Glad I noticed your post. Agree with you totally and was going to submit again until I saw this post.

Kim was first submitted back in 2009 and I've yet to see her on the rule-outs. Her tests are complete, but I really wonder if they're in CODIS. Here's her Namus, side-by-side comparison and information again. Does anyone know for sure if Kim's been automatically ruled out or if her DNA tests are being held in state records?


Kimberly was last seen in 1980 at the age of 16. She was 68" tall at that time and was last seen in Venice, California in the company of an unknown male.

Hi - This is my first post so forgive me if I have posted incorrectly.
I've been very touched by this case. I found the following girl missing at age 15 since January 1, 1980 from Venice, Los Angeles, California. Her name is Kimberly Ann Kahler. She would have been 26 in 1991. I don't know how to post a link to side by side photos, but if you check JD morgue pictures and compare it to the center picture on the doenetwork, I think there is a remarkable likeness. Her DNA is in CODIS - does that mean it has already been checked against Jane Doe's DNA in CODIS?

Awesome, can't wait. It should take a few months, right? I don't see a strong resemblance between the two but of course in a way I hope there is a match so there is closure for this women's family who has been gone over twenty years. I thought the girl who was a lot shorter looked like her, but usually women stop growing before boys if they hit puberty at an early age. I stopped growing when I was only 12. I am 5'7. Same with all of my friends. Anyway, too bad I'm in Canada so I can't be of much help but will continue looking for matches if these don't work out

Whoa, I don't even remember submitting her! I checked two e-mails I no longer use and unfortunately, I couldn't find any e-mails which were related to this submission, sorry.

Maybe just e-mail that general contact provided? I tried Googling her name along with "LASD" and only a few hits with a telephone number but no e-mail. I guess I could try calling the phone number but not sure what to say. I wonder what came of the DNA which she said was being processed...

Ok, I just called the LASD and was put on hold. The receptionist seemed confused when I asked for Diane Harris. Looking at the NamUs page, Melissa Henderson is now the main contact for Kimberley Kahler. I will phone back and ask to speak with her. Wish me luck.

Called both the LAPD and the contact listed for El Dorado Jane Doe. Left messages as no one answered; the lead investigator in Kahler's case is out of office for the next few weeks so I left her partner a message. I hope they call me back and let me know. It's interesting to note that Kahler is reported to have a scar on her top, upper left lip and the Doe has something on her top, upper lip in the post mortem photo. Could be just a cut, but who knows; weird coincidence, in any case.

I agree about the nose, but it's best to submit it and be sure.

Anyway, the Arkansas coroner contact said he'd call me back this afternoon and never did.

I've somewhat wondered about the end of her nose as well, but it's not enough to rule her out in my mind.

NamUs lists her estimated age being between 20 - 30 years old.

The thing is, is both myself and another user submitted her and were told DNA comparing her to the Doe was being processed. This was in 2009. If she has her DNA in Codis, I'd assume they'd run it against all possible matches automatically.

That's how it's supposed to work, but there seem to be a lot of things that can go wrong and cause a comparison not to be done.
