A thought that came to mind. Wouldn't someone in a NY hospital have already leaked that she was there? I'm thinking the silence is because she's been taken somewhere private for her family to be with her?

Here's a link with a nice pic of her two boys. So handsome.

Thank you for posting that photo. The older boy looks so much like his grandmother, Vanessa Redgrave.

The people, who spoke only on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to reporters, declined to describe Ms. Richardson’s condition before or during the flight, other than to say it was very serious and that her family was highly distressed. They said the plane had arrived in New York by Tuesday evening, but declined to say where Ms. Richardson was being treated.

Mr. Neeson was seen crouched inside an ambulance beside his wife on Tuesday afternoon at Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal, as she lay heavily wrapped in blankets with tubes around her face.

I hope she is okay too, I've been checking in all day and reading the updates. For the life of me I'm having a hard time visualizing how she could have gotten a significant closed head injury while skiing. I have never been so I don't know what slopes are like.

I used to ski when I was younger. People fall all the time, usually it doesn't lead to anything at all. Body collisions and collisions with trees are the accidents that kill. The first time my son went snowboarding he was body slammed by grown man that lost control. My son did a summersault in the air from the impact. No ski patrol was called or anything. My son has no interest in getting on the slopes again.

So I'm kinda confused over Natasha taking a little spill on a beginners run, not hitting anyone or anything, but ski patrol was called and they and her instructor escort her to her room? Made her sign a release for not seeking medical treatment? Ski resorts are busy and ski patrol is not summond for an insignificant fall. They are usually called if someone can't move. There had to be something about her fall that alarmed everyone. JMO of course.

The below snippet is interesting:

It is also possible that she suffered a torn artery in the neck, which would produce similar symptoms but would potentially be more lethal, Black said. The situation could also be more severe if she had any inherent problems before the accident, such as a tendency to not clot well or an arteriovenous malformation in the brain -- basically a tangle of blood clots -- that could tear apart in an accident and cause bleeding.

That's something I've been wondering about. My son, at 9 years old, suffered a stroke due to a venous malformation. He wasn't involved in any strenuous activity at the time that the vessels burst, he was calmly watching a program in the auditorium of his school.

It's said that Natasha suffered an injury as a result of a fall, yet she didn't collide with anything. I wonder if she didn't actually fall as a result of an underlying condition, such as burst vessel in her brain.

I've recently learned that many older people do not fall and break their hip, in reality, their hip breaks and causes them to fall. I wonder if this isn't something similar...in other words, which came fist, the brain bleed or the fall?

That's a good question and I've been wondering that myself.

Chilly Willy, is your son okay now? I hope so.

Same here. I wonder if Natasha has a prior brain condition that was unknown
and surfaced when this happened. I neer knew I had 3 brain tumors or that I had neuro tube malformation until by accident when I was 50 years old...........I'm very lucky to be living at the moment..............could be what has happened. I feel so very sad for everyone. It is an extreme shock, 1 day healthy, the next to be dying.............(((hugs))))

This has really upset me. My own mom Yulia passed away three weeks ago from a similar injury. I felt someone had to have had a hand in her death because it was so sudden and quick. She was in her early 40s. It wasn't a bad fall, and she was even checked out by paramedics. It wasnt until a few hours later she collapsed and by the time they got her to the hospital she was also brain dead and on a breathing tube.

This kind of thing can happen. Its no mystery. It saddens me to see it happen all over again to someone else. It doesnt have to be from skiing, etc. You dont have to be taking any risks etc. I didn;t understand it or want to believe it (and I have suffered severe head trauma so I know first hand how it works).

I'm so sorry about your mother.

They were reporting from outside she and Liam's upper west side apt on the local news this morning and they said she was at home with her family but on life support and that they were planning on taking her off in the comfort of her own home.

I hope it isn't true. She is so young.

Oh Carla I'm so sorry!

Carla what did the doctors say had happened to cause this?

Carla,

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother passing. I'm sure it is very hard to understand why someone so young would suddenly die.

My gosh Carla I am really sorry you lost your mom so suddenly. I think that is harder than having to deal with the ordeal of a disease or old age - to have them taken so abruptly is so hard to reconcile.

I hope you have a strong support system to lean on. We are always here at WS.

(((Carla))) How awful to lose your mom so unexpectedly. She was so young!

thanks y'all. actually its pretty simple... you start bleeding and swelling in your skull and the blood displaces the brain. in my mothers case, her brain shifted side ways (bleeding was on one side) and down, so her brain started to push through the bottom of her skull with swelling. It was fast aparently. From the time she collapsed and got to the Dr and was on the ventillator she was "gone". The next week was just her deteriorating.

The surgeons/doctors told me that when the breathing tube is removed, some patients continue to breathe (poorly) on their own for some period of time. They can require nursing home care. In my moms case she passed within a few minutes. I would hope Ms. Richardson would pass quickly. I can see taking her home (both to the US and to her apartment). I know people want her to recover, but if she has that diagnosis, she can't. Letting her pass is the natural thing to do. IMHO
