George Patriot Seymore, a spokesperson for Natalee Holloway's mother, Beth Holloway, told Fox News Digital that the extradition will happen within a week. “A matter of days to a week," Seymore said. "The process is underway."

"In regard to Mr. (Joran) van der Sloot, we have made a temporary relocation to the United States, because he is condemned here, and he must serve his sentence here. But since the U.S. needs him in order to face trial and the authorities told us that if he didn't get there sooner, the case against him could be dropped because the witnesses are elderly. We are contributing so he can go there to be tried and sentenced, and come back to Peru to serve his sentence here. Once he finishes his sentence in Peru, he’ll go to the U.S. to serve his corresponding sentence there," Maurate said.

From your link, same sentence ... elderly witnesses to the wire fraud? Any thoughts? Which witnesses to the lawyer meeting v.d.Sloot at the airport is elderly?

I couldn't imagine how a body could disappear on an island either until I moved to one. It is disturbing to consider, but people who aren't murdered disappear in the ocean and are never found. I would imagine somehow disposing of her in the water could have prevented her from ever surfacing or washing ashore.
100% memory, will look for links in the morning ... but I remember the area just North of the beach where v.d.Sloot and Natalee were sitting alone being a riptide current. He could have used a crab trap to weigh her down in deeper waters, or he could have swum to the riptide current and pushed her out. Weren't his runners found on the beach? One size 14 shoe, or both? Will look for links.

@otto : Here's a CNN link discussing said shoes.

Aruban authorities said Monday they were looking for a pair of size 14 tennis shoes that van der Sloot might have had on the night Holloway disappeared.

"He says he might have lost a pair of sneakers on the beach the night Natalee disappeared. That's what he claims in one of his many statements," lead police investigator Roy Tromp said.

Tromp said the suspect described the shoes as white and blue and brand new.

"He claimed he lost them in the area of Fisherman's Hut, but we're looking at other places," Tromp said, referring to a beach area near the Marriott and Holiday Inn hotels. Holloway was staying at the Holiday Inn.

v.d.Sloot is a compulsive liar who has told so many lies that no new story counts because of v.d.Sloot's confessions.

"Blanken told the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that van der Sloot’s accounts were "held together by lies and fantasy."
...

She was last seen leaving a bar with van der Sloot and brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, who all lived on the island off the coast of Venezuela. All three have been questioned repeatedly but investigators have not had enough evidence to arrest any of them, despite van der Sloot’s confessions."

Sneakers on the beach and a missing 18 year old high school student who had been partying with classmates for 4 days. Parts of v.d.Sloot's stories are true. He said that she wanted to drive by her friends to wave, she was so drunk she was throwing up, she mentioned the light house and sharks, yet the Kalpoe brothers left her on the beach with v.d.Sloot North of her hotel. Had this happened before, where the Kalpoe brothers went to Carlos n'Charlies at midnight with v.d.Sloot and left together with a young female tourist?

I've never forgotten this case. Still remember what I was doing when the story first broke when Natalee went missing. A nightmare for the Holloway family. Beth never gave up. A warrior! Has Natalee's dad Dave made a statement yet?

I remember where I was, too. My DD played many competitive tennis matches in the beautiful community of Mountain Brook.

A most vivid memory is that Beth was in Memphis when she learned her daughter was missing. She hit the interstate zooming at 10pm. Beth called the MS Highway Patrol and requested a Police escort. They immediately obliged the request and quickly led the way with blue lights flashing for the first 150 miles until the AL Highway Patrol took over and was able to lead her home.

Joran will be found guilty of extortion and wire fraud, then sentenced to the max. He'll never live as a free man again. I hope that brings a measure of solace to Natalee's loved ones.

Does anyone know if a fine can also be imposed along with his sentencing in US FED court? He's been making bank dealing cocaine while in Peruvian jail.

