"All we reported to the family is that we had information through our investigation that puts [Wood] in the Grand Bay area or south Mobile County at or around same time [Holland] is committing suicide,” Levy said. "We don’t have any reason to believe that Brittney is not alive and we are continuing to investigate this as missing person.”

So, in order to place Brittney in the Grand Bay area at the same time Donnie is committing suicide, LE must have something other than a cell phone ping. Since her cell phone battery is in Donnie's truck
. :phone:

Last paragraph bolded by me.

That's interesting.

I hope it's not the word of one her maternal family members who are just known for being reliable, upstanding citizens. /sarcasm/ :pullhair:

I think this entire family knows exactly where Brit is!
I think she was sent away!
LE has said Brit is not a VICTIM of the sex abuse. They believe she is alive.
She Hung out with Uncle Donny and was very close with her Brother the protector, there is no way she didn't know what was happening. She left on her own as I see it to avoid arrest or testifying.
All JMO

I think she is alive!

I'll say this... Donnie was shot with Brittneys gun. I have my own opinion of who shot him

~Team Brittney~

Me too. The battery; an additional setup. Early on didn't MWH talk about specific text messages on BW phone? Then those disappeared. So did or does she have BW's phone? She knows what happened to both of them. MOO

The investigators are calling it a 'recovery case' - 40 seconds mark in the video. They do not believe Brittney is alive.
LE says she was a victim.
Investigators, along with Brittney's mother, believe the missing teen was a victim herself. In fact, authorities believe Brittney was one of the only victims who knew that other children were being abused by numerous relatives.

You have no ideal how bad i hope you are right i hope brit will come home and have a chance at a better life. But my question is and i wonder all the time too if she did run where do you think she would go? Do they have family out of state or ppl that she knew?

Wasn't it said that a few days after brit vanished that her cell phone was turned back on?

Thread 1, Page 3 you will find the discussion about that.
I believe it was a matter of her cell ringing sometimes, and
other times going straight to voice mail - for whatever reason.
I don't believe her cell was turned back on after the last ping in the
Grand Bay area.

We won't give up on you Brittney, not only for you, but for Peyton. TEAM BRITTNEY!

They will go down.. only a matter of time.

Dang.... that took some digging!

Remember this other cryptic statement?

"We believe her cell phone went to that area [Styx River],” Lowery said. "We don’t have any information to believe she was with the cell phone at the time.”

and then...
Lowery also said the investigation determined the cell phone was later used in south Mobile County...

There was also this statement, though not from LE.

Disaster & Victim Services Chaplain Tony Dickey said 19-year-old Brittney Wood's cell phone last pinged a phone at a Travel Centers of America truck stop located in Grand Bay.
Dickey said the signal came at 1:40 a.m. on May 31st; the morning after her disappearance.

"Based on their (Mobile Police Department) investigation, that was the last location the cell phone was being used," Dickey said.

I have never seen my cellphone battery to know if there are any scratches on it. In my opinion, I doubt most people could recognize their own cellphone battery let alone recognize a battery that belonged to another person.

I am interested in knowing who found the battery. Since it doesn't appear LE investigated DH's alleged suicide, I really doubt LE searched his vehicle and found this battery. So we would at least have a chain of custody issue with the battery. The battery could have been planted for all we know.

Is it possible Brittney's fingerprints were found on the battery? I would hope LE has something more than Chessie's word that some scratches indicate the battery belongs to Brittney. Really?

Omgoodness - I guess Brittney had a magical phone that and could work without a battery.

Yup. How does a phone ping without a battery? So Donnie killed BW, disposed of her somewhere (all the while her phone is pinging and she's texting), took her phone, went to the river to kill himself, but first removed BW's cell phone battery.

What the whaaa??

Wasn't it said that BW had a brand new phone? Does anyone else remember that?

Exactly. I can't wait to see the news report on Monday. I want to see how Chessie explains how Brittney's cell phone can ping without a battery. It becomes obvious that someone is altering the truth.

We really don't have an eye witness that Donnie even picked up Brittney other than Chessie saying so. Let's make a list of all her fibs with the latest being that she recognized the cell phone battery by it's scratches.

The gun with two bullets was doozy. Wanting to spend the reward money to bail out Derek. Not having any contact with Baby P. Not knowing Brittney was molested as a child. Showing up to support Wendy at her hearing. Saying Derek escaped his bond because he wanted to see his brother when he was actually at a meth house. That Brittney loved to walk 40 miles. Brittney's back pack, was it pink or was it teal? ETA Chessie knew the body in Lillian wasn't Brittney before the police did.

It's so obvious.

Wasn't it said that BW had a brand new phone? Does anyone else remember that?

Yes, I remember this. IIRC, the new phone was her own. The phone she had before happened to be connected to WH and DH. I think Brittney may have been on a shared cellphone plan with them before she got her own phone. Much was discussed about her new phone not having GPS.

From Zeaux, a verified poster:

"BW didn't have a cheap, pre-paid phone. She had been on a phone plan and had recently purchased a pre-paid sim card for that phone. Her phone had internet capability. It wasn't a throwaway phone."

Mobile PD did obtain the records of Brittney's phone pings as well as her call and text history. Her phone did not ping one time since the last ping at Grand Bay at approximately 1:47 a.m. May 31, 2012. She did not have GPS activated on her phone (within the week she disappeared she had gone to a prepaid sim card after being on a family plan and had not yet activated the gps), so it only pinged when it was in use. There were no pings between Styx River and Grand Bay in that 1.5 hour period up to the last ping. Then nothing. Anything you may have heard about her phone being turned on about a week after she went missing is erroneous information. It has been confirmed by the phone carrier that they initiated action on her account that caused the change in the ring/voicemail.
