I advocate for everyone I know to install an alarm system in their house. I'm lucky enough to have a great one....I dropped a plastic cup on the floor in my kitchen the other morning, and I guess the decibels were high enough to set it off immediately. Monitoring service called right away. I'm so grateful for that peace of mind...make sure to have a decibel/sound system, along with a motion detector for when you are not home! =D

The peace of mind I have, when I walk into my home and know that no one is lurking anywhere within is worth every penny!

I know this isn't applicable to Anne's case if she did indeed let her dogs out or it wasn't armed...just saying.
 
Was there any survelliance photos deemed from credit card debit taken after Anne was attacked. The hinky for me is jealous rage. How would a drug addict, when no one in the neighborhood mentioned any strange cars, persons in the area, know Anne unlocked her doors, oh and just as easily just let the 2 dogs out!

In addition, I heard on Fox News that Anne's organs will be donated to person's in need.

I read that the tapes from the gas station were turned over to LE but that is the extent of my knowledge. I really hope that they show a clear pic of the monster that did this to her. I think it is highly possible that she was targeted by a stalker.

I did not know about the organ donation thank you! In the midst of this tragedy Anne can save the life of another, that is a beautiful thing
 
Was the community she lived in gated, so that the person would have to have gone through a gate or over a fence?

However, I am extremely careful when I'm out in public to be aware of people watching me, and I enforce knowing where my children are at all times. I also make sure all my doors are locked at night before I go to bed. I don't even leave downstairs windows open because we don't have a dog to wake us up if someone tried to break in.

My m-i-l told me that she heard on the news that every single bone in Anne's face and head was broken and her hand was crushed. It sure sounds like rage to me, not some random murder.

Rage, okay...but I was reading another thread on here about some sicko who kept beating in someone's door, scared the crap out of the owners, they tried to tell him to go....but he kept trying to get in. ( IIRC, the victim shot the crazy SOB.) Drug crazed nut, perhaps. Still, walking dogs at night is going to bother me for some time. I pray for the family, and all who love her. May this sicko get SWIFT justice on earth. Then, it's in God's hands.
 
Bear with me, y'all. I don't feel good about blogging this, because I think it's kind of out there, but it's bugging me. I wouldn't mind people either shooting holes in this scenario or letting me know if it seems logical.

A reader at the True Crime Report left a comment that prompted this idea.

A couple of skinheads have been arrested and accused of plotting to assassinate Obama, but before that, they planned to go on a killing spree. They were going to focus on African Americans, but let me tell you -- racially-motivated gang members will go after anyone.

If you read the affidavit at the Smoking Gun, which I linked above, you see that one of the guys, Daniel Cowart, traveled to West Helena, Arkansas on October 20 to pick up the other dude, Paul Schlesselman.

Cowart drove down to W. Helena from Bells, TN, which is about 25 min. from the larger city of Jackson.

A drive from Bells to W. Helena takes a little over 2 hours. A drive from Bells to Little Rock would tack on 2 more hours.

Here's what I'm getting at -- this guy made his roadtrip around the same time Anne Pressly was attacked. Normally that'd be pretty tenuous, but y'all, here's the kicker -- in 2004, Anne Pressly was hired to work at Jackson, TN TV station WBBJ. Found the article about that in a May, 2004 Jackson Sun. A quote from that article (which I don't think is available online -- I have a paid subscription to an article database): "Christopher has added Anne Pressly to the staff as a general assignment reporter.

"Pressly recently graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis with a political science degree. But she knew early on that television news was what she wanted to do.

"'I can't remember when I wanted to do anything different,' she said. 'I don't have any brothers or sisters. Growing up, I needed to know what was going on. At the dinner table, my parents talked politics or news of the day. So it was really regular for me early on to watch the news and have something to bring to the table.'"

The article went on to give Pressly's background, including her time at Rhodes in Memphis.

Here's the thing -- I don't know how long Pressly was at WBBJ. The way TV works, she might have taken the job and still been gone in a month or two if KATV offered something better (ETA: She did only work at WBBJ for a month). It's conceivable she even commuted between the two, if one wasn't a full-time demand at first.

