I think he targeted at least one of his victims, but I believe he may have targeted all 4. I would think that after the 3rd floor murders, even if he heard someone, his first instinct would be to flee. He was disguised and I doubt he saw the girls as a physical threat. He could have exited fairly easily—so why didn’t he?

I can understand how Kaylee’s presence might have caused him to kill her as she apparently fought back.

But it would have been easier and faster to just go down the stairs and out. JMO

Either X and E were planned or made him feel threatened in some way.

In my opinion, the reason he killed the others is he didn't want anyone to call the police to give him as much time as possible.

If he did speed away, that shows he was worried someone else might call. Maybe someone else in the house or in another residence.

My personal opinion is after planning to kill one girl, then getting surprised when he turned the lights on that there were 2 girls in the bed.. he panicked and killed them both then with high adrenaline he killed the other two downstairs when he ran into one of them and he/she fled to the bedroom where the other one was.

IMO, he planned to kill 1 and ended up killing 4. He ran out of there and raced out of the neighborhood in his car.

He headed as far away from civilization as he could by heading south. he made a wide circular path to get back to Pullman . He dumped his knife and changed in an isolated area within 10 miles of Moscow.

And here we go. KILLER IN WAITING by Noah Lezak
"A nonfiction account of the Idaho murders committed by Bryan Kohberger."
Noah Lezak must be a pseudonym; can't find anything by him or SM about him except his new book about BK.
Hope he has a good lawyer. JMO
Also available in paperback.

Written by an amateur to make a quick buck IMO. I read through the fourth paragraph of the "sample" on Amazon. The grammar, punctuation and sentence structure were horrendous. Very similar to reading a post from one of those FB groups. MOO

Question: If one is using an external hard drive, would search sites like google or duck duck go still be able to pinpoint the IP and /or account of the person making searches? TIA.

Bryan Kohberger's jail cell. He is in this isolated section alone. These 4 cells are one person cells. General population is together in a separate area. For security he is not allowed to be in the general population common area with all the other inmates and he eats alone in his cell. The other inmates can watch TV and eat in their common area together. Play cards, board games, talk, trade commissary items, share food, help each other with court cases, etc.... Lonely being isolated.

Assuming BK went to the house to perpetrate a killing and he went intentionally with his knife, plus had been scoping the area and was very familiar with local streets and roads from both his night running and driving around, it seems likely to me he would have decided on a place to hide / discard the knife?

That place would have to be somewhere he immediately drove to surely? And somewhere he was familiar with. So where could it be? I haven't heard much speculation on this subject. Has there been much searching for the knife?

If connecting to the Internet (like on your phone) your device will have an IP of the entity you are connecting through. If connecting through ATT, you would have an ATT internal IP, the traffic to your device is logged to that IP which ATT knows.

If on your home computer, same thing: Your computer (and every device on your network/wifi) will have a unique "private IP" like 192.168.x.x or 10.0.0.x.x, etc. Your router will have a "public IP". Let's say you have Comcast, your router would have 50.x.x.x. Internet traffic would be associated with your router. Your router MAY log what's going to each device. It's not detailed, it may list the outside IP and then individual internal device IP. Like Google would be: <date-time stamp>8.8.8.8<port used, html is 80, https 443 (typical) and then internal device IP 10.x.x.x.

(You could go to Google and type: What's my IP and the result will be the public IP of the router you are connecting through).

This can then be pieced together with the browser history which will be much more detailed; images from websites visited, cookies, links visited (time stamped), etc.

Hope this helps.

Wow they are tiny! I'd be curious to know a lot more about what life is like living in one of those cells.

Are people allowed some books or electronic devices for entertainment? I wonder if they communicate / associate in that small communal area? OMG what do they do all day and how could anyone cope?

Thank you so very much!!

I didn't even make it to the end of the FIRST sentence before I noticed a huge error. 1112 King Rd. (it's actually 1122 King Rd which all of you know)

2nd sentence - Missed comma between Moscow and Idaho.

3rd sentence - The population of Moscow isn't ~10K... it's ~26K!!! Various sources have different population numbers, but I'm not seeing ~10K. Moscow, Idaho Population 2023

That's it for me. lol

I hope like heck those book sales bomb. Whoever wrote that doesn't deserve one penny.

The photo you see is where Bryan is isolated in one of four isolation cells. This is not where all the other inmates are. The other inmates are in "General Population" and have larger cells with roommates and a larger common room where they eat, play games, and watch TV together.

Bryan is 6 feet tall and weighs 185 pounds - unless he has gained or lost weight - so the tiny isolation cell, standard sized cot and thin bedding, and small metal stools don't do him any favors.

