BBM I agree, but lets not forget that we, also, have made it that way. From certain crimetainment TV personalities giving this case so much attention, to us, ourselves, making this case a national concern. Us, and other newsjunkies like us, keep this case at the forefront, and therefore, add to the expense of trial.

You know, I think that's absurd. It's a forum. With opinions. How does a forum on the net keep this case or anything in the forefront? We don't number in the millions and it would also presume forums had a lot of influence. Seriously? Take a look at other cases of missing children or murdered children on this forum and others. They don't seem to have turned into 'special' cases aka "circus".

I was seated in the courtroom when KC entered and sat down. She primped and patted her hair and played with her fingernails but she never cried. She did wipe her eye and look at her finger but that didn't last very long and it wasn't crying she was doing. She did not look around the courtroom to see who was present or absent. She was animated with the female law assistant. She may have zoned out but IMO she wasn't drugged because she seemed to be lively before the hearing began.

So glad you were able to go again Amil!!
Were you surprised at how long it was? Didn't appear to be many people sitting on the Defense side and didn't see the State's side the way the camera's were focused. Was there any of KC's regulars there?

LOVED LOVED LOVED when JP said to JB "so you are stating that Henry Lee cannot testify as an expert as to decomposed hair and JB said "no he cannot" then JP said "be careful Mr. Baez because that statment may come straight back at you someday in the future". (in my own words but along the lines of what was said) Me dont thinks JB expected that comment from JP because NOW he cannot have Dr. Lee testify about the decomposed hair AT ALL!

i would love to be a fly on the wall if judge perry and strickland talk today- NEXT!!! I will go next week to hearing- bring money for parking garage 2.00 hour!! worth it plus gas-lol

BBM. I agree, and besides, how exactly does discussing a case on an internet bulletin board add to the expense of trial???:waitasec:

Sorry QB, you were right in your recollection, see Baez brings in other issues and confuses things so much. He would love everything sealed though don't you think? Thanks for coming back and posting this.

From what I have seen Baez tries to get these type digs in where ever he can even if they don't pertain to what he is talking about, reminds me of a spoiled child.

I believe one big loss for the defense today, was when JB asking for funding other forensic experts Judge Perry stated that he had just approved funding for Dr. Henry Lee, and that thus one forensic expert was all they needed. But, since the judge in Phil Spector's murder trial ruled that Lee removed something from the scene where actress Lana Clarkson was shot and withheld it from the prosecution, the SA will be free to bring up that fact during his cross examination. Since he will be he only defense forensic expert, and his testimony will easily be called in question …

OT... it annoys the crap outta me that Baez doesn't have the common courtesy to step aside when the JAC comes to the podium to speak. He makes the JAC lean over him in order to speak. :banghead:
I think that must also be because he is multi-lingual ~ you know, ventriloquism as a second language...........

No meds. I think this was inmate Anthonys first full in her face wakeup to the serious of her actions. I think she was having flash backs as well as flash forwards of her life. She knows what the side bar was about. She knows why the A clan wasn't there, she knows what her fate will be.

Also I think she was being self contained with the new rules she was told to follow. She had deep breaths as well as lots of swallowing. It was evident when CM asked that she not have to attend hearings anymore.

She knows ..... I feel a plea coming down the road. ........ bus coming for the A compound residents.

Respectfully, I disagree. I noticed the admiring, "confident" gaze KC gave Mason when JP threw a couple of compliments his way. I think KC believes her defense team will get her out of this.

Hey, I started a new thread to talk about the taphonomy expert if anyone is interested:

[ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104092"]Defense Taphonomy Expert - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community[/ame]

It's my first thread, so I hope I did it right. I can't get this expert out of my head and how he or she will impact Casey's trial if approved.

I watched the hearing but am no good at posting and listening at the same time so I have a couple of after thoughts I would like to ask others their opinions of.

First the way JP keep bringing up that this being a DP case when he agreed to things. During the first hearing I thought he brought up the DP so much as he was trying to stress the seriousness of the charges to KC but today I got a different impression. Today I got the impression that he was almost admonishing the SA for seeking the DP on this case each time he said it.

Second when they was discussing the need for a cell phone expert and the pings. It almost sounded like JP was saying that testimony may not even be permissible as you couldn't prove who was in possession of the phone.

Please tell me I am wrong on both accounts and that it was just me today after trying to watch such a long hearing with only a little sleep last night.

