SO it was recognising the quilt that lead the caller to call Crimestoppers.

As an ex NT resident - there would be a variety of nationalities for Doctors and Dentists doing remote work throughout the NT.
Family has done dentistry up there and they do gold fillings. Lots of reasons to use gold.

I think the message back to the family could be innocently enough delivered. Karlie might have expressed to someone she didn't want anything to do with her family and eventually that person is asked if they know where she is and they pass on what she said earlier, unaware she is no longer safe and off on her own accord.

Karlie doesn't look happy in that Marion photo, but thank god that was taken to narrow down the timeline a bit and get the picture of Khandalyce in the dress.

I assume a family member would have had to give some DNA to confirm their identities? That might explain the FB page going down, if they were waiting on results at that point but knew about the quilt and dress and had seen the facial reconstruction. It isn't a great likeness but it's in the vicinity.

4 calls apart? You would have to think the first caller made contact with the second caller etc.

From what has been reported it seems that as of 2 weeks ago (some 3 months or so since the suitcase was prominently found) the police had no idea at all who she was.

Which makes me curious why the Facebook page "Please help find Karlie stevenson"was taken down over a month ago.

Seeing that quilt nice and clean with a well looked after little girl is heart breaking , I'm so happy they can be together at last..

Apparently (according to The Australian) the FB page went down a month ago although the calls to crimestoppers only occurred 2 weeks ago.

Our little "Angel", the suitcase girl:

Wow!
When I saw this sweet little angel's face and dress on my fb feed, and read the headline, it took my breathe away and gave my goosebumps. So pleased that both Angel's have been identified. My thoughts are with those who loved them. So sad that Karlie's mum has passed away. Seeing the quilt she made in the stroller gave me goosebumps again.
I was also thinking of all of us here at websleuths this afternoon and evening :grouphug: I couldn't wait to jump on here, had guests that have finally gone. I haven't read all the way through the thread yet, so will go catch up.

Out of all the names that could've been chosen for little Khandalyce, Makara chose Angel, which suited perfectly, and now even more so.

RIP sweet angels

You know what, there are girls that travel around with truck drivers. Especially free spirited types down on their luck, she might well have done this and met with foul play, very dangerous lifestyle for a young girl and a child. Where is her car? If it broke down that could explain a lot, but police have not mentioned it. Burnt out? Stolen? Destroyed by killer?

Thought .. What if her car broke down and she was picked up by a homicidal truckie?

... and perhaps pedophile.

And for that reason that Facebook page is now off limits here.

Is it likely LE could trace Karlie's movements with bank records? Presuming she had a bank account.

Also, though it is not relevant now, the quilt looks quite well made, I wonder if the pumpkin patch on the quilt was a repair made during Angel's travels.

I think the quilt was brand new, or rather newly made, in that photo.

Police have revealed bodies found in SA and the Belanglo State Forest are those of a mother and daughter.

The family has believed they have been safe and well up until receiving a call today from police.