But I wouldn't have taken this theoretical skinhead link to Pressly's death seriously at all if I hadn't noticed that she had some sort of connection to WBBJ. That links her to one of the would-be assassins. Working at KATV in Ark. is a tenuous link to the other skinhead.

You can see, I think, why I hesitate to put this in a blog post, but why I can't quite ignore it. I decided I'd just throw it out there and have y'all pick holes in it, if necessary. Just be gentle, please.

ETA: I think Paul would have been more likely to target Anne since he was more local to her. Viewed her on TV or maybe even met her. I wonder if Anne was involved in any high profile minority/black causes?

That is what I am wondering. She seemed so giving and well read that it wouldn't surprise me. She was someone that emanated warmth so this could distress someone who is angry ...like a skinhead. I continue to believe she was targeted.

That's an excellent question. The fact she's a media personality and her attack/death would get attention is a given (I hate even saying that). But it seems there would have to be more -- as in her covering a story like you bring up, or something that would make LE believe she was killed by a minority.

I'm not convinced yet that this whole plan was legit or at least remotely well planned (I'm hard-headed I guess). If their target was Obama it seems they would have started with him instead of taking the chance of getting arrested for other murders before getting their main target.

But putting that aside, I've read various things about starting a race war (turner diaries, etc) due to being a sociology major, and this kind of thing would work (in theory) as long as there was something that tied her to a minority group. It seems the first choice would be leaving some sort of clue / evidence making LE believe a minority attacked her, but I absolutely wouldn't rule it out if she'd been involved in or covered minority issues.

(Again please note my research regarding this type of thing was for solely for academic purposes!!!)



ETA: SS people in these parts (TN, NC etc) actually wear the ski masks because of the cold - not often mind you, but they are worn)
 
I read it, but I don't see it being connected. They were into guns in a huge way. Everything they planned included a gun or guns. I don't see them beating her savagely plus stabbing her instead of using a gun. Makes no sense to me. I also think she would be the least likely of their victims, too. Their crimes were centered around race and she would have represented one of their own.

Sorry, Steve. It just doesn't gel with me. I am more interested in the other female anchors around the country that have been targeted. I believe one in TX and another one in Iowa.

I would like to say that Walmart and various places should have a policy in place when two men come in to purchase ski masks and nylon rope that they are required to notify LE. Isn't it obvious they aren't cold?! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out these purchases alone aren't a sign of anything, but put them together...and they sure look like tools for a kidnapping, robbery, or something sinister. Makes it seem like they have an idea who he is and are watching him, trying to get evidence or he is in jail on some other charge now.

Maconrich, if there is a ton of snow on the ground or really cold...yes. How many people buy them with Nylon rope tho? This was my point. I think rope and/or duct tape should be a pretty suspicious purchase with a ski mask.

ETA: oops was typing SS. NO nylon rope along with the masks isn't a good sign (add to it dudes with a lot of tats, ammo etc)!! You know, they also sell those ski masks in FL and other than a tourist getting one to use back up north I just can't see why they sell them down there at all?? :(
 
Thanks, Colette~ Sounds like they have the photo analyzed to me. Now they are looking for a specific person from that.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Police said they have information they hope will lead them to the killer of a television anchorwoman who died days after a brutal attack in her home. Police said they do not yet know the suspect's identity, and would not say what evidence they have linking the person to the attack on Anne Pressly, 26, who died Saturday.

"We do have an individual. The suspect has not been arrested," police spokesman Sgt. Cassandra Davis said.

Reports last week said one of Pressly's credit cards was used Oct. 20 at a service station near downtown Little Rock. Investigators have said she may have been a robbery victim, and that her job did not appear to have had anything to do with the attack. Pressly's purse was missing the morning of the attack.

Davis said police wouldn't comment on evidence obtained so far but added, "We hope that we will be able to make an arrest from the information that we have received."

No. No reason for ski masks to be sold in Florida, but I guess they do sell or they wouldn't be on the shelves. :eek:
