(1) What was YOUR "WOW!" moment of the day?
Hmm... probably when JM brought up JA giving herself a papercut and asking her how she though TA felt when she stabbed him.

(2) What line of questioning/sparring seemed to garner the most interest from the jury?
I was only in the afternoon session, but they took a lot of notes right after the 48 hrs. clip was played. They were definitely paying attention to the ?'s and A's that followed.

(3) How apparent was the change in Jodi's demeanor today in court & did it change the way you listened to (or believed) her testimony? and
It was another 180!! She went from the soft spoken "victim" during direct, switched to the arrogant and snarky REAL Jodi on Thursday, and she was back to soft spoken today. NOT AT ALL. I don't care if she whispers or screams... she's still LYING!

(4) Who commands more attention during the testimony: Juan Martinez or Jodi Arias?
Martinez, definitely. There were a couple of times that several jurors were looking back and forth between the two, but there are still a few that I never saw look at JA. At all.

Thank you SO MUCH for your insights. It is so interesting to get an inside view! I probably wouldn't make eye contact with Jodi, either. I'm scared of her and I'm on the opposite coast!

I know who MY gaze would follow the whole time. (My hubby is already tired of hearing about the Amazing Juan Martinez.) :blushing:

Ok, so I'll start on my notes. First, I couldn't see Jodi from where I was sitting because an interns head was blocking my view of her. I did have a great view of the jury though, so almost all of my notes are about them. I'll first start with adding my take on each of them to Anita's awesome list. I made a list of my own because I wasn't as smart as PASA (she printed Anita's list and had it with her). My comments are in purple.

Jurors

1.Church Lady- Mid 50's, short hair, no make-up, glasses.
This lady looks absolutely disgusted the whole time. I never once saw her look in the direction of JA. Not ONCE. She either stares straight forward or looks at JM.

2.Trump-Guy in 40's, lots of hair, car salesman look.
I called this guy "Comb Over" he had his head resting on his hand almost the whole time. He also never looks at JA. He seemed to be paying attention, but also seemed bored.

3.Housewife-She is a big lady (tall and heavy set, not obese) with a very sweet face, no make-up.
Interesting different view today. I called her the "Angry Neighbor Lady" Lol. I wrote that she follows along, but has a constant "sour puss". I don't know if it's just "her look" or what, but she seemed to be frowning every time I looked at her.

4.Grandpa-Bald, sweet faced older man that looks like my grandpa.
I also named this man Grandpa. He does have a sweet face and seems the "calm" type.

5.Tricolor-Early 30's, short, stylish haircut with three colors, reminds me of one of my hairstylists.
This is the only one I remembered Anita's name for because her hair stood out, Lol. She reminded me of my best friend. She probably gave more facial expressions than any of the others. She is very engaged and took a fair amount of notes.

6.Nancy-Lady in her 50's, lovely face, reminds me of Nancy Reagan with glasses, short sassy haircut.
I called her Spikey Hair. Anita's description is better. She was the only one I saw look at Jodi when the jury first walked in. She took a lot of notes.

7.Paul Rudd-Younger guy, mid-late 20's with spiky hair, sweat jacket, looks like the actor Paul Rudd.
He does look like Paul Rudd, but with shorter hair. He's a good looking young man.

8.The CEO-Good looking man, mid 50's with goatee. Can see him being the jury foreman.
I called this guy "The Dad". He looks nothing like my dad, Lol, but for whatever reason... I got a fatherly feel from him.

9.Willy-Old hippy with long white ponytail, thin, small build.
This guy looked PIZZED the whole time. He seemed to be staring towards the media lady or just into the corner. I only saw him look at JM or JA maybe once.

10.Barb-Female, 40's, has the "sexy librarian" look, wearing a form fitting sweater, slender build and voluptuous. If ANYONE on the jury is offended by disparaging comments regarding breast augmentation, my guess is it would be her. She is the only juror I couldn't see very clearly; just when she entered and exited the courtroom and when I stretched up out of my seat to gawk at her.
I called this lady "Plain Jane" She was very hard to see from where I was, but I could tell she was taking notes quite a bit.

11.Poquito-Little Mexican guy (maybe 5'3) with long graduated pony tail, lots of facial hair and piercings.
I called him "Paco" He was hard to see too, but mostly because he was slouched down in his seat I thought he'd fall off Lol. At one point he was bent over instead of slouching, but still very hard to see.

12.Neil-Early 50's high forehead, glasses, looks very nervous and turns red easily. This is the guy that makes KCL nervous.
I called this guy "Jim" I wrote "very hard to read".

13.The Wrestler-Younger good looking guy, large build.
I called this guy "The Jock" He reminded me a little of Oz on American Pie (Chris Klein).

14.Old potsmoking CPA (I have no idea why I wrote this, i have ZERO recollection of this juror. He did not make any impression on me, other than when I was going down the rows naming them.)
I called this guy Sleepy. He swiveled in his chair a lot and fell asleep at least twice. He was also slouched down in his chair.

15.Elderly Man-This man is definitely the oldest juror, he occasionally uses the headphones to listen to the proceedings that Jodie's Auntie uses.
I called him "Captain" He has a very intense gaze. It's hard to describe but he gives off a stubborn and no bs vibe. Maybe ex military or something?

16.Maureen-Red haired, glasses (the red might be too red to be a natural ginger) If I had to guess one Mormon on the jury, it would be her.
I called her The Secretary. She took a lot of notes and had a "polished" look to her. She had her whole body turned facing Jodi. I barely saw her look at JM. She was the only one that really made me feel nervous at all.

17.Pony Tail-Young girl, pony tail, plain, pony tail and sweats.
I called her frumpy lady. Not in a rude way... it's just the word that came to mind. Very plain. She took a lot of notes.

18.The Artist-Bald, attractive, glasses, 50's-60's, large build, holds his notebook on a binder as if he's going to sketch. He looks around the gallery a lot. I thought we met eyes a couple of times, but who knows, that room is so huge!
This guy also had a very intense gaze. He took some notes. He rubbed his face and tapped his fingers to his lips a lot. He wasn't the only one doing stuff like that, but I'll get into that in my notes.

Ignore the names I threw in there. We should stick with Anita's. I just thought it would be interesting to give different peoples views on them. :) More to come!

It looks like you had genuine impressions of the jury. Don't sell yourself short.

newbie here waving hello to everyone. Thank you so much to all the WS courtroom folks, I'm loving reading all the daily accounts. I'm so glad to find others that are as fascinated with this trial as myself!!

I've noticed some say that some of the jury members don't look at JA ever, I will say that kinda bothers me in the fact I want them to see her defiant little faces and smirks.

I'm going to just type out exactly what I jotted down. Hopefully it makes sense, Lol. I honestly think I missed some of what was being said because I was so focused on watching the jury.

It was a really incredible experience being in there. I made friends with the two ladies sitting next to me while we waited for the afternoon session to start. Tanisha came over and handed out blue ribbons and was really sweet. She said a few times "Thank you so much for supporting us."

JM is a really short guy! Lol I don't know what I expected, but he was pretty short. He looks the same as he does on TV though.

Nurmi is really tall, but doesn't seem as big as he appears on TV. Wilmott is a very pretty lady and is taller than JM, or close in height. I got a bad vibe from the mitiagation specialist lady. I'm not sure why, but I didn't get a good feel from her.

Omg I saw Beth Karas while walking to the bathroom and she is TINY!!! I'm 5'2" and she looked to be quite a bit shorter. I'm curious how tall she is now Lol. She is also very pretty in person. I didn't have the nerve to say anything to her Lol.

I actually thought the court room would be bigger. The gallery part is smaller than it appears on TV. JA and the judge are pretty far away. I had a head blocking my view of JA, but I don't think I would've been able to make out much facial expressions anyway.

OK... to the notes.

Page 1

Jury not looking at her at first. They are either looking at JM or straight ahead.

2 & 7 are resting their head on their hands almost immediately after sitting down.

JA's demeanor is totally different again. I think the DT must have warned her about the attitude.

18 looks intense

NOTHING is her responsibility

TriColor lets out a big sigh when JM brings out JA's journal

11 looks bored out of his mind

1 looks disgusted reading the journal entry

Waiting Patiently

Cute.. exactly how we feel ;)

Great observations from the courtroom. Maureen is the one I'm worried about. Damn. Glad you all got to meet! We will definitely have a verdict party!:great:

We did after Peterson and it was awesome!

Discussing events of 3/2/2008

Several jurors have their fingers over their mouths. A few are taping their lips with their fingers, one has his finger curled over his lips & up under his nosw. 6 is pinching her chin

I found those very interesting, so I looked up some body language sites. I'll put together a few things that stood out, their meanings, and give a link when I'm done with my notes.

Nurmi sounds rude and argumentative when he objects. Seems to be stalling again comparing the journal to the exhibit.

JM looks impatient.

10 looking into the gallery during sidebar. Stares at JA's side for about 10-15 seconds and then does the same to TA's side.

9 looks pizzed

Nurmi is mad and slammed his pen down

9 looks deep in thought while reading the journal entry

12-14 are hard to read. Not giving much expression right now.

11 really slouched down.

She is insane!!

JA looks down during sidebars. She seems to be looking down and up more today and not so much at JM as she did on Thursday.

2 slumped down in his chair and is holding his head up with his hand.

Uh-oh... dirty look from JA's scary friend sitting in front of me. I let out a little scoff at one of her answers and then felt like coughing, so I cleared my throat. I think it made the scoff come out more pronounced and she gave me a really nasty look. OOPS!! That was my one reaction slip!!

Page 3

15 gives of a military vibe. He seems stubborn.

Murder JA said "That's Correct." NO OBJECTION. I don't remember what the exact context of this part was, but it stood out to me that he used the word murder and she still answered. Nurmi didn't object either. The first instance of 2.

14 keeps taking his glasses off & rubbing his eyes

Lots of notes taken during the ?'s about her "flashback" during the murder

"I don't know if he was angry when he grabbed my wrists. I was frozen with fear." BS LIAR!

Banging his head on the door? Wth? He went upstairs and she WENT AFTER HIM.

TriColor, 3, & 4 looks at JM, then JA... back and forth for ? & A (Or kinda an A)

16 has her whole body turned towards JA. She looks at her the whole time. Maybe it's because I had just heard JD talk about "navel intelligence" or whatever, but that made me think maybe she's connecting with JA. I hope I'm wrong!

Heads up, folks - I have it on good authority that the whole gang is terrorizing some poor bartender. If you're near down town Phoenix watch for police helicopter activity. Doubt if there will be any coherent updates for some time.

Terrorizing? What? Juan the Bartender LOVED us!! :great:

Page 4

14 swiveling back and forth in his chair. Looking around at the ceiling.

*Talking about choking (BS cough) incident at this point*

JA's body seems to be turned more towards the jury instead of facing JM. She's hard to see, but it looks like she's looking down or up more than directly at anyone.

"Called MM about the choking"

JM says MM said he didn't remember it. - Objection Sidebar

JA looking down

JM does not come across as agressive in real life. It seems more animated on TV. It might be because I can't see his face, but he's coming off direct... or he's trying to be direct and she won't let him. Anyway, he doesn't seem as loud in there as he does on TV.

She is so frustrating!! Answer his dang question!

MM never saw the bruises? Phone call vs. seeing her? I was a little confused at this point.

She admitted to memorizing dates, etc. based on info she was given to review!!!! Holy carp! *This was on the side, so I'm not sure at what point this happened. I have to go back and re-watch this.

Page 5

8 keeps rubbing his forehead and is looking down

14 appears to be sleeping

7 is looking at JA a lot, but has his fingers over his lips.

18 rubbing his chin

14 swiveling again.. falls asleep / wakes up for video / falls asleep

11 still slumped so low I can barely see him

The murder was not your responsibility... "That's not what I'm saying" The second time JM used the word murder and no objection. Whoa - need to rewatch that too.

Smiling mug shot video time!!

Quite a few jurors look down after the video and take notes. TriColor raised her eyebrows when JA said "Smile and say Cheese" Quite a few of them look rather disgusted. Very slight expressions, but they're there.

6 takes a ton of notes after this

She gave specifics during direct, but her brain is "scrambled" for the cross. Hmm. How convenient for her!!

K folks, that's all I wrote. There were so many of them doing the fingers over their lips, tapping their lips, rubbing their chins, etc. that I had to look it up... LOVED what I read. :)

<snipped for space>

Before court, Tanisha came over to the spectator waiting area with a baggie full of ribbons for Travis and the courtwatchers who had been there previously swarmed her. She ran out quickly but hugged each and every person who approached her.

I'm just catching up on this thread, but the above post brings tears to my eyes!!! Thank you so much for sharing this ~ seems she gets a lot of flack for her look in the courtroom and that upsets me! I'm glad you shared such a wonderful observation and maybe can change a few minds!!
Also, sometimes its hard to tell who is there for JA and who is there for TA so it's nice to know the majority of peeps are TEAM TRAVIS!! ♥

Thank you so much for posting your notes! I was so disappointed that so many WSers were there and nothing was posted earlier. I've been waiting all day to hear what everyone thought/felt in the courtroom. Thanks for being our eyes and ears in the courtroom! It's greatly appreciated!! Your jury description was fantastic as well as your notes!!!
