Just throwing a theory out to you guys/gals.
Please keep in mind that this is pure speculation
Do you think it's possible that the parents were not initially at home but came home later? I saw an unconfirmed rumour on the net that this may have been the case and it got me thinking.
1. In the early news reports it stated that the police were able to determine Chanetelle's movements that night, but they were unable to confirm the parents. If the parents had been at home all night then surely they would have been able to tell? Why were they asking for information on the parents movements that evening?

We are trying to establish if the parents went out again after they arrived home that morning. We want to hear from anyone who may have seen them or Chantelle that day, either at home or out and about," Supt Moyle said
2. Many of us have questioned the ability for a thin and lanky boy to kill 3 people without arousing the suspicion of neighbours and/or one of the victims being able to escape.
3. Apparently Chantelle was the target and suffered the most severe and prolonged attack of the three victims. The killer spent more time with her in what appears to be a sustained attack.

The crime scene was also apparently one of the worst crime scenes in decades and made officers visibly baulk upon entering the site. To me this indicates that it wasn't just a simple stabbing, but i could be reading too much into it (the media does have a penchant for uversensationalising things afterall)

Considering that she was the killers target it seems plausable that she would have been the first victim. If the parents were home then surely the attack on her would have been cut short and the killer would not have been able to spend a prolonged amount of time with her? He could have gone back to her after killing the parents, but this seems like a rage killing and doing so just doesn't seem to fit.
If the parents were killed first then Chantelle surely would have been aware of it and had time to flee or do something. According to the nighbour he heard the mother screaming, followed by a male voice screeming (I have seen it posted here that it was the mother screaming but havent found an article stating it - only that he heard a woman screaming. So this could just be rumour). If at this stage Chantelle was still alive then it would have given her opportunity to flee or do something.
4. Back on the topic of the neighbour, he heard two screams. One female one male. Surely if all three had been killed at the same time then there would have been screems from all three of them? Perhaps he didn't hear the screams of Chantelle because it happened earlier in the night?
5. There are rumours that the killer may have been in the house for up to an hour. I dont know how accurate these rumours are, it could just be a case of an incorrect understanding of the original police estimation of time of death. But if it is the case then it would support the theory that the parents wern't initially home at the time.
6. It has been confirmed that there is an additional charge against the accused, although this charge has been suppressed.

We can take a guess at what it might be though. If that guess is correct then the parents not being home would make sense.
Anyway thats my theory for the evening
