I think time was posting it more for getting the topic started and less because of the news source. The article doesn't make any wild claims, actually. It just raises the question, as many of us have on our own, about this topic. If you don't like the news source, kbl, you don't have to read it or comment about your disdain for the source, others might view that as an attack. Just skip over it, if you so choose and don't comment about it. I don't mean this as a personal attack on you, kbl, just trying to help you understand. That's all.

Thanks, Time. This has bothered me, too. I instantly thought of the Fritzl case in Austria when JC was discovered and automatically thought about the possibility of more pregnancies and what might have happened to them. I initially thought PG might have been trying to create his own harem, I'm not so sure now. But the absence of any boys and only 2 known pregnancies didn't sit right with me at first.
Now, though, I'm more of the opinion that we would probably know by now if there were more births as we do in the Austrian case. Unless, JC decided that she wanted this part of the horror kept private, as well. If so, I guess only time will tell, if at all. Also, it is possible they put JC on the pill and planned the 2 girls, Nancy could have got them for herself but gave them to JC, instead. Not safe, but not impossible.

I thought the exact same thing. Just because they didn't find remains in the yard doesn't rule it out. In the Fritzl case he incinerated the deceased baby. As grisly as it is, I can see PG doing something like that because there's less evidence, so it is safer for him.

And how do we know Jaycee hasn't told LE there were more children? If they're dead then it's hardly a pressing issue to go to the media with. They may be waiting until they process all the evidence from the house and backyard prison, then file additional charges.

There is also the possibility of her having had miscarriages. Living in conditions like that, having poor nutrition, and constantly being in fear would certainly be reason enough.

did the firemen check out the backyard or did they just warn him a fire is a code violation?

I've seen it mentioned that it could have been fires caused by the manufacturing of meth, but I don't think that that is what caused any fires because there were no arrests made that I'm aware of. It's usually very obvious to fire investigators and LE, especially over the last two decades, when a fire is caused by a meth lab and they would have made arrests on the spot. Unless, of course, they're "ok" with that stuff in CA.

well this is the Local LE we're talking about.
they dont invetigate his back yard about kids living in tents.
its possible if he put the fire out there before the got there, he could have snowed the firemen too. (i mean this no matter what he was burning there)

I consider her cleaning up to be part of the miracle. I know it sounds odd, but there are some things about people that you have to experience or see first hand in order to believe.
I have experienced a drop in the bucket of captivity (as compared to Jaycee's stay). I don't disclose details, after 11 years, I still can't.
But, I can say from experience, that the ability to pick up an item and place it in a trash bag without explicit step by step instruction is a good sign. Some people in a situation like Jaycee's (although there really is no reference point for a case as long running as hers) would and do shut down completely. They will follow orders and function, but at the level of a child, having to be instructed on every step of the process. This is one of the things covered in resocialization. The logical order of "what comes next" can be forgotten, when the entire logical order of a person's universe is turned on it's ear.
The fact that she functions above this level and does not have to be taught step by step is a huge positive, IMO.

Yes this was talked about very early on, and we considered that he may have only wanted girls for the obvious reasons, and may have killed boys if any, we also considered that perhaps her body went through so much that it had shut down from a physical shock while staying alert for her daughters.In one of the earlier reports LE had said she had experienced unbearable abuse by her captor, and while we know she was repeatedly raped, we do not know if she actually delivered other children or miscarried them.
I sure understand why she would want to keep that privet.