The section you can see is the maximum security segregation section. That small area with the table is just for the individual who is housed in one of these 4 segregation cells. So Bryan can come out of his cell to use the phone on the wall and to take a shower. The phone has a headset for privacy.

It would be nice if they let him eat meals at the table but he eats in his cell. It would also be nice if he could come out and watch the TV on the wall but he actually has a basic cable TV positioned just outside the bars of his cell where a guard controls the channels.

He is not free to just come and go as he pleases from his tiny cell to his tiny common room, unlike the inmates in General Population who have more freedom in leaving their cells to use their common room.

The only time Bryan is allowed to see other inmates is on Sunday for religious service. He can pick where he wants to sit but can't talk to anyone. He also has the option of attending Bible study on Wednesday evenings.
He has been attending Mass on Sundays.

Kohberger also has access to a tablet that has older movies that he can watch if he pays five cents per minute and he can also pay to use the tablets to make video calls or access email.

Kohberger has his choice of library or outside time. Sometimes getting to do both for an hour at a time.
The jail's library consists of reading books, a Pull up Bar, a Dip Bar, and a complete set of Idaho Code books and Federal Code books for legal research.

Kohberger also reportedly has access to mental health services, but has yet to make any requests to meet with a professional.

Medical Staff come into the jail twice a week for inmate sick call and they handle the majority of the cases. Those cases that require a specialists such as Dental, Eye Exams, Lab Work, X-ray’s or any other procedure that cannot be done in the facility are brought to a local Provider in the area.

My question is, why would anyone buy it?
That is exactly my question. I think people should be allowed to write whatever they want. You might get sued eventually however. It amazes me that someone would publish it, but I know there are self publishing options. But the bigger questions is why would anyone buy it? You have to know its all crap.

Im sorry, but until someone speaks to it at the hearing, there is no way for us to know which lights were on/off and how dark it was. It hasn't been mentioned anywhere. Opinions and scenarios are great and that's why folks put JMO or MOO when speaking to different ideas. I have no idea either way; light vs dark. Mainly because what happened still happened. MOO.
Apologies if my post had any sort of "tone" to it! Reading back over it, I wasn't trying to shut down your question. By all means, we've discussed everything about this case 20+ times already and will probably continue to do so until June.

Also fwiw I enjoyed your post regarding posthumous degrees and paying tribute to the 4 housemates :)

That's why I wrote JMO and made a point to say "could have" just to cover all the bases!

This is why the question of lighting/darkness continues to be brought up (JMO). As you said, what happened still happened regardless of how dark or hard to navigate. That is what makes it all the more curious IMHO as it would seem to many of us, a difficult feat to accomplish getting around that house in the dark, especially in such short time.

BK. Planning the "Perfect Crime? An Evil Walter Mitty?

snipped for focus @Wallendo
If BK planned a commando-like attack and later fame (notoriety), the type of knife may have been an integral component--- to spawn a moniker like ---

"Ka-Bar Killer." Working w lightening strike force.

A stretch? Yes, absolutely, positively, but atm I cannot rule it out.
Thanks @al66pine Brilliant moniker and likely one BK would like.
IMO The "Book-learned Killer" would suit him, but still give him more credit than due. If fame is part of his plan, a moniker will delight him. Hope nothing sticks except evidence.

Others that came to mind:
Bushy-brow Killer
Backdoor Creepy Killer
Botched Killer

Or my favorite "The Nutcase Weirdo"

Biased Speculation. JMO.

I remember he went to a drive through but didn’t purchase anything. The morning after murder. Also noted there was a river nearby that area. I always wondered if he went through drive through as an alibi but either threw weapon out the window or quickly parked and ran to river to throw. It’s so hard to find anything in the media now with so much out there. He drove quite a bit after murder. So much area.

Wow thanks for all this info.

I appreciate the crimes are horrific and beyond comprehension but this manner of detention is so brutal. It's hard to imagine that someone wouldn't want to speak to a mental health professional or take spiritual advice in the circumstances too. I can't imagine how anyone survives it.

I speculate that BK is obsessive and paranoid, JMO and not my place to 'armchair diagnose' but I think we've had some indications of this. It seems to me that if he premeditated a serious crime using this knife, he would have thoroughly contemplated how to dispose of it.

Personally speaking if I'd done what he had (unimaginable), I wouldn't be able to relax until the knife was smelted and no particle of it remained. If that possibility wasn't available, I think I'd chemically clean it, dip it in acid, make sure no distinguishing features or unique dents remained, catapult it or launch it somehow, maybe even using a drone, far as possible into some form of deep water body (preferably one without a tide). So. If I can think of all that from my perfectly average brain, imagine what he's gone and done with it :O
