Alot of the names I didn't recognize...one surprising one to me though was that of Mia Zapata. I have seen her case on City Confidential and a couple of other true-crime shows.

I hate that this has happened to such a talented, promising, young lady. I am a recovering addict (8 years clean), and know that it so hard to just say no, and to mean it. Nobody can make you do it, it's a personal decision to get out of that lifestyle, and it is hard as hades to do and can take multiple attempts before it "sticks", if it ever does "stick". My thoughts are with her parents, who tried so hard to help her get clean, and I am hoping that she finally has peace. I guess there is a chance that this wasn't an overdose, but really, with all of the damage she has done to herself, drugs will be involved in some way. IMO. Thank you, Amy, for the flashes of brilliance we heard from you. I wish that you could have been happier with yourself :(

Amy before and after drugs...if these pics don't break your heart then you don't have one:

Can I just say that I hate the requisite twitter celebrity reactions to someone's death? Vapid and barely literate. Find Kelly Clarkson's. Ick.

tabloid angle shaping up:
Tragic Amy Winehouse 'heartbroken' over split from Reg Traviss as she dies aged 27 (Sunday Mail)
---
Last night, as Winehouse's body was taken to a local mortuary, her heartbroken mother Janis admitted she believed her daughter's death had been 'only a matter of time' when they met just 24 hours before she died.

'She seemed out of it. But her passing so suddenly still hasn't hit me,' she said.

Instead, she said, she preferred clinging for comfort to Amy's own parting words at the end of an enjoyable day they had spent together on Friday.

As mother and daughter kissed on the doorstep Amy told her, 'I love you, Mum'.

'They are the words I will always treasure and always remember Amy by', she said.

My deepest sympathy to those who loved Amy. Especially her family.

Whatever pain that created her addictions is what killed her IMHO. The drugs were just a way she punished herself and tortured herself. That is my thinking on addiction. Even though the addiction to drugs is physical and mental there is an fundamental pain that drug addicts are dealing with---and Amy must have been in excruciating pain.

Rest in peace sweet one. My fav by her is a remix called Veronica it's upbeat and happy.

im so sorry on top of her struggles, the heartbreak of a split on top of that..recent pics of her looked like she may be coming around, gained healthy weight..i was so hoping she could make a comeback...if britney spears could have a "comeback" after such shocking behavior, then amy surely did deserve one too..and no offense, amy had more talent in her pinky than brit has in whole body. her mom clinging to a happy last memory "i love you mum" my heart breaks for not only her, but her folks and her fans

I'm saddened by this ;( she was so young and talented ;( I felt sorry for her, actually.

I do agree so young and so talented. I was not shocked and yet I was shocked that poor child was a tortured soul,
all her songs are really sad. I felt sorry for her too, and in this song I thing she wrote her story,. :(

i was so shocked to hear this:( I never really followed her songs but there was something about her that I liked when I saw her. I liked the song Rehab but just thought it was a funny song she wrote. Guess we should've taken it seriously:anguish:
I really feelsorry for her parents and those she was close to and loved her:(
That song was beautiful.
R I P Ms Winehouse

was listening to one of my fave songs on youtube and decided to look up the lyrics...ironically I found it fitting of poor Amy...
If you have never heard this song it is a MUST:

Big Empty by Stone Temple Pilots:

drivin' faster in my car
falling farther from just what we are
smoke a cigarette and lie some more
these conversations kill
falling faster in my car

time to take her home
her dizzy head is conscience laden
time to take a ride
it leaves today no conversation
time to take her home
her dizzy head is conscience laden
time to wait too long
to wait too long
these conversations kill

to much walkin', shoes worn thin
too much trippin' and my soul's worn thin
time to catch a ride
it leaves today, her name is what it means
to much walkin', shoe's worn thin

You really can't compare her with talentless pop divas and the current parade of autotuned, fashion challenged zombies. You just can't.

In recent pictures she looked pretty and alot better
Not as skinny and she had some color . Nails done and such
Not like in the bad old Blake days - he was no good for her at all .
I hoped after the divorced that she would work out her drugs problems .
I do feel bad ..27 is too young to die of anything .

newspapers have obits pre-written for all public figures & update them continually

RIP Amy

From working at 5 papers I know we have obits pre-written for elderly public figures and those who have a tenuous grip on life. The rest we create on the fly.

Amy Winehouse is dead. Sadly, everyone saw it coming and could do nothing to stop it.

Twenty-Seven Members of the "27" Club
Of course, the "24 Club" is pretty well-stocked
And the "26 Club" has some real quality, too
John Keats leads the "25 Club." But 27 remains the "gold standard" for tragic death

"27" is a magical age in rock. It is approximately around the time that songwriters need to learn to do consciously what they used to unconsciously, as Bob Dylan once explained regarding the change in his writing process. It is also an age that many artists never make it past.

Amy Winehouse When Asked In An Interview Where Will She Be In 10 Years Responded : Dead in a ditch, on fire.

Q: When your first album came out, someone asked where you'd be 10 years from now, and you said...

A: "Dead. Dead in a ditch, on fire."

Q: No, no. At that time, you said you imagined yourself in 10 years being a happy housewife with three kids. But some time has gone by since then, so you'd have to do some work to catch up with that now.

A: Is that a proposition?

Now, that was a funny line.

Always Loved Your Passion Amy. Rest With The Angels. You Are Most Deserving Love. ~
