nothing of evidentary value was found - but others were reporting yes there was - 2 cinder blocks.....now those are being processed at the lab...

Articles state it was due to TC's lie detector tests and some say his call to Gramma - PCSO THEN verifies that TC was taken to the dock and yes he did call Gramma (but won't release call)

Then the forensic truck was "on stand by" in case it was needed.....yet further research (links are all in this threads) show it didn't show up until after 5pm and then left at around 7:30 pm....

Now....Nothing was said about showing MC bones (or her seeing bones) UNTIL AH has posted his article...and then it becomes that they had "many of the bones" laid out to dry and she saw them...

I might not believe everything AH says as "gospel truth" but it sure seems that some of his articles (and some others also) are what FINALLY gets PCSO to address certain issues - otherwise they would not be advising us of ANYTHING (IMO)

I take what AH states with a grain of salt, but more and more it seems that maybe just maybe thanks to AH we are getting snippets of information from PCSO that we might not otherwise have.

All of this is JMOO

Soooo -
Have they made a statement about what they found?
They said once they hadn't found human remains, but that was before they ended the search. I think some outlets are still quoting that statement, but I'm confused.
Would they send animal bones to FDLE and possibly other labs? Wouldn't those anthropolgists be able to tell if the bones were animal or human?

It seems there is a lot they aren't saying..:waitasec:

Okay - I'm getting sick now . .

One interesting facet of AH's reporting (IF AH source is family members) is that AH's versions come from those have information, interpretations & reactions as to recent events from the players who are incarcerated. Same for Gma Hollar's TV chit chat. It's like we have this little foggy window from which to view a game of cat & mouse.

I could start a discussion of LE leaks vs. official statements. But, that's another thread. Suffice it to say, LE is controlling information.

I'm somewhat content knowing that some sort of confessions are happening to the point where the local press is being fed further details daily.

I hear there's a sale on Patience at the Kangaroo. Just in time. I don't know about you guys, but I'm running low.