"Dutch national Joran van der Sloot (35), who is serving a 28 year sentence for the murder of Stephany Flores in a Peruvian jail has been sentenced to another 18 years for drug smuggling, the Telegraaf reports." https://www.dutchnews.nl/news/2023/01/convicted-killer-joran-van-der-sloot-sentenced-to-18-years-for-drugs/

My personal opinion is that Natalee was a virgin. When she rebuffed Joran's advances, he strangled her. Psychopaths typically carry a rage factor. Rage is an emotional state characterized by intense feelings of aggression, anger, and hostility. Joran could not accept Natalee telling him: No!

What a strange statement about the witnesses being elderly. Wasn't the main witness John Q Kelly? He's about 70 now, per google. Does he still make TV rounds? If it was an FBI sting you'd think it would have been well documented enough to withstand the passing of an elderly witness or 2.

"I don’t trust the judicial system in the United States at this moment," Maximo Altez, van der Sloot’s defense attorney in the 2012 murder trial for the death of Stephany Flores, said Friday.

He believes the U.S. will try to tack on homicide charges to his extortion and wire fraud case, he said. And he has not yet been able to speak with his client despite the unexpected news of his expected extradition.

"We are not fighting for Joran’s innocence, we are fighting that his rights are respected," Altez said. "We are asking for due process."

"People are not going for justice, they’re going for revenge," Altez said. "People are confusing the two as if they’re synonyms."
_-------------
"Joran is receiving a media trial," Altez said, speaking in Spanish from Peru.
----------------
"The Challapalca prison is the worst prison in the world", Altez explained. "Joran is in hell. He would go to a hell that is more comfortable."

The former FBI profiler said that Aruban authorities showed her around the island to see "different parts of the water and what currents would bring a human body back to the water" as well as which currents wouldn't.

and HEALTH CONDIT!ONS. This article mentions Kelly as the only person accompanying Joran in Ariba during the sting when he showed Kelly the house, etc.

---------
The extradition request indicated "that an additional delay in the prosecution of the case that is being pursued in the United States of America could significantly reduce the possibility of conviction, that the ages and health conditions of the key witnesses in the case would make the prosecution would be extremely difficult if it is not carried out soon," according to a March order from Peru's top court.
--------------
Van der Sloot......has been transferred from prisons in response to reports that he enjoyed privileges such as television, internet access and a cellphone, and accusations that he had threatened to kill a warden.

I don't thinl THESE people, the Flores family will allow their government to permanently "give" Joran to the USA before he does his time in Peru. jmo

Flores, 21, was killed in a Lima hotel Sunday. The suspect, Dutch Joran van der Sloot, was arrested Thursday in neighboring Chile. Van der Sloot has also long been suspected in the disappearance of an Alabama teen Natalee Holloway in Aruba, which occurred five years to the day before Flores’ murder. Robyn Gardner disappeared in Aruba and was never found either. Her companion, Gary Giordano, claims she was swept away at sea while she was snorkeling.

Otto, I was wondering the same about who the elderly witnesses are? I honestly have no clue. Greta has said there is more to come. Perhaps the elderly witnesses are a part of what’s to come?

Info about the indictment:
Greta Van Susteren

https://twitter.com/greta
@greta

It is a 2010 indictment that has been dormant for the last 13 years because he murdered and got 28 years in Peru..traditional extradition was out because Peru not want to give him up but we found a 2001 Treaty between USA and Peru (the prosecutors did not find) and it allows for a ‘loaner’ extradition…

Prominent Peruvian newspaper describes the activities of joran and spouse, that got him transferred to the bad prison in 2014 where evidently he wouldn't have online access (whatsapp) that he did to commit these crimes in prison. The first paragraph is a google translation which is much better than I could do. $350K.
----------

Dutchman Joran Van der Sloot, sentenced to 28 years in prison for the death of Peruvian Stephany Flores, is being investigated, together with his wife, Lady Figueroa Uceda, by the Lima Asset Laundering Prosecutor for allegedly laundering $350,000 .

Greta Van Susteren has made several comments on her Twitter page about the case. She also accuses the US Netherlands Embassy of “looking the other way” and “not being friends of Beth Holloway.” Interesting.
