Extensive, including previous kidnapping charges, and previous escape attempts. A violent and scary guy.

Lauderdale County CO and the capital murder suspect are missing

I share the concern about someone in that parking lot at the wrong moment, if they didn't have a car stashed there. I can't imagine he would want to be seen in public. Hard to hide a six foot six (or nine) guy and she looks petite. They're going to be very noticeable.

You’re absolutely right. But what I was thinking in my question about his background was—has he been a solo criminal, or does he have some sort of criminal network of people that might help him?

“Video security footage from the area where Vicki White's car was found has not shown the two getting into another vehicle.”

A very well-planned escape, avoiding all cameras? Would other security cameras focus on the exits in a way that would at least narrow down the possible cars?

“Video security footage from the area where Vicki White's car was found has not shown the two getting into another vehicle.”

I wonder if they also have video of them getting out of the vehicle they left in, or if that was also outside the view of cameras.

One of the wanted posters detailed his tattoos and I'm guessing yes, at least with other cons. Also, there is the mysterious hit on the woman he wrote the letter about that landed him in this jail awaiting trial. If it was a hit, who paid for it? Have we heard?

Very scared for Vicki. Not matter how this happened, I think she's in grave danger.

You are correct, and it’s a very good question.

If her personal vehicle is missing—that answers that question. (She could have left it there, and taken an Uber to work?)

What was the extent of his criminal background? Would he have friends or family who’d be willing to help get him out?

My biggest concern is that there might have been someone in the parking lot who lives alone and hasn’t been reported missing yet.

I feel like if her personal vehicle was missing, LE would have included that information in the alert, as that would make it much easier for members of the public to help locate them. If her personal vehicle isn't missing, which I don't think it is given LE's silence on their possible mode of travel, the question becomes––whose vehicle are they in?

Given CW's history of armed carjackings and kidnapping, I wouldn't put it past him to steal a vehicle (potentially with someone inside). After all, he's already in jail for capital murder, so what's one more body under his belt going to do? MOO.

Update 5:56 p.m. EDT April 30: Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said in a statement that the evidence in the disappearance of Alabama corrections officer Vicki White and capital murder suspect Casey Cole White is pointing toward the deputy helping the inmate escape.

“The question is: did she do so willingly or was she coerced into doing it by inmate White by threatening her and/or her family or other means,” Singleton said Saturday afternoon. “Our secondary focus is on investigating the escape itself.

“Indications are, since no court appearance was scheduled, that AD (assistant director) White assisted in the escape.”

O.K. I have been thinking about this case. Haven't read the article yet, to refresh my memory. I seem to recall something about an implement, hidden in a meat loaf or raw ground beef, that was to be used to aid their escape or as a weapon. (Probably the wrong case -- off to read article. Thanks!)
No you are correct. Article I linked is quite brief on the case. It was made into a Lifetime Movie.

<snip>

Also, there is the mysterious hit on the woman he wrote the letter about that landed him in this jail awaiting trial. If it was a hit, who paid for it? Have we heard?
No. After "confessing" to the murder and being transferred from prison to the Lauderdale County jail, he turned around and pleaded insanity.

"Casey Cole White was arraigned today, but not without complications.

“We got information yesterday that he had made a shank and he intended to escape today and take a hostage,” said Lauderdale County District Attorney, Chris Connolly.

He says that they found two shanks in the shower belonging to white before the arraignment. During the arraignment, White pleaded not guilty to both charges by reason of insanity."

Not that it would help anything now, but I wonder if surveillance cameras in that shopping center might show Vicki's car around there previous to the escape, checking it out for cameras or whatnot. Unless she habituated that particular shopping area anyway.

I haven’t seen anything about the supposed hit, either. Except, that his confession was credible, because he told things that had not been made public. Could he have learned them from someone else at his prison? Or, did he kill her for some other reason?

Is it possible that, having nothing to lose, he confessed just to get moved to this jail? Why? Maybe because the ‘con network’ said that this was a poorly run place where he’d find it easier to escape? Maybe someone even told him that there was someone working there who’d be susceptible to his charm?

all this my wild speculation

I am also wondering what specific type of car she was transporting CW in. Was it a 'regular' car owned by the corrections department? Prisoner transport van? Or was it a police car?

The reason I'm curious is because most police cars (and I'm assuming prisoner transport vans as well) nowadays have dash cameras and GPS in them.

2013 Ford Taurus police car.

Edit: "The 2013 Ford Taurus patrol car the corrections official used to transport the inmate was found at about 11 a.m. CDT at a shopping center in Florence, AL.com reported."

Your theory makes perfect sense CharlestonGal

It surely does make sense , @CharlestonGal -- IMO, they surely had been planning this for a while. Her "day before" resignation seals it IMO -- and we here at WS are certainly not the only ones to think it (d'oh) -- it has to be collusion between the two. I guess he just charmed her somehow or vice versa.
They better run far and hide as much as possible -- I don't see their probable plot and their escape being ignored by any number of people for a lot of reasons.
This one will be interesting to watch. I do worry a bit about

Or I have it completely backwards and VW was friends with CR, found an opportunity for revenge, kidnapped CW and took him out back and shot him.

jmo
This works for me as well. One of these two may well lose in a big way, probably sooner than later. Or not.
Damm, this is wackeroo stuff, isn't it?!

Is it just me or does anyone else find it odd that it's now been 24 hours since news broke of this escape, yet not a single friend or family member of VW has made any appeal or any statement whatsoever? It's weird. Really weird. jmo

I was thinking the same thing. Is she married? Does she have kids? Siblings? I haven't been able to find any social media for her either.

ETA: It's also bizarre that LE uses both 'Vicki' and 'Vicky'––the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spells her name 'Vicky' but in their initial FB post about the 'Blue Alert' Lauderdale Co. Sheriff's Department spells her name 'Vicki'––does she use both spellings?

I can't find a trace of her anywhere. No social media, no pictures (other than the old one released by the sheriff). Nothing.

Edit: I haven't even been able to find out if White is a maiden name or married name. If it's a married name she could easily be "not related" to him, but know him very well through family. imo