I got that impression too but here's my take. Perry said something like 'you can't tell who had the cell phone so you can't tell where Casey was at any given time or that Casey was in possession of that phone.' True but, perhaps Perry isn't very wise in regards to texting. In particular, the amount of texting Casey did. I can't remember the # but the average number of texts that she sent was astounding. I hate to say this because I really like this judge but he may need to be schooled on texting. You can tell who has the phone unless the defense wants to go go down the road that leads to someone stole Casey's phone then impersonated her to her friends.

IMO

Maybe his boots are too tight
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRkovnss7sg[/ame] he walked away from kathi , he should have said boot skootin boogie- no comment. you keep when you otta be--- the words are funny as they fit casey - the boots do not fit perhaps

Thanks and I wouldn't put it pass the defense to try to blame it on others. Let's just hope the jury is cell phone savvy too!

O.M.G. I have witnessed a lot of "lawyers leaving the courtroom" interviews in my day, but I have never seen anything quite like little-boy-Baez throwing a hissy fit when encountered by a few tough (fair!!) questions by WFTV's Kathi Belich! Unbelievable!! IMO, Baez was still feeling the sting of his embarrassing courtroom appearance and knows that all of his sneaky dealings and mishandling of the $340,000 he already spent (wasted) is going to be exposed to the taxpaying public. He was a pouty, whiny, arrogant b@stard to reporters because his inflated ego took a nice, well-deserved hit today. What happened to Mr. I-love-media-interviews?? Baez just disgusts me.....not as much as his client of course.....but he is certainly a bottom-feeder along with the rest of the defense team and the .000001% of the population who thinks this is a "conspiracy theory" against poor Casey. Blah!
Of course, MOO MOO MOO....

Wow. I can't tell you how enjoyable it was to read about Baez getting smacked down by JP over and over again. I think he might actually find a corner to curl up in and cry this time. I just don't understand how he thinks he's going to win over anyone on the jury talking so unclearly and bad, tasteless joke after bad, tasteless joke. CM better get him lessons on speaking in court STAT.

Totally shocked the A's weren't there. Amends, huh? Yeah, riiiiiiiiiiiiiight. So no blowing kisses and saying I love you to Casey anymore? Sounds like amends were made to me! NOT. And I so totally thought of Cindy when they talked about a decomp expert, ROFL. She'd probably be too pricey, though. You know how much the A's love money...

Wow, just wow, I bow down to JP. He is my new HERO! And he's also the worst nightmare of this defense, which just makes me smile. Ahhh, justice, I never knew you could be so much fun! JP has breathed a whole new life into the case by taking all of the hot air out of the defense. I'm loving it!!!!

And I was shocked the defense had that many experts. Holy cow, they might ACTUALLY be putting a defense together. Who'd have thought? 19 experts! And of course they had to find them out of state. I don't think anyone in the State of Florida wants to be associated with Baez or this case. I can totally see him having a hard time finding anyone.

The one thing I don't get at all is that fossil expert. Wait a minute, we're not talking about dinosaur bones, and wasn't the defense saying she was put there much later? I don't see how fossilization plays a role in this case at all. It seems like the defense is now contradicting themselves, unless I'm misunderstanding the fossil expert (I forget the scientific name). Can anyone elaborate on what such an expert could testify to in this case?

Overall, a great but lengthy hearing. I may have to actually find a live feed and watch it! JP is Da MAN! And I'm thinking all the fun has been completely sucked out of this case for the entire defense. But hey, at least it's getting fun for us now. I like that much better :)

Oh, and btw, NEXT! and I'm ready to rule are my two new favorite words/phrases. lol

BBM
I strongly suggest you watch it...I believe you will enjoy it! :D

As to the mystery expert. Well the ONLY area that JB did not cover with his gazillion experts was medical - mental health. Judge Strickland ordered an psych eval on KC a long time ago, and I just can't see the defense not countering this. Fellow sleuthers, I am going to say this again: fighting so hard to keep the mitigation specialist they already have, and not one word about any medical/mental health expert so far. To me, this sounds like the clue phone ringing off the hook. Plea Bargain time! Dr. to explain why KC did not tell anyone what happened accident, temporary insanity, snapped due to whatever mental condition she has and the specialist to try and garner sympathy for their client so she can be given a lighter sentence.

HUGE lightbulb just went off here. I think I could even expand on where you are going with this! Thanks Macushla!

I tend to agree he wasn't wise in his comments although I thought it was because he didn't think a ping expert was worth bringing in - that any point Baez was trying to make could be done on cross with the State's witness, or a similar type of person, not a separate expert.
